Ahmedabad seemed to have certainly touched small screen heartthrob Sidharth Shukla this festive season. The actor, who frequented the city twice during the festivities, seemed to have enjoyed the city's celebratory spirits. Oozing positive attitude and sporting a warm smile, Sidharth opened up to TOI during one of his trips. Excerpts from the chat:
You're seen as a mover and shaker on TV with a lot of fan following. How does it feel living the life of a person who enjoys such adulation? On a personal note, not much has changed in life. At the same time, yes, I have become more cautious on how I project myself on a public domain owing to my screen image. Since there are a lot of people who are watching me, I need to take care of how I appear and what I talk about. I don't want to do anything that would hamper my image. I stay with my mom and live a very normal life, I work out and my life is not different from any other normal person. The only difference being I have become more conscious of myself.
Are there a lot of expectations from you owing to your popularity? Expectations are always going to be there when you get a certain ground in showbiz. With lot of adulation, comes a lot of responsibility to be consistent because everyone gets an opportunity, but only few could reach higher in showbiz. And when you have reached a certain level, you can't take everything for granted. For me, all this success is god's gift. My achievements are also a result of team effort. So, how I hold on to the ground and conduct myself is very important.
Is there a lot of pressure on men to groom and look better these days? Men are actually working towards looking better. I take just 15 minutes to get ready for a shot after I put on my ensemble. On a regular day, I'd just like to laze around and spend lazy hours doing nothing.
Were you good at studies? My mother would be able to say more about the sort of things I used to do to avoid studying. I used to sit holding books and flipping through pages, but my mind used to be occupied with all the games I wanted to play with my friends. For hours together I used to look into the book and think about all the games (laughs).
You are still single? Yes, I am. But I would like my ideal woman to like me just the way I am. That will put less pressure on me to look good. Having said that, if my girlfriend likes me to look in a particular way, I would love to do that.
