Kidding about Kids!

Amongst Tellywood actresses, it's uncommon to find them going the family way immediately after their marriage. If a minimum of 5 years gap is maintained between marriage and childbirth amongst common folks, it's much beyond that
for actresses of the small screen as it is the general conception that having a child may hinder their acting career, which being a demanding one, takes up almost 16-18 hours a day, 25 days a month. Gita Hari talks to some childless actresses to find out their reason for postponing their motherhood.

SHILPA SAKLANI:

Married to actor Apurva Agnihotri, they have come together in Jassi on Sony and Nach Baliye 1 on Star One and make for a lovely and loving couple. She is popular as Ganga of KSBKBT on Star Plus and also
hosted the show Fame X on SAB TV.

Speaking on their plans of starting a family, Shilpa says, "Maybe in a year or two. I am a laidback person and my career is of no consequence to me and my priority is my marriage. I need Apurva to settle a little more and by then I will be 25, which I think will be the right age for me to conceive. I often dream of that day when our chungu-mungu can pakau Apurva on the sets."

So its proven, ss is 23 or 24...but which number? ๐Ÿ˜†...and I have no idea what the phrase: "chungu-mungu can pakau..." means ๐Ÿ˜• ...some one care to elaborate ๐Ÿ˜›

SAI DEODHAR:

This petite actress fell in love with her co-star of Sara Akash on Star Plus, Shakti Anand and married him. They celebrated their second wedding anniversary at the picturesque islands of Maldives. They participated in Nach Baliye 1 on Star one and both are once again paired together in Ek Ladki Anjaani Si on Sony TV. Her current track sees her playing the double role of Ananya and Anuradha.

"No," says Sai firmly on conceiving a child, "not now. I believe this is the first season of marriage when you go out and enjoy the company of your spouse and we have been so busy working, we don't even have the time to think about it. I am quite young so I don't have to rush. I can take my time and enjoy our togetherness."

According to Sai, "The second season is motherhood, third is bringing up children and fourth is being grandparents. No we are in the first phase."

TEEJAY SIDHU :

Married to Prem of Kasauti Zindagi Ki on Star Plus, actor Manoj Bohra, she too tried out acting in a few serials. She is the ex-editor of Rave magazine and a model.

According to Teejay, "Yes, having a child does hinder your career and I am not ready for a kid. Work has just picked up and we are on the lookout for a nice, spacious house. It may take another four to five years before we think of starting a family."

ROSHNI CHOPRA:

Pia of Kasamh Se on Zee TV and anchor of Ten Sports, Roshni recently got married to Siddharth Anand, director of theatre and tv shows. Roshni feels, "It's definitely a hindrance to your career. For now, having a child is not on the horizon. The present phase is anintimate one and I want to live my marriageโ€ฆit's beautiful to enjoy each other's togetherness."

Talking about priorities, the actress says, "You can'twork when you have an infant around. Priorities change and you cannot give your 100 percent to your career as it tends to take a backseat."

DELNAAZ PAUL :

A decade of marriage to actor husband Rajiv Paul, she has done many a comic role until she got to do serious stuff, with Rajiv opposite her, in her first Balaji production Karam Apna Apna on Star Plus. Delnaaz
reveals that now she is ready to start a family, "Earlier we had made a conscious decision so that we could stabilize our career prospects. The going is good now and I can afford to be at home to take care. At one point I felt it will be negligence to have a child and leave him home."

She finds it inspiring to see so many tv actresses with babies get back to work. "I will take a small break and then get back to work. I don't like to leave children with servants. But I am lucky since my parents stay close by," opines.

Manasi Salvi :

Manasi with her producer-director husband Hemant Prabhu has acted in serials directed by him including Sati on Sahara One. Presently, she is playing the lead in Pallavi Joshi's directorial debut of Marathi serial Asambhav for DD.

Manasi is of the strong opinion that, "No, children don't hamper your work at all. Things should happen at the right time. If you are good at your work, you will get it anyways. Yes, I plan to start a family this year and that's the reason I have cut down on my work."

๐Ÿคฃ Di, she is like any other Balaji heroine who has drunk from the Fountain of Immortal Youth. If Parvati can look 25 when she must be at least 60, why can't SS be perennially young at 25? ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜†
