I am personally offended by this objectization of a woman. Should a girl be made up and her appearance the main reason for being considered fit for marriage?

this is a great topic for discussion, you should have created a separate thread for this. I too hate this objectization...unfortunately, this is the reality in arranged marriages even in cities. Most guys only go for looks, here at my place most guys wants a wife like asin, trisha, deepika and katrina when none of them look like rk, ak, ajith or madhavan 😆

@ BLUE

This shows the mentality of CV's...Adding this dialogue shows how male chauvinist the CV's are... no wonder Sandy is being shown as dumb as GADHI despite her education, alertness etc.

Sorry, SK :).

niruba - men go for looks and women go for the money. My husband's younger brother is looking for a bride now, but so many girls and their families have huge financial requirements, like salary above 12 lakh, even though they earn much less themselves. So it's always something from both sides unfortunately.

see one thing we have to understand is DABH is showing the mirror of society. It is showing society as it is. So its biases will be shown. I had mentioned this earlier also. To be frank it is the only soap where I see the mirror of society and unfortunately it is regressive. Yes India is regressive. Atleast when we see this things we are able to ponder over right. Whether this is right or wrong. Should I make a change as I feel biases exist in all of us as we are also part of this society.
If I am attending a wedding especially that of near and dear ones I start preparations for it from the day I know the date. Which saree, which jewellery and a visit to beauty parlor. Reason to look good and perfect for the ocasion.
Similarly for a client meeting in office the same effort is put to choose the appropriate attire and accessories so that I look smart and confident.
There is a saying in Tamil aal pathi, aada pathi. That means clothes and accessories makes up half of your personality. Also we say guys give importance to looks, dont we woman give any importance. We love to watch Madhavan, Surya, SRK, Aamir Khan on the screen. Would we run if a lesser glamorous face is on the screen.
Also when matrimonial proposal comes doesnt the photo of guy matter to us. It mattered to me atleast. So let us not say looks doesnt matter. It does matter from both sides.
Only issue in our society is a girl doesnt have a voice to say " No " to a guy if she doesnt like him. But that is changing in metros and towns where girls are saying No.
