Chapter 27:
The following day was very tough and important for both of them. Mr and Mrs.Singhania had reached the Shekawat's mansion and so did their family doctor Mr.Stephen. Mrs.Shekawat felt comfortable or rather relieved as she met Mrs.Singhania. After all we never know what the aunties talk to comfort themselves. Mrs.Singhania assured Taani that things would be alright soon. Her mother in law's presence indeed made her feel good as Rey had guessed. Why wouldn't she??After all they shared a different bond of understanding not like the usual saas bahu stuff. Mr.Singhania met Mr.Shekawat and spoke some soothing words asking him not to worry.
Mr.Singhania was also successful in tracing Dr.mac's number. Dr.Mac was a leading cancer specialist. Mr.Singhania had the opportunity to meet Dr.Mac when he was in US for a few years for his treatment. Though Dr.Mac did not treat Mr.Singhania, Rey and Mr.Singhania got a chance to know about him as he worked in the same hospital where Mr.Singhania was admitted. Since they all were from India, things turned good between the Singhania family and Dr.Mac.
He was a busy man and after personal request from Mr.Singhania, he accepted to personally have a look at Mr.Shekawat's case. That day Rey, Dr.Stephen and Taani were sitting in Mr.Shekawat's conference room all ready for the video conference with Dr.Mac. Mrs.Singhania was there with Mrs.Shekawat waiting impatiently to know what was going on. The conference went on for almost an hour.
Soon the conference was over and taarey came out of the room.
"Kya hua Taani??" asked her mom unable to control her curiosity.
"What did Dr.Mac say??" asked Mr.Singhania to Rey.
"I don't know...Dr.Mac and Dr.Stephen are in the meeting. They wanted to talk in private...So we both came out. We just have to wait..." said Rey.
After almost half an hour Dr.Stephen came out.
"What happened uncle?? What did Dr.Mac say??" asked Taani completely restless.
"I had mailed the reports to him and discussed your dad's case. So dear, after talking with him, we consulted few other experts and..
"And??" asked Rey standing up from the couch and walked next to Taani.
Rey and taani looked at each other while Dr.Stephen removed his glasses.
"Woh Dr.Mac has gone through the reports and as per our analysis There is still a chance to Treat your dad." The words from Dr.Stephen brought a ray of light in Mrs.Shekawat's face.
"provided..." Dr.Stephen dragged...
"Provided what??" asked Rey.
"Provided Taani cooperates with us. Since she is his biological daughter, Taani may have to accompany her father to US."
No one could actually understand what was going on. Later Dr.Stephen explained the treatment process in detail and Rey and Taani listened to him carefully. Since the doctors suggested by Dr.Mac were available the next week, it was decided that Mr.Shekawat would be admitted as soon as possible.
Unfortunately their deal and Mr.Shekawat's treatment fell on the same week. Taani was initially hesitant about it. It was not that Rey can''t handle the project all alone. Ofcourse Rey could but the problem was Taani and Rey were personally working on the deal. No one else knew anything about it. Even his secretary had no idea of what was going on in regard to this deal. Taani was really worried on how Rey would manage the entire work all alone. But Rey was successful in convincing her to go to US as he felt it more important.
Later that day the Singhania's decided to leave as Taani had to complete some legal issues on her Visa and other stuff like packing.
Before leaving,
"So uncle..Apka saara melodrama katam ho chuka hai. Just get ready to get well soon and ofcourse to meet your angry daughter who is going to pounce on you for lying to her..." he commented in a friendly tone and Taani glared at him. Mrs.Singhania and Mrs.Shekawat smiled while Rey's dad was a silent spectator of all this.
"Pareshaan hone ki koi zaroorat nahi hai...Soon you will be leaving to US for your treatment...And you will be alright" said Mr.Singhania to Mr.Shekawat
"Ab fikar karne ki koi baath nahi hai. After all I have found the best match for my daughter."said Mr.Shekawat looking at Rey. Rey and taani looked at each other.
"All that I Need to worry is about my wife. She is not like Taani. I hope she takes care of herself in my absence too..." whispered Mr.Shekawat with worry and concern for his wife.
"You are right uncle. Aunty can never manage things by herself. So Now you better get well and take care of her..." said Rey smiling at Mr.Shekawat. Mr.Singhania looked at his son with pride in his eyes. "Was he the same guy whom never cared about his family...Was he the same guy for whom all that mattered was HIS passion, HIS luxury and HIS friends... Probably not anymore...His son had really learnt the lesson of life perfectly .."he thought.
Atlast the day of Taani's departure arrived...
The Singhania's and Shekawat's reached the airport on time. All the formalities were done and they were all set to board the flight soon. While Mrs.Shekawat kept asking Taani if everything was taken, Mrs.Singhania found Taani hardly paying attention to her mom. She found her eyes fixed on Rey who was busy conversing something with his dad. Soon they were all at the boarding point and Rey and Taani looked at each other.
