Images were flying through her mind as she walked towards the empty classroom

Ye kya keh rah rahe ho shlokh. Thum aisa kaise soch sakthay ho?...' said a scared and confused Aastha

thumnay aakhir apni aukaad dikha hi di. Aaanson, aur ronay kay siwa kya janthay hain thum jaise log' Said shlokh harshly

Aaastha looked shattered. The day which she thought would be the happiest for her was turning out to be worse than her scariest of nightmares.

She held shlokh by his Arm and pulled his face towards him.

shlokh.. kya ho gaya hai thumhay' she continued

Shut up! Mujhe choona bhi math' he shouted back and said something to her which made aastha close her eyes with pain. A tear rolled down her cheek as she saw shlokh barge out of her room

Ridha kahan ho thum , she said pulling herself together

She looked around the room and saw that it was empty just like her heart.

There was slight drops of sweat on her forehead.

How her life has changed. The silence of the room started to strangle her. She started to feel suffocated and turned around to get out of the room only to find shlokh at the door.

She stared at him for a whole minute. Her eye moist and her heart heavy. The same man for whom her heart had skipped with joy now had become sad and filled with anger.

Aastha looked away and tried to pass the door without brushing against him. Shlok was big built and his shoulders almost covered the entire doorway. But she was also petite and almost managed to get out without establishing any contact except that she felt her hand being pulled

Mujhe dekho aastha' demanded Shlok

Aastha avoided all possible eye contact. She felt repulsed by his touch. Her whole body was shaking.

Aastha.. look at me' he said one more time

Aastha was busy getting herself out of his grip.

Tamasha math khada karo Shlok. Ye thumhara ghar nahi school hai. Mujhe jane do' she replied back in a harsh whisper, her voice filled with contempt

Shlok pulled her harder towards him. He then touched her face and moved it to face him. Aastha had closed her eyes. Determined to not look at him. As if afraid of falling in love again and loosing herself. She had committed that mistake once but not again.

Shlokh stared deeply at the face in front of him. Despite himself he moved closer towards her.
Aastha could feel the breath on her face getting deeper and deeper. Suspecting the worse she sprung her eyes open only to realize her worst dreams.

She moved her face away.

Shlokh felt hurt by her rejection. He could never see her hurt yet he was the one who constantly caused her pain. At that moment the most hated person in that room was Shlok.

Aastha hated him and he hated himself.

Papa' came Ridha's voice.

Shlok let Aastha go immediately and moved back few steps. Aastha let a sigh a relief.

Papa, papa, papa' came Ridha running towards shlokh and sprung into his arms

Shlokh held her in a tight embrace. The pain of loosing something valuable clearly etched across his face.

Kaisa hai mera beta' he said coarsely

papa aap aagaye' Yay' screamed Ridha with glee

mama see papa aa gaye she said not able to contain her happiness.

Aastha smiled wearily and got out of the room and headed towards the playroom to collect the rest of Ridha's things. Every few seconds she did turn to check on Ridha as if afraid of loosing her.

But there was Ridha, happily jumping in the arms of her father.

The very sight filled Aastha's eyes with tears. With great difficulty she controlled her emotions and collected all of Ridha's things.

Chalo beta' She said

Ridha looked sadly at her father. But she didn't want to argue with her mother.

Aastha..' started Shlok softly

chalo ridha, aai wait ker rahi hongi. Phir hum bahar jayengay' she said ignoring Shlok

Ridha looked as if she had struck gold!

mama aapnay icecream promise kiya tha! maine good behave kiya hai na' she said

Aastha looked irritated.

han lekin ghar jaker bhi kha sakthay hain na' she argued

It was one thing that made Ridha tip to the other part of the scale and that was lack of keeping promises.

She immediately started jumping up and down.

No! aapnay promise kyat ha. Main nahi aaungi' she argued

OK baba teekhay chalthay hain' said aastha defeated

Papa kay saath jayengay' said Ridha as she ran towards him

Shlok immediately took Ridha in his arms and both of them brushed past Aastha towards the exit. It was Shlok's turn to ignore.

Aastha's face was red with anger but she had no choice but to follow.
