The newly-crowned winner of Indian reality television programme, Bigg Boss, Rahul Roy seems to have finally shed his reclusive image.

On a recent visit to the Capital, Roy shared his experience of appearing in his first reality show.

"Whatever I believed in has become strengthened now. It gives me great pleasure to see that the new Indian continues to believe in the age-old values. My victory goes on to show that these values are still effective and they are still the key to a successful life," he said.

While he maintained his regular calm and composure self throughout the show, he admitted that there were moments of anxiety. "My wife, Rajyalakhsmi, underwent a spinal surgery in Australia on December 5. Despite that, I was given the news that she was all right. I was very desperate to talk to her. Just hearing from someone that she is fine, was not enough," said Roy.

"The moment I was named a winner and I was outside the house, my brother gave me the phone so I could speak to her," he said, adding that she is doing very well now. "I am now eager to return to doing good work," he says.

"My agent told me that I have some offers, but I need to get back to Mumbai and go through them, before I say anything." One of the reasons for his success at Big Boss was the distance he maintained from all the housemates, besides keeping himself aloof from gossip.

"I liked talking to Ravi Kishen because both of us were spiritually inclined. I hate to get into a situation where I say something incorrect or inappropriate and regret it later. I think it is damaging to speak a lot."

As he gears up for a fresh innings in Bollywood, Rahul keeps his lucky T-shirt handy. "It has always been there. I have two similar T-shirts. Both have been lucky for me. Whenever the moment comes when I need moral support, it will always be there," says the reclusive star.
