Traditional = Smart / Modern = Stupid?

Gul Khan's motto in this serial from the very beginning has been to showcase a 'Modern Muslim Woman' that is, our Zoya and try to change the perception that people have of the Muslim Community, especially their women, as being very traditional and orthodox!

But frankly, what comes after watching months of Qubool Hai and observing the way in which Zoya's character has been developed, one can only come to the conclusion that what Gul is actually trying to prove is that being modern is equal to being completely stupid!😆

Asad, who is shown to be the mirror image of Zoya, is traditional, religious minded, orthodox in many ways and a very conservative person in thoughts and behaviour...but most of his decisions and way of thinking seem to be very mature and well-thought out and he comes across as a rather level-headed and sensible person. Exactly the type of man that every parent would want as husband for their daughters!

While Zoya, who wears Western clothes, drives a scooty, takes lifts from strange men (mind you, in a place like India, where 9 out of 10 times, a lift in a car with a strange man would end in rape or murder or both), argues back all the time and does everything that is the cliche of 'modernity' but actually comes across as being rather juvenile and extremely immature.

Most of the decisions that Asad takes end up being correct (barring a few), while most of the actions that Zoya does end up causing hurt to not just herself but to others too!

So what exactly is Gul Khan trying to show? That Asad, while conservative and old-fashioned is sensible and mature, and Zoya, while portraying modernity and liberal values is dumb as a bat!😕

Maturity comes by hardships, problems they faced in their life.. Asad used to work with Dilshad, he has seen worst things in life, he had to become father for Najma in early age, he is the only man in family so obviously he had to take decisions and grow up overnight.. He is traditional, conservative because be believes in those ideologies.. I dnt think Dilshad taught him to be conservative..

On other hand, Zoya was pampered by aapi-jiju..They never said no to Zoya.. Yes, she has pain of loosing her parents but her pain is more on subconscious level as she has not seen it in front of eyes and still think everything would be like fairytale.. Aapi-jiju protected her to extent at some times she behaves like kid yet.. So this immaturity which comes more from upbringing and giving freedom.. And modernity came because she has seen girls going late at night, working, wearing jeans.. But still she does believe in religion , have faith in God.

So maturity comes by hardships you have experienced in your life, and how many times life put you in difficult decision making situation.. Whereas, modernity and traditionalism comes from society in which you live.

Here Asad being smart with conservative & zoya being childish with modernity is just coincidence..
