Mr.Deshpande (Sameer's father) is depicted as an unsuccessful writer. His failure to make himself known in the field of letters, his financial problems compel him to compromise. But he is shown easily falling to temptations. He is not worthy to be writer. A writer should have a sense of integrity, honesty and morality. He has a duty towards the society. He should brave those storms of of life and be an example to the society.
First he took bribe from Rubel and now from Chachiji. More than the need for money it seems that he seeks vengeance on the Deewan family. Isn't he axing the branch he is sitting on???

You are absolutely right.

But these characters are creation of the CVs.

So CVs are to be blamed.
