i read again the first few chapt to know their presant state of mind where i found maan become lonly aloof inspite of having everything, it means he regrets for something and that regrets doesn't allow him to live peacefully.
so my guess now is khurranas were going in financial problem,and roy were also ritch so this alliance will help to bring their market share value up again, so this alliance was buisness deal between khurana's and roy.
i think his father must have bought that land and he was not wanted to give back that land to geet so he act differently, or he was wanted her to forget him.remember him saying he will act such a way that she will be in minimum pain, but his sentance - that he can afford her to be his mistress was too much humiliating and insulting.no 2 people in true love will speak such words as it hurts so much that it leaves the scar forever..
so here i dont think he said so to forget him,but he said so to hurt her purposly still the reasonings are not clear but the words he used was not right, it will be difficult to forget those words by geet.

PART-18

Meera silently watched Geet getting ready. Few unexpected days is when Geet gets up earlier and gets ready before her, Meera can't help but think back to the old days. Meera had been enchanted like everyone else by the enigma called Geet. She was one who would be so childish yet so mature. She smiled from heart and made others smile along with her. But the best thing about her had been the way she had kept the child in her alive...her innocence had been her best quality. Meera mused thinking,"it had been..."

Geet had also joined the same IT farm as that of Meera. By luck she was posted in Mumbai as well. So Geet started staying in the same PG as that of Meera. But it had been a different Geet altogether. Gone was the ever smiling girl who was open book to all. This Geet seldom talked but worse was the shield she had built around herself making her impenetrable to all...even her...

Soon Geet and Meera were on their cab to office. Meera watched that Geet had put on a slight make up. She thought," so she has cried again last night. After al Geet Handa only puts on make up if she has to hide the pain in her face."

Meera thought back to the day almost three years ago when Geet had finally reacted slipping off her perfect mask.

It had been a month when Geet had arrived in Mumbai but she was a complete changed person. Meera was frustrated and yelled that day,

"Geet, what is wrong with you?"

"What? Am just cutting vegetables for dinner, it is hardly any wrong thing to do."

"Shut up Geet! You know I am not talking about dinner. I am talking about you. You are not the same Geet anymore. "

"Change is the only constant thing Meer. That is hardly anything to be alarmed about."

It was the perfect calmness with which Geet answered that had frustrated Meera more. Geet was never calm. She had a fiery temper. Yet the fire in her had been missing.

"This is not you Geetu. Tell me please what had happened in past one year. You didn't behave this way even when Maan had broken your heart."

Geet flinched a bit hearing the name yet nothing had given away her inner feelings other than that momentary flinch. Geet thought, "If only I had known the difference between faking a heart break and getting the heart shattered into pieces. It was so much different. Nothing changes. You don't die. Only a part of you dies taking all hopes, dreams and most importantly courage to love and trust someone along with it. "

Meera was watching her but her face did not show any emotion.

She replied stoically," Meer, you have been a true friend and I won't lie to you and demean our friendship. Something did happen in past one year which made me what I am today. All I am requesting you is to never question me about the reason for my change. I don't have the courage to bear the same pain in my memories again. Once was more than enough. If someday however I find the courage you will be the first one to know. But please don't pester me. I am not yet ready to share."

"But geetu, sharing helps in lessening the pain dear. You must share the pain."

And Geet had a sarcastic almost sadistic smile when she replied back," This pain is the only thing I am left with. I am possessive about it. This was his last gift to me and I won't share it with anyone, not even you Meer."

A jerk due to bad road condition brought Meer back from her thoughts. That was the only day Geet had shared a bit of herself. After that she had shut everyone out. Meer did try but Geet never yielded. It was as if she had stopped feeling emotions, just surviving...not really living. But that was the day Meer came to know that there was a certain HE' responsible for all the changes in Geet.

Geet watched Meer from corner of her eyes. She knew Meer was thinking and worrying about her. She knew Meer cared for her and loved her. But Geet had been burnt by love and she runs away from that emotion in any form. The cab took a turn and their office building came into view at the top of the IT Park. Geet faked a smile and told herself," Geet, get ready. Another day has come for you to pretend that everything is fine and she loved how life was."

Watching Geet put on that fake smile pained Meer deep inside. She wished someday by some miracle Geet turns back to whom she was and she can finally witness her friend with a true smile, not one that she fakes to put on a show of being happy.

Yash met them at the entrance and started chit-chatting," Guys the sadu manager is back!!!!"

G: "Come on Yash!! Why do you hate him soo much?"

M:" He fears him Geetu!!!"

Y:"Shut up meera!! I don't fear him...I just respect him. That's all."

