I absolutely loved the trailer of RL...I don't think any other trailer has captured my interest this year the way this one did...and the trailer is the primary reason that I am going to catch this film, possibly on the day of its release!
But I can understand if some people didn't like it at all...I think that's completely a matter of perception...depends on the type of film you like and the actors you like! Nothing unusual about it!
PS: Hated the trailer of YJHD, loved the film to bits...similary, loved the trailer of Ghanchakkar...couldn't sit through the film for more than 30 minutes...I am just keeping my fingers crossed, that RL, the film is as good as its trailer!

Looking at the trailer people think it's going to be a hit, nagada sang dhol, lahun munh lagaya and ramji ki chaal have all been liked with nagada being a super hit song. But just because the last two songs haven't impressed people now think the movie is going to heavily flop, really? That's just two songs out of the possible 10.
Also the last two songs have been choreographed by some guy called Vishnu deva, apparently prabhu devas brother, and these are the only two songs he has choreographed, thank heavens! I don't know who thought that the guy can choreograph because he has mucked up two potentially good picturisations! The songs ang laga de and I think laal ishq have been choreographed by the brilliant Terence Lewis who I think will just choreograph the songs with immense beauty, so I am greatly looking forward to the rest of the songs!

Thanks Poppy! Exactly my point. I am not one to put down a movie for no reason, in fact, even if I dislike SLB or Deepika, if they do something well I will praise them. Sometimes you just can't get yourself to like something/someone no matter how hard you try but credit where due will be given.

Interestingly enough, I don't have a specific type of movie that I like (love coming-of-age stories though), my list of likes is quite varied because in the end it's the acting and storytelling which I look at. With SLB, I guess I find his movies slow and boring, testing my patience maybe that's why?

As for the music, I think it's the weakest yet from all his films. Even if I didn't like his movies, I still liked the music. This is no Khamoshi, HDDCS, Devdas or even Saawariya.

But you don't need great music to have a great movie, like raanjhnaa for example I think is ar rahmans weakest work, very unforgettable music, but the movie did really well and everyone liked it because of the storytelling. Yes ramleela is a musical, but I have a strong feeling that the strongest part of this movie is going to be the acting and story telling, especially in the second half of the movie, cuz we know that the second half is going to be filled with drama, which SLB is good at portraying.

@Zarak, what are you saying?😲 Raanjhnaa had one of the best music of this year and it is one of ARR's best too, in a long, long time...especially coming after the debacle called JTHJ! Raanjhnaa, IMO, was one of those rare films, where the music actually took the story forward, instead of being gap-fillers!
But then again, that is what I was talking about...music, films, actors, performances, roles...all this is a matter of perception...there are very, very few films / actors etc. who are universally loved...like say, a Godfather is a type of film that probably 9 out of 10 people think is a classic...but still there will one one will think that it is simply hyped!
Yes...a love story typically needs a great musical score and unfortunately RL's music is one of SLB's weakest...but I think there is more to the film than just songs! From the promo of the film, it seems to be an intense drama...lots of action and dialouge baazi, than just songs and dances!
I think we should just wait for the film to release to decide that one!😊

Ok, probably is about perception because I watched ranjhnaa twice and I can only remember one song which is tum tak! And looking at the the youtube views, only the the title track and tum tak were the most popular, the rest didn't really impress, ramleela songs seem to be more popular overall.

I don't know what to make out of this song. Priyanka looks hot and she danced well, but at the same time the choreography comes across as cheap and vulgar. Priyanka is an awesome dancer, but for some reason she gets these crappy item numbers which just don't do justice to her dancing.
Honestly, this film's music is such a letdown.
