PART 7

Next day geet eagerly waited for the class to end. Maan had come to drop mansi as always but hadn't stayed while she took her class. She felt odd and hurt seeing him go away from the gate itself, he didn't even came inside the park.

Finally the class ended and geet waited for maan to come and pick mansi up. He was late today, it had been ten minutes since her usual time of ending class but he hadn't come yet. Mansi sat beside her as they waited; she was playing with her crutches, "didi apko ye kha se mili, kitne cute hai ye"

"cute???" geet cringed her nose at mansi's comment. "ha didi, you have a permanent bat with you to play cricket... jab bi aapka man ho you can kick the stones with these sticks na..." geet just smiled at mansi's comment. "humne to kabhi itna socha hi nhi mansi" because mansi smart hai" geet just smiled painfully at her comment. How easy life is from a child point's of view, but was it so easy from hers too... facing difficulty while playing childhood games, having classmates laugh at you seeing you in difficulty, not able to live this carefree life.

Finally maan came after some time running inside the park, "sorry baby chahu late hogye aj" maan said as he reached near her. Geet sat beside mansi, waiting for him to say something to her but then he didn't said anything. "koi na chahu, mansi to didi ke sath thi". Maan smiled at mansi and then looked at geet and gave her a smile. But still she felt some distance from usual. There was no warmth in his smile like always. Picking mansi in his arms, he just said a simple bye to geet and left with mansi, leaving her shocked, hurt and once again in pain.

She didn't said anything just left home silently cursing her fate, nothing new for her. Whole life she had faced distance from her love ones, she can bear one more, nothing more. But was it that easy as she considered it to be.

Maan drove silently, lonely at night as he cursed himself for his behaviour toward her today. Agreed he was in a rush today, an important client was due and that's why he hadn't even dropped mansi at home instead took her to office but still he could have atleast said a proper bye right. "She must have felt bad because of me, shit man!!" he said hitting his fist on the wheels.

He immediately parked his car on the side and dialled her number, he thanked his stars for taking her number from bhabhi few days back by lying to her. Geet wiped her tears as she saw her cell ringing. She was surprised to see some unknown number, no one generally called her. She received the call uncertainly.

"am sorry geet" was his voice form another side. She stilled for a moment wondering was it really maan or she is just thinking of it. "hello, geet you there" he again said getting no response from her. "maan" she whispered, still shocked. "ha geet, wo am sorry for my behaviour today, I should have greeted you nicely right"

"no that's ok maan. No problem" she said wiping her tears. "are you sure geet, actually I was in a rush, didn't have much time with me, so I didn't said anything... but I hope you don't mind right" he said casually. "umm yeah, she said slowly... ofcourse she mind it for god sake, it wasn't a small thing from her point of view, but could he understand that???

"umm ok, so geet kya kar rhi thi yaar tum"

"huh!!!" she said confused with his sudden question, "what will I do at 9pm maan???"

"umm ok you mean you are free, to long drive pe chalogi mere sath??" he said flirtly with a cheeky smile. Geet had to actually clear her ears to check if she is hearing right..

"maan are you mad or what" said geet with a laugh.

"was just checking tum naraz ho ya nhi, I know you want to maintain a guardian-teacher relationship between us, are you still sure of it geet??" he said with a chuckle while geet just smiled at his comment.

"ha maan am still sure about it" geet replied haughtily,

"you broke my heart" he said giving a foul reply while he just winked at himself for cornering her.

"accha maan"

"hmm geet"

"will you be my friend" she asked with all the seriousness she could gather, for him it may be an usual question, but only she knew how serious she was when she asked him that. For her friendship wasn't just pulling each other's leg, but it meant deep strong bond, a bond which is higher than any other relation and she knew the true meaning of a friend because she never had one in her life.

"sochna padega" he replied haughtily now as it was his turn to have fun of her.

"oh, you can take your time, byee" she said with sadness wondering does he is so unsure of having her as a friend.

"hey hey wait geet, mai Mazak kar rha tha yaar, tum to serious ho gyi... maine to pehle hi kha tha ki I consider you as my friend since the time I meet you, no matter what you think of me"

"but after knowing about my crutches, still you want to be..."

"if you have crutches, how does that matter. Ha kal mujhe bura laga that you didn't told me about them before but then I thought how you would have told me about that when I never gave you a chance to speak, but yeah jokes apart I know it must have been difficult to just go and tell someone unknown about your crutches. Ha I know it takes time for me to understand, but dheere dheere samaj aa hi jata hai sab kuch."

"thanks for understanding maan" geet said really overwhelmed to hear him, probably for the first time someone understood her feelings. And as much she know him, she guessed that probably he was very angry till evening, but then he realized his mistake after meeting her after class and felt sorry for his act. But she could forgive him, she wants to forgive him actually, she wants to let him close to her today.

"ok maan, good night..."

"what!!! So soon... I want to talk geet"

"but I can't, jiju bula rhe hai" she made an excuse to cut the call.

"ok then, byee, good night geet" he immediately fell for her excuse.

As she cut the call, she laid back on her bed, hiding her face in the pillow and smiling to herself. She was feeling so happy today, probably never felt such happy before. Suhana had just came to call her for lunch, when she saw geet to laughing to herself. She had to actually pinch herself to check whether she was seeing it in reality or was hallucinating.

Finally she went near geet and said, "geet kya baat hai aj badi khush lag rhi hai". "dii aj am feeling out of the world" "kyu aisa kya ho gya tere sath" "sab theek ho gya ab" geet just said that and went away leaving suhana perplexed.
