Do you think Akbar would NOT have played such politics in his reign?

Right or wrong
Good or bad
This is politics!
There is a saying that there is no villain or Hero in politics - only success and failure! The villain in this serial is not AK, Sharifu or MA. The villain in this serial is the backdrop - the backdrop of politics! 😛

Shehenshah
Once you're trying to keep half of India and many other countries with people of different religions and classes under your control - you cannot achieve that without some amount of scheming! Thankfully, they haven't shown Jalal as pristinely innocent (like in the movie). It would be quite unrealistic! Shehenshah Akbar was not Lord Ram or Raja Harishchandra. He was a conqueror who knew how to keep what he conquered! Now, this could NOT have been sustained without the use of shrewdness - much like the shrewdness that Chanakya used to guide Chandragupta Maurya (Yes situations were different, but the principles similar!)

He tried being fair to people who were fair and wasn't deliberately unfair to people who were unfair. However he wasn't fair to them either!😛
Now, he doesn't know that the Dawalgarh people have also been beguiled by Shareef and when he does come to know, I would like to see how he'd tackle the situation. But, till then I'm going to sit back and enjoy this joy ride!
Being the Shehenshah he cannot afford to let people twist his arm/walk over him. I'm glad they showed that he didn't take being 'cornered' lightly [Be it the emotional cornering by his sweet Begum or the blackmails by Achal]! He fended it all off - with a mischievous wink and a shrewd ploy.

Begum
Coming to Jodha - She tried getting to solve the matter in the right manner. When it didn't work, she used a manner which was not entirely wrong - but, not transparent either. Did it work? Yes it did. Instead of sticking to being the 'holier than thou' person that female leads are expected to be today, she played it smart and it did the trick! Go lady - this is the kind of person I'd like to see pitted against our semi-villanish lead! A lady who can use her wit, adopt to the situation, preserve her dignity and yet get her way (for a positive cause, of course)!

I absolutely loved Jodha Begum today!
I absolutely loved Shehenshah Jalal today!
No storm was raised. They both used tact! They both achieved their goals. He kept Achal Singh at bay and she reduced MA to a silent watcher!

The scenes were not an ode to 'How to be a righteous ruler and empress'
The scenes played out were an ode to 'How to be a successful ruler and empress'

Go Jalal...Go Jodha!
Gotta love this serial! What a treat to watch such devilish politics play out by such enticingly good-looking leads!
So entertaining and yet so realistic!
I'm sure there's going to be fireworks when the truth comes out, but hey its Diwali...we shall stand back and watch - wouldn't we?😛

I'm absolutely loving this politics. Jalal is one witty man! Obviously it's necessary to play such politics to rule such a vast empire!

I had written in another post & writing again - the game played by Jalal is pretty much fair. He is giving the King of Dhawalgarh a chance to win the fort. If the King is capable enough - the fort is his.
The one who wins the battle wins the fort.

Yep, get ready for JJ's Diwali 😉

Awesome post!

well said lashy...this is politics ...and very well played

jodha tried the honest and right way,she was dismissed and ridiculed...she took the twisted way and her sister is getting married ..is this not better than sitting and weeping ,wailing and cursing her fate...instead the girl studied the situation and acted...this is what we wanted to see and am happy we are seeing...a demure ,naive jodha will never survive in Agra ...she has to be witty ,smart ad yet reining her basic character ...she was amazing today

and coming to Jalal...he was the Emperor today...he got sukanya married and then fair and square is getting back what rightfully belongs to him ...kya galat kia ...that family should hav ethoguht twice before dealing with the Emperor this shabbily...if they had been courteous and respectful Jalal would have given them the respect...they humiliated him ,so they for sure should expect a retaliation if they have half the brain...and if they are brave then defend and win the fort ...

these two love to keep each other guessing ,not one dull moment...and jodha knows he is unto something and he knows jodha knows and the game continues ..i hope this spice never goes away from their relationship even after they fall in love

Yup...
Also, when the Dawalgarh people realize the might of the Shehenshah, they will think twice before they decide to take their fury out on his Begum's sister (i.e. Sukanya)

Obviously, before all of that I think Jalal might come to know that Achal Singh was tricked and make up some other way for it...

OR

This could be where MP is shown contrasting to Jalal i.e. the former being righteous and the second being more devious but successful!

Either way - RT was so tantalizing with those wicked smiles - esp the smile he gave Jo
'Do you think I don't know what you've been up to darling? Got your way, didn't you? Now its time to get mine!'

