1. Mallika E Aazam Hameeda Bano.
Today, i feel she is a woman of strength and SANITY too. Her son is on the verge of death , the entire sultanate's future is in dark , there is no hope anywhere - she doesn't even know if Jalaal will survive. Yet, she does not lose her mind , she still stays a sane judge of character and circumstances , she does not lose her marbles like Ruqqaiya or Maaham. She understands the chaos theory and lets Jodha know , that as much as she is angry with Jodha's foolishness , she does not want her to bear the brunt of everyone's hatred - like a queen , she lets Jodha know that Jodha is on the edge of being labelled a traitor and who all can kill her - but at the same time, she tells her that for her Jodha is her daughter , and just like she is worried for Jalaal's life , she has the same worry for Jodha's life. Hameeda does not get swayed in emotional fury like everyone else, inspite of being Jalaal's mother - she retains her mind and senses. And that truly is STRENGTH of character. Its easy and natural to fall prey to circumstantial emotional triggers - like Maaham, like Ruqqu , like Jodha, like Jalaal. It takes rare strength to retain your senses and your justness in adverse times. Yes, Hameeda loves Jalaal, but her love is not blind and nor is it standing on crutches of spineless emotions that see no reason. Hats off Mallika-E-Azam.
2.Vazeer E Aaliya Maaham Anga
Another woman who DEFINES strength and gives Machiavelli a run for money. Whatever Maaham's shades or her inner and outer devil-angel play, she loves Jalaal in her own peculiar obsessive ownership way. She can see that her Milk Baby Boy Jalaal is on the door of death - and like everyone , she too feels that Jodha is responsible ( which she is in a way) . But Maaham stays within the limits and boundaries of her position and she is as practical as Jodha in this hour. She immediately addresses the fort army and orders them to guard Jalaal's throne and the walls of the fort with their lives. Her tears are not stopping from flowing , yet that voice does not quiver even once from rising to occasion while Jalaal battles his life. Maaham plots, plans, kills, thrills, drills and she is not actually the Badee Ammie' that Jalaal worships... but her love for Jalaal is true, even in its dark obsessive way- its just that she feels only her love is superior , and she keeps stretching and testing it - even above Jalaal.
3.Mallika E Khaas Ruqqaiya Sultan Beghum.
Mercurial. Temperamental. Megalomaniac. Volatile. Self-obsessed. These are a few adjectives that describe Ruqqu and they are too few, actually. But her sentiments and her attachment to Jalaal is real in a viscose way. She has been married all her life to Jalaal from the tender age of 9-10(?)- he is her best friend, her husband , her confidante - and you see all that she feels in that sepia flashback of her childhood years and her Nikaah with Jalaal. Her love/attachment for Jalaal is as passionate and fiery as her nature. So, all the slaps and shoving that she does to Jodha spring from that emotion seed. The woman who had taken her Jalaal to the door of death was standing right in front of her - 90% people in this world would have done what Ruqqu did to Jodha. The fear of losing someone is a leviathan and it can make you lose all your marbles and granite slabs in a snap of a finger. Do not judge Ruqqu today. I know she hates Jodha , but today , it was not about hating Jodha - it was about fearing losing Jalaal to someone's mistake. Emotional fury is a monster in itself and those who have experienced it , will understand it the best. Infact, on a lighter side, today's episode is a mirror reflection of Ruqqu's subconscious fear of losing Jalaal to Jodha. Uss waqt bhi yahee taqleef hogi , the pain may vary though.
4.Jodha
Nopey. Am not giving any royal title to Jodha - because her actual title is yet to come and she is yet to earn/get her position in Jalaal's life and the Mughal Palace. Jodha - guilt-ridden, devastated , but recollecting herself slowly and her senses returning slowly. While she surrenders herself to Ruqqu's temper and situational hatred , she does not collapse and crumble like rest of the Mughal women - she takes one look at an unconscious Jalaal and she runs back to her Hojraa to prepare medication for Jalaal. Her demeanour and her sanity returns as she makes medicine for Jalaal from her learning and experience - and confidently tells Hameeda that it will work for Jalaal. Jodha understands that she is in the criminal spotlight and she strongly and emotionally tells Hameeda that its better to die the death of a traitor than live under everyone's accusation scanner. She does what she can do for Jalaal since she is not allowed to be near Jalaal - she prays for his well-being to Lord Krishna, prepares medicine for him and the best part has to be the precap. Once again, she puts herself and her life ( under scanner due to allegations of being a traitor ) on the backburner when Hameeda tells her to flee the palace to avoid getting killed - " Hum Shahenshah ko iss haalat mein chhod kar nahiin jaa sakte." ...Yes, Jodha "doesn't" love Jalaal but she is at that pivotal point where she cannot let go him either - not even when the sword is glistening at her swan like delicate neck.
P.S- Jalaal should SERIOUSLY write a thank-you card to Soojamal. Soojamal's training of Jodha got Jalaal out of those woods. And today, Jodha's pre-marriage medical training to tend to Soojamal came in handy for Jalaal. Soojamal ne Bhaai hone ke saare farz adaa kiyye hain - dekho, absent hote hue bhi kitni help kar rahaa hai behna ka ghar basaane mein. Awww... sho-cute na?🤣
