Prologue
In a world marred by dirty politics, power struggles, and bloodshed, two driven souls aimed to make their mark. In a place where family, relationships, ethics have no value, in a dog-eat-dog mind set, Shiv and Gauri tried to prove themselves worthy. Worthy of what they thought was the ultimate truth—absolute supremacy. What they will do, how far they will go, and how well they play "the game" will in due course determine who wins. It will be up to them, however, to decide whether they have lost more than they have won.
Gauri was born a Chatterji. The name itself brings about a fearful respect amongst the people, for associated with it, is years of countless murders, corruption, and an authoritarian rule. Gauri has grown up seeing her father, and his posse, or company as he called it, maintain a monopolial leash on the people they governed. Her father had but one motto: the end justifies the means. Gauri looked up to her father; "if there is a God", she muses "it can be no other, than Baba".
Although her demure, seductive appearance, she acquired from her mother, that is about all Gauri got from her. Otherwise, Gauri Chatterji is Alok Chatterji's daughter. The same fighting instinct, the same brazen conduct, absolute confidence, and a mind that less than a handful can figure out, she personifies her father to a T. Her next mission will be her most important. It's an opportunity to prove herself worthy to those who doubt her, but more than anyone else, to her own father. Will she be successful or does fate have other plans for her?
Shiv Kapoor was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. In fact, his beginnings were so humble, that even a plastic spoon was considered a luxury, growing up. His first dehumanizing incident was also his first humanizing one; dehumanizing because he witnessed his father murder his mother in front of his very 10 year old eyes, and humanizing because that was the first time Shiv felt the very emotions that make a human: fear, rage, anger, and sadness all at once.
Those are all things of the past now, as Shiv, a self made man, is climbing steadily up the not-so-steady ladder of local politics. Just one hurdle remained between him and "the big money"—Alok Chatterji. Now, he will use Alok's own game against him, going at any lengths to get what he wants. "After all" he says with a smirk, "the end justifies the means, does it not?"

Hey everyone...this idea popped into my head a while ago (although, it's inspired from different books i've read over the years, so if you see any similarities, let me know, and i'll give credit where it's due)...anyway, so yeah..I'm very bad at regular updates, but im going to try hard to update this one at least weekly. This was just a prologue, the real story begins in the next part--it's going to be mostly in the third person, but some chapters might be through Shiv or Gauri's eyes. Okay, done with the lecture...ENJOY AND LEAVE FEEDBACK!!
