Chapter 11
The slight warmth of sunlight hit his face, waking Maan up
from one of the most beautiful nights he had ever had. The sight that greeted
his droopy eyes made him think that he was still in his dream. In between the
satin white sheets was the object of his desires, tangled into him, fitting
together perfectly as if pieces of a puzzle. Her messy curls, that porcelain
white skin, those luscious lips, her pointed chin, the delectable curve of her
neck...'now red with his last night's assault' and a peek of her ample curves through
her loosely hanging blouse. He was instantly hardened, making him realize that
he wasn't in a dream anymore. A sudden rush of emotion hit him. He did not know
why he felt so complete, so contended. He did not even had sex. Leave sex, he
hadn't even removed their clothes. All he did was caress her and lose
himself in her arms. Looking at the time, he could easily make out that they
had only slept for a couple of hours. But even then he felt so refreshed, so enthusiastic,
so keen to look forward to the day. When did he feel like that last time? He
could not remember. He had always thought business triumphs and sex are the
only things that made him feel good. So what was this feeling about? He had almost
screwed up a grand business deal last night and was denied for the first time
in his life by a woman, but still! Still he felt ...'alive', rejuvenated, excited.
Waking up to her...that bliss...he was getting used to it some where.
She moaned gently and turned more into him, nuzzling his
chest softly, making his skin tingle. He sighed at the irony of his fate. For
the first time in his life, Maan Singh Khurana had no idea about what he was
doing. He himself did not know what he wanted. Why is he here? Why is she still
here? Anguish and frustration clouded his mind. Too many thoughts ran amok
through him...and there were no answers...none at all. Heaving a breath of defeat, he gently
eased out of her embrace. The loss of warmth made him tremble with an emotion
he was afraid to name. A look at the slight pout now on her angelic sleeping
face as he shifted away, made him think about crushing her into his arms the very
moment. Trying to neglect his aroused state, he steeled his resolve and got up from
the bed in a jiffy.
She is mine for the next six days. That is it. So shut up you
both. No more searching for answers. Huh. His mind barked at his teen-aged
heart for the n-th time in the shower.. Finally it was time for MSK to take control. He had to take care about
the Raichand's deal as well. I am here to do business. Focus there!
He quickly freshened up and got ready for office. As he came
out to his room, he saw Geet was still
in the bed. Though he could tell that she was awake, but she was just too lazy to rise
up.
Wake up. Time to shop. Maan smiled brightly shouting in her
ear and waved his credit card to her. Now, if you have any trouble using this
card, have them call the hotel. Okay?
More shopping? There
was no excitement in her voice.
Mm..Hmm. Tieing his shoe-laces, he spoke nonchalantly- I'm
surprised you didn't buy more than one dress yesterday.
Wasn't as much fun as I thought it was gonna be. Geet gave a
bitter smile which did not go un-noticed by Maan.
Why not? He was
straight to the point.
They were mean to me. She spoke with a heavy voice.
Mean to you? Maan raised a brow shocked. Anger shot through
him when he came to know how the store people had treated her yesterday.
Moving to his closet, he picked out one of his white shirts and threw
it to her. Get ready in ten minutes, we are going to shop. He ordered. She opened her mouth
to protest but his one look and she knew it was worthless.
People are looking at me!! Geet squealed trying to hide
herself behind Maan's tall, confident frame as they made their way through the
crowded Rodeo drive. She had tied his shirt as a top over her skimpy white top
and super short skirt to protect as much modesty as possible.
They're not looking at you; they're looking at me. Maan
smirked as his hold became tighter on her hand.
The stores are not nice to people. I don't like it. Geet complained
while walking hand in hand with him, trying to press down her wild hair with the other free hand at the same
time.
Stores are never nice to people Geet; they're nice to credit
cards.
Okay stop fidgeting! He pulled her other free hand out of
her hair. And get rid of your chewing-gum. He chided making a yucky face. Geet apologetically
grinned and spit it out directing to one of the posh' woman passing by. The
woman cast a shocked and angry glance at her, ready to bash her, but could not muster the courage to say even
a word when she saw Maan standing with his arms around Geet' waist.
As soon as the woman was out of the ear shot, he turned to
Geet and guffawed.
I can't believe you did that.!
Yes. Geet grinned flashing all her teeth, making him smile
brightly. Hand in hand, they entered one store.
I am Mr. Hollister, the manager. May I help you?
Maan Singh Khurana. Maan gave a curt nod.
Ah, yes, sir. The man was overwhelmed by Maan's intimidating
persona, while Geet was noticing the grandeur of the shop, wide eyed.
