women authors at the top of their game have no trouble thinking big, inventing and dreaming. But while these wonderful authors are representative of the very best women writers they are not, sadly, representative of the majority of women authors currently being published!
It would be ridiculous to suggest that personal experience should never be plundered by novelists. The list of those geniuses who have done so is long, from Austen through to Doris Lessing and Alice Walker to name but a tiny, random few. Indeed, several authors have drawn deeply on their own life events, but they have used them to create bigger, ambitious tales, that speak louder than lazily fictionalised personal anecdote could ever do.
No one can expect women writers to suddenly change the trends that have moulded them for decades, but we can keep the question of what constrains us a living debate?

The first hurdle is to convince women that if they break free of those gender constraints, they will still be relevant and still be taken as seriously as the quality of their work demands. The fact that all three major literary prizes will have gone to women authors shows that when women dream and dare and invent, they are in every way equal to their male rivals.

"What does a woman feel when she is hit? My mother slapped me when I was a child - on two occasions, to the point of pure hysteria; I never liked it. Those who are humiliated in such a way learn to disintegrate - that is, they become once removed from pain. This is the most direct route to psychic ruin." Pearl s Buck

Well guys had something to share with you people...

While I was in my 12th grade, our house watchman had his place of stay just opposite to our house. He and his second wife (because first wife simply ran away) and 2 sibling from his first marriage lived there. The watchman guy (not to mention pure alcoholic) was so abusive to his second wife too who was like almost half his age. The girl used to run in to our compound almost every midnight and my parents used to advice this watchman...only to find him beat the poor girl again.

One day my mom just in a mood of fun told the girl to give him a nice blow with the same stick he uses to beat the girl... Somehow one day the girl took my mom's words on a very literal note and gave the guy 5-6 blows with the stick... He was almost limping the next day. He even came up to my mom and said that his wife gave him left right center and to everybody's surprise he stopped beating his wife from that day...some days when he came close to a war the girl stood up to give him a good fight. Though the incident looked funny to me then, I think the girls should show some courage to defend themselves else some men use them up as mere door mats and punch bags.
