We have seen much discussion on Soham- Gauri. Whether he is good enough for her, whether she can ever fall in love with an illiterate man and so on.

This brings me to a scene in Jodha Akbar. When the mighty emperor Akbar reveals that he is illiterate. We did not see Jodha, a highly accomplished woman, falling out of love with him thereafter. Let me clarify that we are only discussing the film and not what really may or may not have happened between them. So, let us please not turn this into a debate on lack of knowledge of history!

Anyway, getting back to the point, the fact that Akbar was a powerful king made up for his lack of education. Of course, we don't have kings today but we do have uneducated rulers. And we do see highly accomplished women marry them despite their lack of an education.

If Soham had remained a goon, he may have become a bahubali and a ruler some day. Then, women like Gauri may have fallen for him. So, was he better off being a goon then? Instead of becoming a good man, both illiterate and powerless? We have seen so many women fall for power after all!

In today's world, power seems to be a greater incentive than education. This is all my point is! Other than that, It makes no difference to me who marries whom!

In 1969, there was a Bengali movie named "Teen Bhubaner Paarey" (Across the 3 Worlds) where a beautiful, educated, cultured working woman falls in love a jobless, Roadside Romeo who hangs out with his friends at the street corner and heckles passing girls, whats called a Mohalley ka Lafanga in India.
Tanuja (actress in the role) and the goon (Saumitra Chatterjee) meet, fight, he taunts and teases her, she retaliates with choice words. They fall in love eventually and get married. Of course there is trouble in paradise, love doesnt pay the bills. But ultimately with his wife's "push and shove" the muhalley ka gunda becomes a serious guy and eventually finds a job and makes his wife happy.

Soham-Gauri story could have gone that way, but since Gauri doesnt love Soham or has any romantic feelings for him, that is out of the question now. But who knows? Its Ekta's show and something might happen to make Gauri suddenly realize that she does have "feelings" for Soham. 😆

If Soham was a Bahubali, an underworld Don, who committed crimes, a decent girl like Gauri would not have fallen for him. But since hes reformed and trying to improve his life, there was a chance for that to happen!

Hey! I completely agree with your post! :)
True, more than literacy what matters is power and money!
Yes, I think gauri would marry Soham if he was rich!
I don't know if she would marry if he was bahubali! 🤔
I think more than power, money plays the major role!
You wouldn't marry the head of the most powerful group of dacoits if he isn't rich! Do you?
With power comes many problems which women may try to avoid but being rich you need not have those problems!

Or Di they may show Soham having an accident which lead to his memory loss and illiteracy.
Then they may show that suddenly he recovered it! 😆

No, Bhai, that one is "Prothom Kodom Phool" also starring same couple, Tanuja and Saumitra.

But the one Im talking abt is this one, with this famous song, Jiboney kee pabona...

Saumitra wasnt exactly a goon, but a complete loafer, lafanga type, jobless, what is called Vellagiri n Hindi nowadays. 😆

😆 I was thinking more along the lines of Soham will take a bullet while saving Gauri from goons, like Arjun took bullets to save Purvi. Thats a sure way of making a girl fall in love with him! 😆

P.S. The kitten in ur siggy is sooo cute! I love cats! Im chorying the photo! 😛

well ekta does not even need to create any story to show that gauri has feelings for him. since day 1 she has strong dislike towards him and later on that turned into an uneasy friendship and finally they became cordial with each other. so its not like she does not have any feelings for him at all (although she has no feelings for sachin for sure. they dont have a story at all except for the one archu started).
hatred and dislike has often turned into love and its not new. so ekta could have gone that way too or that she is already in love wid him (which i strongly suspect) and she is yet to realize that.

so akbar's case is concerned, that time was different and so was the situation. akbar was not just any guy. today being educated is considered to be imp but it is not top priority to make a marriage work. marriage works solely based on the qualities of both people and their willingness to make it work.
