Sidharth Malhotra who rose to fame with his very first film Student of the year recently had to send a legal notice to the creator of a fake website which was selling merchandise like in the name of the actor.

The owners of the website, who seem to be huge fans of the actor are misusing his name in order to earn big by bluffing fellow fans of the actor.

The only objection he had in this case is the fact that they were selling goods and clothing on his name on this particular website.

That's something illegal to do and he asked them not to use his name for selling or any commercial transaction or gain on the site.

"There are over 31 Sidharth Malhotra Fan Clubs online and they're genuine Fan Clubs. The reason a legal notice was sent to the fake website is because it was a pirate and selling merchandise without permission". said the spokesperson of Sidharth.

Actor Sidharth Malhotra was in for a rude shock when he recently learnt of a fansite selling merchandise featuring his likeness without his permission.

It all began when two Delhi-based students (also ardent fans of the actor) started connecting with other fans of the actor through social networks and their fansite. It was all harmless until they started selling merchandise (T-shirts, mugs and the like) bearing the name and likeness of the actor.

When he learnt of it, he politely asked the boys a couple of times to cease their money-making activities and stop misleading his fans.

The boys promised him they would refrain each time they were warned, but continued selling the merchandise.

What's more, a few companies got in touch with the actor, to inform him about fans who were approaching them on his behalf. To ensure this was completely true, someone from the actor's team, placed an order for a T-shirt, which was acknowledged by the owners. Once he got all his facts right, the actor finally sent the boys a legal notice for using his name and likeness for commercial benefit, without his permission.