'Err...beta ek kaam karo!! Tum Rey se baath karke aao..We will wait for you!!" said Mrs.Shekawat and everyone agreed.
Soon they all moved away giving taarey their own personal space...Both of them looked at each other. A few minutes ago both of them were dying to talk to each other but when a chance was given, they didn't know how to utilize it.
"Err..take care of your mom..And be strong...Everything will be alright!!" he said in an assuring tone.
"Hmm...I will...And yea take care of yourself. Don't skip your meals..." she said with a gentle smile.
"Hmmm..." he said.
There was a moment of awkward silence.
"Have you taken all the necessary papers??"
"Yea..."
"Reyansh don't worry much about the deal."
"I don't think anything is left to worry. After all you have almost completed the paper works for me.. Just a few things need to be paid attention and I'll take care of them..." he said in an assuring tone..
"Fine!!" she smiled.
"I don't know if I can handle things all by myself"
"Taani if you can handle me, trust me you can do anything!!" he said in a mocking tone.
"Probably you are right!!" she said in the same mocking tone
"Now I didn't expect that!! Am hurt!!" he said in a fake anger.
There was moment of silence!!
"Kuch tho boiye Rey!! I don't know how much I'll miss you!!" she thought!
"I just want to shout how much much I love you!! But trust me Taani when you are going to return back, I'll fill your life with pleasant surprises..After how can I forget that THE GREAT TAANI SHEKAWAT LOVES SURPRISES!!" he answered back in hhis eyes. There wasn't any words needed to express their feeling. Their eyes spoke their heart.
"Taani..." Both of them turned as they heard Mrs.Shekawat's tone.
"Am coming mom.." she said and turned back to him
"Bye!!" the words hardly came out of her lips. He held her hands and stopped her from moving. She stopped and looked at him. She felt His eyes reciprocating the same feelings.
"I'll miss you!!" he said atlast and hugged her tight. Her heart lightened. Yet again he understood what she needed...she thought.
But little did she know that he was craving for this. She wrapped her arms around his neck and whispered.."I will miss you more.."
Both of them moved towards the depature. Their hearts were heavy and an unknown feeling of fear and loneliness took over them.
5 days later...
Rey was sitting in the office room completing the final works for his deal. He had to take care of everything. These 5 days made him understand how much he had got used to taani..let it be his morning drink or controlling his anger. The next morning he woke up early. After his morning shower he glanced his mobile. Ofcourse he can't expect a call from her today as she had to undergo some medical tests the same day.
Still held up in his world of thoughts, he opened his wardrobe to pick out his blazer. He found her so called sophisticated clothes lying in the side along with his suits which he wore only on important occasions. Three days before when he was in a video chat with Taani, She specifically suggested him to wear that blazer for the meeting. He held out the blazer and was about to close the door when his eyes fell on her white sari that was hanging next to his blazer. He stopped for a moment and took out the sari. He stroked his fingers gently on them and closed his eyes. All that he could remember was her petite figure wearing the sari soaking in the rain. He rubbed his fingers gently on them wondering how it would be when his fingers would play on her. He smirked. He took a deep breathe catching her sweet fragrance over them. He placed the saari back and after completing his final touch up he moved down to the office room. He had already kept all his files ready the previous night. he hated the last minute tensions and probably years of practice made him a perfectionist when it came to arranging his things. He picked up his file and headed towards his car only to find his secretary Leena waiting for him.
"Good morning sir!"
"Good morning Leena. you are here...I didn't call you today!" he asked his eyebrows raised.
"Yes sir. Taani mam's strict order that I should be here on time and make sure you don't have any last minute discomfort for being on your own!!" she said gently.
"Sir so can I join you??"
"Sure!! After all its TAANI MADAM's ORDER!!" he said in a sarcastic tone.
She looked at him with her eyebrows raised. Poor girl! Looks like her entire life would go waste trying to understand her boss and his mood swings!!
Rey smirked at her helpless reaction and said.. "Just kidding...Let's go!" he said and both of them moved towards the car.
Soon while Rey was driving the car and Leena was browsing the files that Rey asked her to verify. He stopped near the near the signal and looked at his watch.. There was pretty much time left. He felt he had done the right thing by starting early.
At the same time Leena's phone started ringing and she looked at him..
"Go on!!" he said.
She picked up the call and as she could not hear the person in the opposite end, she slid down the window panes. As she was held up in the call, Rey noticed a couple on the motorbike next to him. They were probably teenagers having their cute moments next to him. The guys whispered something into her ear and she listened to him carefully and suddenly she blushed. Rey smirked as he saw them in his from mirror. He closed his eyes and imagined how Taani would feel when he would take her on a bike ride..At the same time he suddenly heard a loud cry from Leena. He was shocked to find that a motorbike suddenly sped towards them and one of the guy snatched something from Leena. Leena tried her best to restrain the guys. The guys were irritated at a moment and the guy sitting behind took out a sharp metal. He was about to make a mark on her skin while Rey was successful in saving her by pulling her towards him.
sss... he hissed in pain as he took the scratch himself in the process of saving Leena. Soon the guy on the motorbike moved away and Rey saw him in the fromt mirror. The guy took out his helmet and it was Rohan. REy clutched the steering wheel in fury while Leena couldn't make out anything. After all everything happened in just few moments. But still there was a question unanswered. Why did Rohan have to attack Leena. With so many things Rey kept glaring at the motorbike that was moving Rohan raised his hand and pointed to the bag he was holding and Rey's world stopped there...
