Hi everyone ๐ค
As you might be knowing, there's a world-wide voting going on for choosing our new seven wonders of the world...and I'm proud to say our very own Taj Mahal has made it to the top 21 !! ๐
According to the site:
His selection of wonders was essentially a travel guide for fellow Athenians, and the stunning sites were all located around the Mediterranean basin, the then-known world.
The monuments he chose, to be remembered in perpetuity, were:
- The Lighthouse of Alexandria The Temple of Artemis The Statue of Zeus The Colossus of Rhodes The Hanging Gardens of Babylon The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus
- The Pyramids of Egypt
Now, just as Pierre de Coubertin revived the Olympic Games in 1896 with his modern version of the competition, New7Wonders founder Bernard Weber is seeking to revive the concept of the 7 Wonders of the World with this ambitious global campaign, the New 7 Wonders of the World.
The new wonders that are selected will be the people's choices, and they will be drawn from the earliest time that humankind walked upon the earth up through the year 2000.
It is, therefore, possible that the only survivor of the original 7 Wonders of the World, the Pyramids at Giza, could be chosen for a second time, taking them well into a third millenium of fame!
Originally Two Indian Monuments had been part of the top 30-odd monuments...Taj Mahal and the Madurai Meenakshi Temple! ๐ Unfortunately the temple lost out due to lack of votes
But we wont allow that happen to Taj right I wanted to spread the message to as many Indians as possible...and was racking my brains non-stop on how to do that...then I felt like kicking myself ๐...what better place to spread the word to lots of Indians than India-forums ๐๐๐ ...so i sincerely request all of you...please spend atleast 10 minutes so that this Indian monument can claim it's rightful position as one of the World's Top Seven Wonders ๐ณ
