PART-20
Samaira was watching Maan intently. Geet had just moved away being busy with her gang teasing Pinky. Maan had moved away once the ceremony was over conveying his best wishes.
"When will you tell her the truth Maan?"
"What Sam?"
"Come on Maan. Stop acting. I was there in Amritsar. I have seen things with my own eyes so stop trying to fool me. I can't watch this anymore Maan. Only for you I have been quite till date or I would have told Geet the truth myself."
"Do I hear Samaira Roy be concerned about a certain Geet, the one who was a stark enemy?"
"Stop using your usual sarcasms. Remember that's me, sarcastic, selfish bitch. But even I can't watch her like this. Dev was right you know. Even I can't bear her faking a smile and trying to survive when I had witnessed her live once. How can you bear it when even I can't?"
Maan watched her and said,"Have I ever told you what an amazing friend you are?"
"You have Maan. So I am doing what a friend is supposed to do. What a lover should have done 4 years ago. I was selfish then but I finally accept what Dev had known all along. You were never mine Maan. So go and get your Geet. She is surviving all right but only you can make her live again. Do it or I will tell her the truth."
"Sam!!"
"No, let me do it when I still have the guts. I don't want to be a martyr here but I can't bear you looking at me and wishing it was somebody else. We both deserve better than that."
"Are you just taking a decision watching her for one evening?"
"No Maan. I had lived as your fianc for four years and had known one fact. She will be the only one for you. There was no one before her and there will be nobody after her. I can fight with anything but how will I fight someone who is a part of your soul? And to bear it for a lifetime...I can't think."
"Thank you Sam. It means a lot to me."
"Were you waiting for me to clear away your path before you start fighting for her?"
"I would have eventually. You just made it easier. I was never good with words. She understood my silence, you didn't."
"But she did not understand you that day Maan. If she really had the ability to read through your silence why didn't she when it really mattered?"
"No Sam, Don't judge her so harshly. She knows it deep down or else she would not have been in love with me still."
"How can you say she loves you still?"
"Because I can read her silence too you know. Her eyes speak of her unsaid love. Her getting affected by me tells I m still down there in some corner of her heart. Her not looking at us tells she is still jealous."
Maan chuckles a little while Samaira watches unbelievingly. The man who could not put words to his own emotion was fondingly speaking about his love's love.
"Maan, for a man of few words you describe her really well."
"Sam I don't know what future holds for me but what are your plans?"
"For my entire life I dreamt of being your wife. Now I want to first find a new aim for myself. Love will eventually come to me someday, I hope. Till then let me find who I am truly."
"Maybe love is waiting for you?"
"Or coming back for me?"
Sam laughed out loud yet a tear trickled out which she brushed away.
"I know what you are trying to imply Maan. But no, I won't write his fate same as mine. I f someday I truly fall for him I will myself run back to him, bend my knees and request him to make me his. But I won't let him live with something lesser than what he deserves. He is a wonderful person and he deserves a wonderful life."
"So do you Sam. "
"I will have. Trust me I will. But till then let me be. I just got my heart broken. Let it mend a bit before it can fall in love again."
"Take time Sam. I won't stop you because I don't have the right anymore. But don't be afraid of love. Keep your mind open and I am sure you will find where you truly belong."
Sam could not stop herself and few drops rolled down which Maan wiped away. How can this man be for real? She cleared her throat and asked in a choked voice," Can I hug you once? "
"Of course."
Sam held him lightly as she tried controlling her rapidly beating heart. Maan could feel her controlling her sobs. His heart ached for this girl but this pain is lot less than what she would have faced later had they continued.
They parted and Samaira left the hall. She can't bear staying beside this man anymore or she will fall in love with him all over again. This man was himself broken yet he had it in him to provide solace to the person who had started t all.
Sam stood by the long corridor while a stray tear or two rolled down her eyes. She was looking truly beautiful in the moonlight.
A strong hand jerked her round by her shoulder and hugged her tight. Sam was startled at first but relaxed soon understanding who the attacker was. Dev held her almost reverently as he broke the hug. He was still in his travel cloths. He had matured into a man with all his boyish traits gone. Dev watched Sam. She was still the same but maybe a little less stoic. Sam whispered," Dev!! You.."
Dev kept his fingers on her lips as he said, "hush Sam! I am looking at you after four long years. Don't ruin this moment with useless talks."
Sam closed her eyes as she tried veiling her own emotional turmoil. Dev bend down taking his lips near her forehead almost touching and whispered, "May I?"
Sam nodded lightly as dev pressed his lips a little longer than necessary trying to feel her soft skin.
"Thank you!"
"For letting you kiss?"
"No, for letting me in."
"You are one of the invitees Dev."
"I wasn't talking of the party sweetheart. I was talking about your heart."
"When did I let you in?"
"You did dear. And I will wait for you to understand. Come on dear!! We have a party to attend."
"I don't know how many more hours you will be my friend Dev. But I want to tell you that You were one of the best thing that happened to me. Thank you for being my friend even when I wasn't there for you."
"You were always there Sam. You only need to figure out how. And why will I not be your friend?"
"Because ...I have wronged you"
"Friendship means having it in you to forgive. I hope I can."
"You will maybe. But I can't bear."
"You can dear! I will make sure that you can."
"Don't make any promises without knowing the price."
"If the promise keeps us near I will happily pay the price."
"O h!! Dev I wish!"
"What you wish Sam?"
"That I would have known what a gem of a person you truly are."
"You had always known dear. Only you never really agreed."
Sam knew once Dev enters the hall nothing will be hidden from hm. And maybe he will hate her for her role in the game. But right now she needs the solace of her best friend's arms. She had lost her love just now and might lose her friend as well. She wants to steal few moments before she loses her only solace.
Dev took her in his arms and caressed her hair and whispered, "Baby no matter what I will always find my way to you."
Sam closed her eyes seeking in his warmth. A storm is about to come but she will savour the moment for lifetime...
Geet is not there in this part but next one is gonna be dhamakedaar!!!