Rohan wasn't just carrying his bag. It was Rey's life, his hardwork, the trust that Taani had on him, Rey's final opportunity to come out of his guilt. He stripped off the seat belt and got down from the car and tried to chase the motor bike giving a damn about his bleeding hands. His senses did not help him at that moment to warn him that he wasn't a superhero who could just get his target just like that. But Rey's pain or hardwork did not help him capture his bag from the speeding motorbike..
At a point his body gave up and he fell on the road watching the motorbike disappear along with his future...
"Sir..." cried Leena and tried to follow Rey while she noticed his mobile on the ground. She picked it from saw the name "DAD!" flashing on the screen. She instantly picked it and answered the call.
He knelt down in pain when a pair of arms touched his shoulder.
"Rey!!" whispered his dad and Rey could not control himself. He hugged him tight like a 5 year old would do. HE cried his heart out and his dad tried to pacify him and took him to the car he brought. Rey was completely blank at that moment. It was the same feeling that you would get when you build a castle in sand with so many dreams and expectation and finally watch it getting washed away by the waves.
Mr.Singhania helped Rey to get up and took him into his car and ordered the driver to move. He patted Rey's cheeks to make Rey face him.
"It okay!!" he tried to say.
"It's not okay!!" shouted Rey and clutched his hair forcefully neglecting his dad's words.
Mr.Singhania was stunned for a moment. Rey continued...
"It's not okay dad...What would I do now. Why should this happen to me alwayzz..." he shouted.
"Rey listen to me..."
"No!! Everything is over dad..What would I do now...go and trace the bloody bas***d?? And then?? I have already lost them..."
his eyes were red with pain and his helplessness clearly visible in his eyes.
He moved closer to his dad..
"Dad...dad...how would I face her now...Dad I had promised to win this deal.."
Mr.Singhania wiped the stains of tears from his son's face. He looked like the same 7 year old kid once again.
"She was the only one who trusted me when I couldn't trust myself with this deal...I...I..thought I would win the deal for her...And for you..I thought I'd earn back your trust if I win this...Dad what will I tell her now???...How will I face her now??"
"I don't deserve her..." he cried. Mr.Singhania lost his control now. He clutched Rey's shoulder forcefully and shouted..
"Things are still under control dammit...Do you understand???"
Rey looked at him unable to understand what was going on.
"The copy you had was a fake one. Infact it was just a backup. I have the original deal papers..." he shouted.
"Par dad..."
"Sir ham pahunch gaye..." said the driver.
"Fine!!" Mr.Singhania got down followed by Rey. Rey couldn't just understand what was going on..Was he dreaming. Everything around him looked like an action movie without much logic.
"Rey we don't have time to waste...Get your first aid done...Fast!!" he said and the driver helped Rey with the first aid kit. Mr.Singhania quickly proof read the copy he had . Mr.Singhania removed his blazer and passed it to Rey asking him to wear it. Soon Rey adjusted his attire sitting in the car while Mr.Singhania waited outside..
As soon as Rey was ready, he got the papers from Mr.Singhania.
"Dad how did you get them. I don't understand anything going on around me.."
"We don't have any time left Rey. Will discuss all these things later.."
"Par dad.."
"Rey is your final opportunity to get back what you have lost more important that yourcuriosity...Just forget everything and concentrate on the deal...Remember you can'taffort to let down those who trust you!" said Mr.Singhania and Rey looked at him.
Soon both of them walked towards Mr.Gupta's office. As Rey was about to enter,
"Rey!!"
He paused for a moment and looked at his dad..
"All the best!!" he said.
Rey could not control his emotions anymore. He was about to hug his dad when Mr.Singhania stopped him in the middle..
"You can't afford to spoil my blazer...Didn't they teach you this basic thing in your management studies??" he asked in a serious tone raising his eyebrows.
Rey smirked and passed a professional handshake to his dad and was about to move in when he heard his dad say...
"Probably I may accept your hug if you win the deal..."
Rey turned to his dad and said with a gentle smile...
"Then be ready to hug your son!! " he said and both of them moved in...

Fine I don't want to hold it anymore...The much awaited Taarey anniversary will reach ou in the next update...And yea...guys...just 3-4 more chapters left...Thank you sooo much for making this happen!!!
I don't know if the chapter was worth the wait...But unfortunately it was very important for the development of the story...The next 3 chapters are going to be very important...So I won't delay for 2 weeks...I'll try my level best to post it the following weekend itself!!!