You see this young lady over here. Maan forwarded an arm towards
Geet, in which she willingly came. Do you have anything in this shop as
beautiful as she is? A warmth laced his voice.
Oh, yes.
A cold gleam flashed in Maan's eyes as he raised a brow over Hollister's statement.
Oh, no! No, no, no, I'm saying we have many things as
beautiful as she would want them to be. The manager quickly rephrased his
words.
One of the sales person
quickly escorted Geet to the dresses section.
We're gonna need a few more people helping us. Maan said
curtly to manager .I'll tell you why. We're going to be spending an obscene
amount of money in here. So we're going to need a lot more help sucking up to
us. That's what we really like. You understand that.?Maan gave a sinister smile
as he whispered these words to the Manager so that Geet could not hear them.
Sir, you're in the right store and the right city for that
matter. The manager started his sucking up right there. That was after all the best
thing he knew.
Mary, Pat, Kate Every one off to Madam's service. Anything
you see here, we can do, by the way. The manager laced his voice with extra
sweetness while piling designer dresses in front of her.
Oh, this is absolutely divine. He cooed as Geet tried one of
the dresses. But as if she had turned deaf to people around, her eyes searched
frantically for Maan, to seek his approval. Maan gave a thumbs down from the
corner he was standing in, emailing people. His one gesture was enough to make
her toss the dress and she tried the next one. This time, his lips lifted up
and she knew he liked it. Their cycle of silent yes, no and so so continued oblivious
to the crowd surrounding them.
The manager ran towards Maan as he saw him standing in a
corner.
Mr. Khurana, Sir. Mr. Khurana, how's it going so far? He
eagerly asked wagging his imaginary tail.
I think we need some major sucking up. Maan said impassively
while enjoying the manager's drama.
Very well, sir. He thought for a while and started his
nonsense talks. You're not only handsome, but a powerful man. I could see the
second you walked in here, you were someone to reckon with-
Hollister. Maan
interrupted him exasperated at his sycophancy.
Yes, sir. He eagerly asked.
Not me. Her.
Oh I'm sorry, sir. I'm sorry. He ran off to Geet again
knowing she was the only way to make Maan happy and in turn make him spend
money in here.
Maan's phone rang. It was Dev on the line.
Oh, Maan. Maan? Where the hell are you? The word's all over
the street. Raichand is gonna raise your offer.
He's countering? God, he is a tough old bird. Maan's voice
had a tinge of admiration. He knows the navy contracts are stalled. Where's he
gonna get the money?
I don't know. He, uh- I think he's throwin' in with the
employees. Dev answered rubbing his forhead.
But he still needs someone to underwrite the paper. Find out
who it is. Maan's mind was working at a warp speed now. He was in no mood to let this deal go.
Yeah, okay. You got it. Dev disconnected.
Maan turned to Geet and caressed her cheek softly . He
whispered in her ears You're on your own. I have to go back to work. You look
great!
She has my card. He
instructed the manager arrogantly.
And we'll help her use it, sir. He gave his ass-licking
smile back to him, which Maan completely ignored.
Geet tried and bought every thing. Cocktail dresses, formal wear,
little black dress, shoes, accessories. The sales assistant showed her some exquisite lingerie and
night dresses also. Touching the fabric, she blushed hard, thinking about Maan and
bought everything, mentally planning a surprise for him.
Maan would love that tie. She giggled pointing to the tie
Hollister was wearing, mentally planning to have some fun.
The tie? Hollister gulped touching his designer tie. He looked here and there, for some escape. Then,
unwillingly he removed the tie and thrust it in Geet's hands pasting a fake
smile on his face.
Anything for you Mam. Customer is God for us. Geet was laughing
inside loving his plight.
With almost ten shopping bags in her hands and rest in a
car, Geet crossed one of the buildings when she remembered a few scores she had
to settle. Turning in her heels; she entered the shop she had been yesterday.
The sissy saleswomen were there today also.
Seeing geet enter she ran towards her and greeted her with a
wide smile.
May I help you Mam?
No, thank you. Geet's voice was cold and arrogant. Do you
remember me? She cocked a brow at that brunette bitchy saleswoman.
No, I'm sorry Mam. She gave a nervous smile.
I was in here yesterday. You wouldn't wait on me.
Oh! Her face paled as if she was punched in the gut as realization hit her.
You work on commission, right?
Uh, yes. She stammered.
Big mistake. Big. Huge! I have to go shopping now. Geet grinned devilishly and made her way out
of the shop having the last laugh.
