CHAPTER-51.

Loud gunshots whizzed past all around them,and it took Prithvi a second to get his senses back,and cover Meera with his body...All his senses were now in overdrive..His only soul aim was to protect Meera from the mortal danger they were facing..He tried to lie as flat on the ground as it was possible...They were still in the open he realized..Easily viewable,and so easy targets of the goons firing at them..

Prithvi looked around for a way out,or a place to take cover behind,when he saw the large tree a hand away from them..He indicated the tree to Meera,who was holding onto his shirt front and lying below him..

"That tree..Let's move behind that tree.."Prithvi whispered urgently to her,and Meera nodded in agreement..

She slowly changed her position,and both of them dragged themselves behind the tree,still lying low on the ground,as gunshots kept whizzing all around..Prithvi kept Meera covered the whole time,and finally they were behind the safety of the tree..The goons still kept firing,and pieces of tree bark fell off,as the bullets hit the tree..

"Did they bring a truck full of bullets with them?!Why don't they try to save some?!Why are they wasting the bullets,and firing on the poor tree?!"Whispered Meera angrily,as they sat breathing heavily,behind the protection of the huge tree..

Prithvi stared down at her angry face,and could not stop himself from smiling..In such a dire situation,where other girls would have got panicky and hysterical,only someone like Meera could stay so calm,and complain about bullets being wasted..His Meera was truly,a gem..A very rare gem..

Wait a minute!From when did she become Your Meera?!Prithvi's inner voice exclaimed out,and instantly Prithvi stopped his wayward thoughts.

The gunshots had stopped now,and Prithvi could hear crunching of leaves,which meant,only one thing..The goons were coming closer..

Looking for a way out,Prithvi suddenly remembered the gun which he had taken from the first goon,and had put away in his pocket..

He took it out,and indicated Meera to sit quietly,and was about to get up,when she pulled him back down,by pulling at his shirt..As Prithvi stared down at her,he was amazed that the calm girl,of a moment ago,now looked panicky and on the verge of hysteria.

"Where are you going?!!They will k-..Don't go!"She whispered urgently,her eyes round with fear..Fear for him,he realized,as something squeezed at his heart..

Quickly Prithvi tried to reassure her,and squeezed her hand gently,and made her let go of his shirt..

"Meera!Please sit quietly?!I'll be back in a minute!And please don't move from this place!I'll return for you.I promise!"He whispered reassuringly,and as Meera still looked reluctant to let him go..Impulsively he lowered his head,and placed a soft kiss on her nose,and before Meera could blink he was gone..

Prithvi stalked the goon,who was now moving to where Meera was sitting,behind the tree..The goon was smirking winningly,and had placed his hand on his gun,when he fell on the ground unconscious,as Prithvi,placed a hard chop on his neck..Prithvi had got down to take the fallen goon's gun from the jungle floor,when he felt the hard nudge of a gun barrel at his back..

"You think you are very clever,right Mr. Smart ass?!!"A third goon sneered from behind him."Drop your gun right now,you bas***d!!!"The goon ordered with another painful nudge..

Prithvi slowly dropped it..

"Now stand up straight,and take me to your lover!Right now!"The goon ordered in a ferocious voice..

Prithvi complied quietly,and walked in the opposite direction,of where Meera was sitting..

"Where are you going?!You think you are very clever,Smart ass?!Call her out!Tell her you are safe,and tell her to come out!"The goon ordered suddenly..

Prithvi tensed at that order..He had to fight this goon,and take Meera to safety,whatever it took..He had to think!And now!

"Are you deaf?!!I said call her out!Or else I'll kill you right now,and find her out myself!And then do you want to know what I'll do to her?!Do you want to know Mr. Smart Ass?!"The goon goaded in an ugly voice..

"I'll catch her,and then I'll hold her b-"The goon could not finish his goading sentence,as Prithvi suddenly turned round,and placed a hard punch on his face,and instantly blood spurted out from his nose..

"What the fu-"The man cursed out holding his broken nose,when Prithvi placed another hard punch on his jaw,which made a loud cracking noise of benes breaking,and made the goon's senses reel..

"You'll what?!!You'll do what,you bas***d?!!"Prithvi asked through clenched teeth,as he pulled the goon's head back by his hair in rage..

"S..Sorry.."The goon pleaded,still one hand on his nose..But as Prithvi stared at the goon's face,in rage,unaware by him,the goon was raising his gun,which he was still holding,and aiming it at Prithvi..All ready to shoot..His finger on the trigger of the gun,aimed at Prithvi's heart..

"You'll what?!!You-"

THUD!!!

The goon fell unconscious to the ground,and Prithvi stared dumb struck,as he saw a heavily breathing Meera standing infront of him,just behind where the goon had been standing a moment ago,with a heavy log in her hand..

"Meera?!What the hell are you doing here?!Didn't I tell you not to move?!!"Prithvi asked in a slowly rising angry voice..

"That goon was about to shoot you.."Meera mumbled..

"He was not!I had things under control..And I ordered you not to come out of your hiding place!"

"Oh right!The goon,would have played with you,your question answer game of KAUN BANEGA CROREPATI,quietly,right?!!And the gun he had raised to fire at you,was a water gun right?!!"Meera asked angrily..

Prithvi sighed out in exasperation,and decided there was no point in arguing with the girl..So without arguing he turned round,and Meera followed him..

"Now,where are you going?!We have to..."Meera went on talking,and Prithvi quietly ignored her prattle as he looked for ropes to tie the goons up,in the cottage,they had spent the night in..

They were almost on the edge of the forest now..Prithvi had manged to tie the three unconscious goons,and left them locked inside the cottage,and left a note,that they were goons,and he was sending police for them..So that,if by chance,the owner of the cottage,or anyone alse,came across them, he did not set them free..

Twigs snapped below their feet,and the trees almost cleared,as they saw the highway infront of them..Now they had to be careful..Prithvi decided to himself..The leader of the goon must be around on this very highway,looking for them..

A horn sounded,on the road,and before Prithvi knew what it was about,Meera set her hand free from his,and ran to the road..

"HELP!PLEASE STOP THE CAR!WE NEED HELP!"She screamed standing on the middle of the road..

SHIT!That car could belong to the goons' leader!Thought a shocked Prithvi...
