Came across this news article about a child who was raped and being married off to the son of the rapist because Bal Vivah is the norm in their community.
I am posting it here in the forum as this show is all about child marriages and the plight of girl child in a feudal community.

https://www.ndtv.com/article/india/panchayat-asked-6-year-old-rape-survivor-to-marry-alleged-rapist-s-son-on-parents-request-415512?pfrom=home-lateststories
The shocking decision of a community panchayat in Rajasthan's Kota district, which ordered a six-year-old rape survivor to marry her alleged rapist's son earlier this week, had come on the request of the girl's parents.

The 40-year-old neighbour allegedly raped the girl twice, a fortnight ago and again on Wednesday. The incident occurred at Keshavpura in Kota, 250 km from Jaipur.

The six-year-old's parents had approached the panchayat, asking it to prevail upon the alleged 40-year-old rapist to get his 10-year-old son married to their daughter.

Child marriages are common in Rajasthan with betrothals often taking place in childhood while the girls are sent to their marital homes on attaining puberty.

"His son is 10-12 years old, so we said let them get married or engaged at least for now and when they are adults, we will get them formally married," the girl's mother said.

The parents made the request to save their "honour" as they felt they would not be able to find a match for their child after the incident.

But the rapist refused to obey the panchayat order, offering instead to marry the minor himself.

"He refused to obey the panchayat but said he can marry her. How can a 40-year-old man marry a small child?" the child's grandfather said.

It was then that the girl's family approached the police, which arrested the accused on Thursday.

This is reality we live in.
Child gets raped by a monster of a neighbour and her parents way of solving the problem is by getting her married to the monster's ten year old son and pack her off to the monster's pace so that he can have his way with her🤢😡

What's more the panchayat which is supposed to be responsible for dispensing justice thinks that this is a viable option.

Obviously the reality is much worse than what is being shown.

This is the present situation on Indian society for rapist,i dont know where it will end😲

Only three out of every 100 rapists will ever spend even a single day in prison, according to a new analysis by RAINN of Justice Department data. The other 97 will walk free, facing no consequences for the violent felony they have committed. Because rapists tend to be serial criminals, this leaves communities across the nation at risk of predators.

While the percentage of rapes reported to police has risen in recent years, a majority " 54% " still are not reported, according to the Justice Department. But increasing reporting alone won't solve the problem: only about one out of four reported rapes leads to an arrest, and only about one out of four arrests leads to a felony conviction and incarceration.

RAINN's new analysis is based on the most recent available Justice Department data, using an average of the five most recent years when available. Based on older data, RAINN had previously estimated that about 6% of rapists ultimately go to prison for their crime.

"This staggering statistic sends a clear message to offenders that they can commit this horrible crime and get away with it. The single most important thing we can do to prevent rape is to put more rapists in prison," notes Scott Berkowitz, RAINN's president and founder. "That's why we have made it a priority to pass the SAFER Act and eliminate the backlog of untested DNA evidence from open rape cases."

The old 🤬 raped that little girl, will he let her live after she goes into his family? Don't know how one can do such things to little children. Thinking of such children makes me cry!

I don't know when our people are going to change their mind set.
The only thing they are bothered about is the social stigma this act carries and only interested in fixing that.
Panchayat should have assured them that they would take measures to ensure that child doesn't suffer . Instead of that they propagate the archaic and feudalistic way of thinking.
What better can be expected if the leadership of the community behaves this way?

Aparna - My heart goes for the little girl. Her parents and the panchayat 🤬 What is the society coming to?? 😈
Urgent social intervention by well minded NGOs is needed to rescue the girl from her parents and the panchayat.

I feel disgusted to see the state of our society today.Rape to a six year old????I mean is there any humanity left on this planet? And then the so called ministers and pg3 ppl make statements that girls should not step out alone or wear short dresses.W*F Can u say that this rule applies to a 6 yr old??? And a female wont even in her wildest dreams think to molest a man even if he walks naked on streets. Its not abt clothes...its about the sick mentality.

And the worse part if it all is that not just men but we women too are equally responsible for whats happening in our society. All those women who know how to teach their daughters not to get molested but dont teach their sons to respect women. All those women who consider their daughters are a burden than their strength. All those women who treat their sons as the maharaja of the house and daughters as shit.Women who get ready to marry of their daughters to monsters just because they want to get rid of them.Honestly such women dont deserve to be called MOTHERS! Because they are the ones who create inequality and the feeling of supremity in men.

I know the law the order the govt all are responsible for being lenient with such criminals but I sincerely feel that if each mother of our society teaches her sons to respect women and has the courage to even get her son arrested and to disown him if he even tries to harm a women we wont even need a law and order system to handle this sorry state of our society. If each father can be bold enough to consider his daughter his pride than a burden and can teach his son that a healthy society comes from respecting the physical and emotional dignity of the other gender...then we wont need any courts to tackle such crimes.

Because at the end of the day its all about the psychology.Law can curb the crime but cannot remove it.To remove it we need to change the mentality.

This is the reality of our country, Our children are safe nowhere. Just think the plight of these children.
Unless the mindset is changed this is never going to end which is again seems like far fetched thing.
Awareness is necessary for everyone. How can people think about such things for little children who are just like flowers.
After going thru hell they are again forced to be in that hell life long, Ar that man going to leave her . She will be raped again.
I hope Balika Vadhu address all these issues as this is one of the media which many people watches. Though for these kind of people this mere show cant change anything drastically but even if 10% also changes that will be measured as the success of the show
