If I were the writer, I would not have made Jagya a negative character with adultery etc. Bal vivah does not mean that the boy has go ahead with marrying another girl without even divorcing his wife. Gauri could have been shown a positive character but not in a relationship with Jagya, because even Jagya-Gauri had had bal-vivah. Instead I would have preferred Jagya- Gauri as friends and someone else as Jagya's love interest - someone positive. Jagya always had grey shades so, he would have still be selfish and wanted to marry the other girl, but he would not have been nasty with Anandi. He would have married his love interest after proper divorce with Anandi - naturally the family would have protested and here Jagya and his wife would have convinced them that he is not compatible with Anandi that he loves his new wife and whatever happened to Anandi is due to bal vivah only.
Anandi would have returned to her parents with no hard feelings for Singhs/Jagya/his wife and would have started her studies and career - becoming an independent career woman- may be a teacher as she always admired her teacherjee. In due course she may meet with Shiv and marry him - a simple nice love story. Anandi would spread awareness against bal-vivah and also other social evils.
Personally, I do not think that negative characters are necessary to take the story forward, I like the stories where the circumstances become obstacles rather than evil persons like Sanchi. Creatives think the opposite.