G:" Guys the lift has come. And remember the presentation is there sharp at 10. So we need to recheck each of our part together now before we present our module to the team lead."

Meera sighed. The workaholic Geet is back. Only if working for hours could make people get rid of unwanted memories and unfulfilled dreams!!!

Geet silently watched Meer and her expressions. Geet knew how worried Meer had been for her. But even after three years she could not find the courage in her to share things with Meer. It was too painful but most importantly it was too personal. And how will he say that the only person she trusted enough to give her heart had broken it so brutally that her heart will never trust again.

It was almost time for them to leave when Geet received an email from her supervisor. Her leave was approved. It was pinky's marriage in two weeks and all three will be attending that. She was happy for her friend. Apparently some love stories do turn into marital bond. But, Vizag??

It had too many memories...every street, every mall, RK beach, kali Mandir everything will remind her of her love story. But the person who will remind it the most is dev. Pinky had informed geet that dev is coming to India after 4 years and will directly come to vizag to attend the marriage before going to his home in Delhi.

In these 4 years Geet never found it in her to divulge the truth to Dev. Apparently Maan did not tell him either for he does not know anything till date. Initially Geet avoided it so Dev won't harm his MBA. And later it became a habit to not let out her pain.

As if on cue dev's text came in watsapp.

"hey Geetu!!!"

"hi!!!"

"your leave is approved right?"

"yep it is."

"wow!! Geetu I am soo happy...I will finally met you guys..."

"hmm, I gotta go...my cab is waiting."

"I can't believe my old chatterbox has been so silent."

"The world taught me things dev. "

"Why do I always feel you hide things from me?"

"Because I do Dev..."

"You cannot. Not once I am in front of you."

Geet did not reply back to that ping but she thought in her mind,"That is what I fear too Dev! As far as I know you, you will hate yourself for convincing me to fight for Maan. But I don't want you to suffer for your brother's mistakes."

Driving through the traffic the cab took turns while Geet flinched at the thought of facing her past memories but it was long overdue. And she had decided to face it gracefully. Pinky deserves more than just her physical presence in her marriage and she will give her that.

Maan Singh Khurana entered the Khurana mansion in his own style. He is the perfection personified. Vicky who had just returned after partying with friends called out loudly," Hey bro!! You are back early. I hope you are joining us for dinner today at least?"

Though Vicky was voicing his words cheerfully there was an edge to his voice giving away how much he missed his elder brother.

Maan smiled genuinely as he said," yes Vicky. I will."

The entire Khurana family was sitting for dinner. Savitri devi watched her elder grandson painfully. He is perfect son, perfect grandson, perfect businessman and perfect brother. But all his perfection had cost him too much. He was so distant from the entire family. The only one person he truly interacts with is Vicky. Maybe in the process of making a perfect heir they had ignored his emotional needs so long that he had stopped feeling any emotions for them.

Abhisekh khurana looked up and said," Maan. Am happy with the way you have completed the merger. It was absolutely wonderful the way you grabbed the deal. I am proud of you son. In fact, as a reward am giving you 15 % of my shares. I hope you are happy."

Maan smirked cruelly as he said," I have never been happier. On Saturday there is a board meeting . You and dadi both should attend it. Vicky, you also have to attend as even you have 5% shares. And I will directly go for Adi's wedding from there. "

Senior khurana said," I have already discussed with our advocate Mr. Kapoor. You will get the shares legally by Friday."

"Thanks. I appreciate it."

"You and Samaira should settle down now. Even Adi is getting married."

"My personal life is none of your concern Mr. Khurana."

"But beta..."

"Your elder son is dead. Long ago, when you had neglected him for years. I am just Maan Singh Khurana, The acting C.E.O of Khurana Enterprise and you are just M.D. of the company I work in."

Maan left the place not bothering to hide his disgust over the man who was supposed to be his dad.

Once in the safe confines of his room he thought about how he is going to face that one person from his past. He was sure Geet won't miss pinky's wedding. But would it be fair on her to force her to spend a week in the vicinity of a person who had destroyed her? But he cannot miss Adi's wedding. Adi had been the only pillar of strength for years. It won't be fair on him if he misses being part of such an important event of adi's life.

Maan self proclaimed," years ago I had proved I am a rotten lover. Let me at least be a good friend. And I deserve every bit of hatred she will shower upon me. Least I can do is let her have her closure so that she can move on."

And he closed his eyes trying to grab some sleep even though he knew this will be another sleepless night like all the other nights for past 4 years.

I figured that since almost everyone is convinced of maan having some reason its better i give a sneak peak of his thoughts 😉...
