Aww ! This was the sweetest., Little Zoha , Daddy's girl, all grown up and leaving the nest? Of course Daddy will be angry.
This was awesome. I love all the bonding you showed specially the one Ahsan and Zoha share, makes me all senti. Lol
And by Gawd ... The first time you mentioned Hassan .. I was already pictured FAK from Dastaan. Its the same effect wenever Hassan, Asher or Zaroon is mentioned. 😆

This was a wonderful piece. Loved reading it. Cant wait for DI.

Yes Daddy sure doesn't want his not-so-little-anymore princess to leave 😉
I'm glad you liked Ahsan and Zoha's bonding. There will be more in the coming chapters, not in the next one though 😛
Oh another Fawad fan?!! *a huge bear hug to you* 🤗 Actually It's not Hassan but Hassaan. I first thought hassan because of Fawad of course but then I thought HASSAAN sounded hotter so I changed 😆 And another big reason for not using Hassan was because I'm already using Fawad as Zaroon in DI 😆
It's not your fault. I've already used Asher and Zaroon so you probably assumed that Hassan's the next in line Lmao 😆😆😆 Do you want me to change it into Hassan?? 😉

CHAPTER 2

Zoya knew exactly where Asad would be and as expected he was in the garden. Her heart broke on seeing his defeated figure sitting alone on the bench, his bowed head in his hands with his elbows resting on his knees. He looked as if he had just aged years in a day. His hair looked like it had more streaks of gray than it did a few minutes ago. Zoya forced herself to get a grip on herself, knowing she had to be strong for her family

She quietly sat on the bench next to him and placed her hand on his shoulder, making him look at her. His tear streaked face automatically made her tear glands work as well and she hugged him tightly as he broke in her arms.

"Why, Zoya? Why does it happen this way? Why are daughters the ones who have to leave?!" Asad asked in a thick, hoarse voice.

"It's just the way of the world, Asad. It's how it works." Zoya replied in a soothing voice.

"Well, it's so stupid, damn it!! We are the ones who raised Zoha! Why should she leave us?!" Asad growled; his hurt now replaced by anger.

"Asad, every girl has to leave. She goes to live with her husband and then has her own family-" Zoya tried to explain.

"But, Zoya, she's still my baby! She's still my little girl! How can I let her go?! How will I live without her?" His voice broke near the end.

"Asad, it's not like we'll never see her again once she gets married. Hassaan's house is only at half an hour's drive. You can go and meet her whenever you want." She reasoned. "And besides, I got married to you when I was 23. I left my house and my family for you too."

"That was different."
Asad replied in a detached tone.

"Excuse me? Are you trying to say my family didn't love me?" Zoya asked in a playful voice, trying to lighten his mood.

"No, no Zoya. I didn't mean it like that." Asad replied hastily and then went quiet for a while, trying to formulate his words in the best possible way. "Our parents and elders thought differently... It was their life's dream to find a suitable husband for their daughter and marry her off when she comes of age. I ... I never thought like that. Hell, I didn't even realize my daughter was all grown up ... She still seems so small to me." He said softly in a voice full of wonder, as if amused how had he missed such a big thing.

"I know Asad. But we can't think like that, can we? And I've talked to Ahsan and he too thinks Hassaan is a really nice boy. And that means a lot coming from Ahsan. You know how protective he is, when it comes to Zoha. So I think he should meet Hassaan once at least." She replied squeezing his hand gently.

Asad seemed not to be hearing her as he said, "Zoya, if Zoha leaves, who will give me hugs when I return from my office everyday? Who will chatter with me for hours on end? Who will doze off on my shoulder in a minute? Who will make me take my pills when I fall ill as if I were a kid? Who will lean out the car window to wave and say 'Tata Abbu!' whenever they're going somewhere? Who will tell me I'm the best Abbu in the world almost everyday?!" Asad choked on the last words as the lump in his throat made it impossible for him to continue.

Tears made their way down Zoya's face as she registered the amount of pain in Asad's voice.

"Look at it this way Asad. Don't you want Zoha to be happy?" Zoya asked him gently.

"Always!" came the reply without a moment's hesitation.

"Then this is where her happiness lies. Are you going to deny our daughter the biggest joy in one's life? Her first love?" Zoya questioned him in a quiet voice making Asad look at her. "We have to meet Hassaan and his family for the sake of our daughter's happiness." She said simply.

"Zoya, can't we just ask Hassaan to shift in our house after their marriage? That way Zoha won't have to leave and she'll get what she wants." Asad asked her in a hopeful voice.

Zoya laughed lightly. "Asad, you know that's not possible. Hassaan won't agree to it and your daughter hates Ghar Jamai. Haven't you heard her saying a number of times how Ghar Jamai are sooo not cool!" Zoya imitated their daughter and Asad let out a small chuckle.

"But what we can do is to ask Hassaan to get a house near ours as a part of this marriage's condition; how about that?" Zoya smiled and Asad reciprocated a little reluctantly, saying, "Hmmm ... That does sound better."

Zoya continued, "And Asad, we're not marrying her off in a week so calm down! We'll meet Hassaan and then decide, ok?" She asked softly and he finally nodded, suddenly looking too exhausted to say anything.

"I'm tired. I'm going to sleep." Asad stated as he made his way back inside his room, knowing fully well that trying to sleep was going to be a futile attempt tonight.

***

After tossing and turning in his bed for over two long hours, Asad quietly crept out of his room, careful not to wake Zoya up. He didn't know what made him do it but he found himself heading to his daughter's room. He found her sleeping soundly, hugging her teddy bear tightly, which he had gifted to her on her 15th birthday and whom she had named 'Dumbledore' for reasons best known to herself.

He sat down on her bed quietly and whispered, "Abbu's so sorry for making you cry," as he leaned down to kiss her forehead, making her stir in her sleep before opening her eyes sleepily and asking, "Abbu, you here?"

"Oh I'm so sorry sweetie. You go back to sleep." He replied hurriedly getting up but Zoha grabbed his hand and tugged at it making him sit back again.

"Abbu, I'm really sorry! I didn't mean to upset you. I'm thinking I'll talk to Hassaan tomorrow and ask him if we can get delay our marriage for a few years ..." She said uncertainly.

"No, no! You don't need to." Asad shook his head. "I'll meet his family."

"Oh you will? I love you Abbu!!" She threw her arms around him hugging him tightly making Asad smile despite himself.

"And you'll be nice to Hassaan as well, right?" She asked him happily.

Asad muttered something under his breath which sounded a lot like, 'Nice? I want to break his face for stealing my daughter away from me!'

Zoha frowned as she asked again, "You'll be nice, right?"

"Yes, I'll try my best." He replied and Zoha smiled as she laid her head on his shoulder,

"You're the best Abbu in the whole wide world, do you know that?"

"Oh yes, I do; maybe because my daughter tells me this almost everyday." He chuckled as he turned his face to plant a kiss on her forehead. "And now go to sleep, young lady! Don't you know its way past your bedtime?" Asad said in mock seriousness.

"Oh please Abbu! Don't get me grounded for such a small thing!" Zoha shuddered playfully before breaking into giggles and Asad couldn't help joining in.

"Good Night Sweetie. Sleep tight. I love you." Asad said standing up.

"Oh I know! You tell me that every night too." She smiled, her eyes dancing merrily. "Love you too Abbu!" She sang as she pulled her covers over her.

"Love you more; much more than you'll ever know." Asad whispered softly as he closed the room, feeling a lot light hearted than before.

So how did you like it? The next chapter won't be updated so fast cos it's still not written down. So don't get used to it 😆 I'm still a lazy person 😉
