Hey guys! Okay so before you get on me for opening another thread on the rules of the nikah ceremony, some today crossed my mind. I can't believe I didn't think of this before.
Has Gul ever mentioned if Qubool Hai is based on a Sunni or Shia Muslim family?
I was sitting with a friend today, and he was telling me about something, and said it was because he was Shia. I have many Shia friends, and I don't know how I never took a note to this before. The reason I ask is because it will change many things depending on what the show is based on. There are many differences between Shia Muslims and Sunni muslims, even differences in the Nikkah ceremony. This is totally irrelevant on whether the nikkah is valid/invalid (because both still believe in the consent of both parties) but there are other differences. I don't want to get into details of any of it, but just something that hit me today.
I mean I'm probably just over thinking this too much lol and making it complicated (damn I really need a break from all this) but I got curious anyways.

I think Shia muslims are the majority in India (could be wrong).

I'm not sure but I asked my friend he said there are a lot in India, but majority is usually Sunni. I could be wrong as well.
Haha I kinda feel stupid for opening this topic now, cause thinking about it, I'm looking way too into this. It's just a damn show! lol

Things differ within the divisions of Islam. Sunni & Shi'a are the two majors ones. There are more, so I wouldn't be surprised if the said "inconsistencies" occur because of this. Just like there is a concept regarding temporary marriages in Islam called mut'a that people in my circle don't practice/acknowledge.

As for the division that is more abundant, I can't speak for India. However, globally, the ratio of Shi'a to Sunni is 3:17.

Yeah thats actually what hit me today because I've been judging based on what I've practiced (being Sunni). If so it would explain many of the issues on the show and like you said inconsistencies.
Yeah I know of nikah mut'a as well, but there are many controversies regarding that and many don't practice it.

The majority of the Muslim are Sunni's (I, myself, am a Sunni)
I am not sure about every detail of the differences but one of the main differences is that for the Sunni's the prophet Mohammed (may peace be upon him) is the most important one and for the Shia's that would be Ali (if I am not mistaken)

Hi 😊
I am not a Muslim, but I would like to know if either the Sunni or Shia Muslims accept this nikah as being valid considering that the wrong name was read out loud when the ceremony was going on.

As far as I know, this nikaah was invalid because of many reasons; for instance, the wrong name. Therefore it can not be seen as a valid nikaah.