Lashy I feel politics should not be played with personal relations...One can say he was Shehenshah today but if you look carefully , the man doesn't understand delcacy of relations...He is not a good judge of character either...One such proof is BB's marriage to SD...Marriages cann't be based on fears either...
My opinion ...No issues...

Ela Ela Ela..you're viewing it all with 21st century viewpoint my dear😃...this is 16th century royal family...EVERYONE here is a politician! Isn't Achal Singh playing politics? He wants this alliance ONLY to strengthen his Rajya...and he's daring to stand against the Shehenshah who could have razed his kingdom to the ground in a second.

Even acc to history, Akbar's own sisters were plotting against him..his own Doodh Ammi was plotting against him...harem stories show that his begums were plotting against one another killing other's foetuses to claim favouritism with the Shehenshah...Akbar's son killed his own brother...

Look at Ramayan, Kaikeyi plotted against the own son she brought up and claimed to love more than her own - only because she wanted power...In MP, his stepmother is involved in power-politics too...even today, look at the few remaining royal families in Middle East - still there are assassination attempts and whatnot organized by one member on another!)

As a king of a powerful Sultanat, Jalal's family is bound to be riddled with political problems...there is nothing called keeping personal relations separate from the politics in a royal family (like the home set up and office set up of today)...the personal relationships then existed because of politics. Jo became Ja's wife because of politics. Sukanya's going to become Achal's DIL bec of politics...

Whoever said this is all nice? It isn't...its devious...for now, its a serial - so entertaining! But I'm sure LOTS more than what's being shown here would have happened in Akbar's life!😃
Politics is so dirty and yet people throng to join it - such is the lure of power I guess!

Lashy...a tight hug for this post...🤗most of the times we are on same page...it is no different this time...You have so beautifully summarised the entire episode...

The king and queen were at play...only these two knew that there is more to what meets the eye...rest were dumbfounded...

jalal most probably knew jodha has given up the straight forward approach and hence this new avatar...different strategy..humble and subtle...she rephrased what she has said since the beginning of this matter...sprinkled humara pati in her argument(hum shehensha ke sath hain)...and it worked...he did calm down...he did a rethink of his strategy...imagine a moment ago he was all ready to leave for Agra...

Jalal gives in and except jodha all fail (even maham😲) to figure out that it's not that plain and simple...the dumbstruck expression of jodha when jalal makes the announcement said it all...she knows he will not give up the fort just like that...he also knows she will not let him off the hook without asking hundred questions...some progress in their relationship...he then makes the decisive move...it's a master stroke...he knows by humbling dawalgarh people fair and square he will secure sukanya's fate, get back his fort and send a message to his opponents...kudos!!!

Yes...awesome to see the gorgeous couple to play politics without getting dirty...😳

It was a stellar episode, no doubt. Loving the serial. The creative have always managed to surprise us hear and there.
Jodha is learning the tricks of the trade. She has to , in order to survive as a Mughal Begum... She did surprise him😉
Jalal - Swift , witty But I would've liked it better if he had strategically and creatively found a mid way .
Blame it on the spoilers, But I was so looking forward to see how he devises a plan that's a win win situation for all... But didn't imagine it would end up being giving the fort to only win it back..
His current plan can be argued as deceitful but yes anything fair in love/war/politics..

Yes...especially after coming across the numerous snippets posted here by different members, me thinks she could NEVER has sustained the title of Marium-um-Zamani had she not been as cunning as this...how else could a Rajput princess of a small place like Amer have requested the Emperor to retain her own religion, practice her own customs, have had a separate palace/temple built for her, given birth to the heir (in a harem where miscarriages were unfortunately being orchestrated) and kept her power?

and coming to Jalal...he was the Emperor today...he got sukanya married and then fair and square is getting back what rightfully belongs to him ...kya galat kia ...that family should hav ethoguht twice before dealing with the Emperor this shabbily...if they had been courteous and respectful Jalal would have given them the respect...they humiliated him ,so they for sure should expect a retaliation if they have half the brain...and if they are brave then defend and win the fort ...
👏Yes of course! I've had enough of watching the straightforward leads...I'm glad to watch something different now...and personally, I don't even think its wrong...😕

these two love to keep each other guessing ,not one dull moment...and jodha knows he is unto something and he knows jodha knows and the game continues ..i hope this spice never goes away from their relationship even after they fall in love
That's the best part 😆 their love story is a thriller by itself!
