Vipul Mehta, the original writer of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, is back along with old characters like JD, Prajakta and Chirag Jeetendra Trehan The old guard of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is returning to the fold. With the recent entry of Dakshaben (Ketki Dave) in the Balaji show, previous characters like Chirag, JD and Prajakta are also being brought back. The recent changes in this long-running drama are thanks to the return of Vipul Mehta, the original writer of the daily. This move is to ensure that seven years on the show will still retain its flavour — and the viewers. Hussain's demands Muni Jha Says Mehta, "Kyunki is going back to its original setting. Ekta Kapoor wanted to inject a dose of humour into the goings-on. As a result, 'ara ra ra' is going to be back along with Dakshaben. Now that she is back in the scheme of things, we have to get her husband Himmat chacha (Jeetendra Trehan) back too. Dakshaben's son Chirag and daughter-in-law Prajakta have also been resurrected." Muni Jha, who played JD, and Tuhinaa, who essayed the role of Prajakta, have been approached to relive their roles again. There was also a move to rope in Hussain, who played Chirag, but post Nach Baliye 2, Hussain has terms and conditions. "Jeetendra Trehan is back as Himmat chacha, while Muni Jha and Tuhinaa have also been approached. Hussain will not be doing Chirag's role. We will have another actor doing it," informs Mehta, who also writes and directs Gujarati plays. Keys to the kingdom Tuhinaa Says Jha, "Yes, I was approached to revive JD's character. I signed the contract a while ago but I don't know what is happening and whether I am on or not!" Tuhinaa also affirms that she received a call from Balaji to return to the drama. "I have not yet signed the contract though, so let's see how it works out." Incidentally, Tuhinaa is presently seen in the Star One drama, Saathi Re. "It's strange that in Saathi Re my character's name is Ketki (Ketki Dave plays her mother-in-law in Kyunki!), while in my earlier show, Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai, I played the role of Gayatri, who is also one of the mothers-in-law in Kyunki. Writer Vipul Mehta There seems to be a Kyunki link in every other show that I am doing!"Kamalika Guha Thakurta, who plays Gayatri chachi, is also back in the drama. "After ages, there was a garba scene in Kyunki. The show was always about the struggle between the daughters-in-law and mothers-in-law. It appears that the old charm is going to come back." As producer Ekta Kapoor had always maintained, "Nothing works better in Kyunki than who gets to keep the keys of the house!"

I too wanna see more of Husein on screen... but THANK GODDDDD he's not doing Kyunki! I'd have buried myself the day I'd have to hear the likes of Lakshya or the other kids calls him 'chhote dadu'! Ugggggggghhhhhh 🤢
