TOI: Anas Rashids bachelor pad a family home

Telly actor Anas Rashid's home doesn't look like a bachelor's pad from any angle. It is neat and tidy, with a lot of detailing in design.

About four years ago, Anas got some free time between two telly shows -- Prithviraj Chauhan and Diya Aur Baati Hum -- and made the most of it. He spent the time decorating his house. From curtains, sofa, upholstery, bed sheets, cushions and even the kitchen, Anas's eye for detail reflects everywhere.

"I am a homemaker, I believe in hospitality. When I am back from my shoots, I want my house neat; it should give a positive feeling," says the actor. "I did theInteriors on my own, which is difficult. I like making changes every now and then," he adds.

He continues, "I lie on the bed for hours and watch television. So, when I went to buy my bed, I picked one with a comfortable back-rest. While keeping the availability of space in mind, I also wanted to be a bit indulgent and got a full-length mirror fitted in my bedroom. I am an actor, so I like looking at my reflection (laughs). That gives me confidence."

However, used to his three-storeyed home in Punjab, Anas took time to adjust to his one BHK in Mumbai. "The lifestyle here is very different in terms of space and availability of things. In my hometown, we have a triple-storeyed independent house with seven bathrooms. It is like a haveli. I like having a garden, a mango tree in the compound, but all that dreams have died here. I feel helpless at times," he sighs.

Though cooking is his passion, Anas says he can cook only if he has proper ingredients. "A chef's main quality is to make something out of nothing. I get hyper if I want to cook something and the ingredients are not available. I love cooking for my guests. I plan the dishes in advance if I know that somebody is coming home," he says.
