THE PEDESTAL- Chapter 31

If given time he would have ogled her beauty all day long but unfortunately the day had to come to an end and the spell was broken. He had seen it all, the sky turning orange then blue and then darkness prevailed indicating it was night. They had lied down in the very position for hours, sleep had however caught up with Khushi and she had closed her eyes but for Arnav this reality was no less than a dream. No words were spoken but their eyes did the talking, he was holding on to this hope, this slim silver lining. He would prove his love to her and make her trust him with her life, he promised himself. Khushi woke up from Arnavs soft caresses on her cheek, they were still entangled in a very intimate position but more than that the person who was right infront of her his eyes held her captive. The dark browns were not only promising assurance and safety, they were promising love, one thing Khushi has ran away from all her life. She never believed in love, though she had all the reasons to but considering herself a 21^st century girl for her love had a totally different meaning. For her love was vulnerability, weakness, giving too much and getting too less. What she did not understand yet was that she had given her everything to this man who's thumb was driving her crazy and involuntarily she had closed her eyes, his voice brought her out of her dream land.

"Its time for dinner love, I wouldn't want my newly wedded wife to starve on the first night" he chuckled.

*FIRST NIGHT* this thought made her jump away from him only to feel apologetic after seeing the hurt in Arnavs eyes.

"Sorry you took me by surprise umm.. I.. "

"Its ok Khushi". He climbed off the bed and headed outside after informing her of the dinner plans.

"I think we should have dinner with everyone downstairs, that's more safe."

The door was shut with a soft click and it acted as a trigger for Khushis tears. She couldn't see him like this, so exposed, he was a man of a hard skin around him and she was breaking that skin with her own hands. Sure there was no need to be so rude and startled, oh how would she fix this mess now!!

Dark rooms and depressing colors were his forte, wasn't his life the same!

All he ever needed to set up a place was a table, chair and lots of drugs. This devil of a person was fueled by cocaine and nothing less and now he was in HIS city.

"Sir I really cant believe that bloody Raizada turned out to be such a smart ass".

Shyam was furious, not because he had led down his master but because nobody had ever beaten him and this man RAIZADA was the first to beat him in his own game when he had not even started playing.

"Kill them all, one-by-one, torture them! I DON'T KNOW SHYAM!! GET ME MY REVENGE, HOW? I f**kING DON'T KNOW! WHY THE f**k HAVE I HIRED YOU!!!!"

Bloodshot eyes starred at the young man, sure Rodger was high on cocaine but nothing has he ever wanted more than his revenge. It was time he stopped playing around and showed them who he really was.

"That is too easy Rodger, killing them is like setting them free"

"What should we do then, worship them u IDIOT!!!"

Shyam Jha was a man of small patience but only infront of Rodger did he practice the few he had. This monstrous man owed him his life and he couldn't deceive him or more so disobey.

"You leave this on me sir, I WILL GET YOUR REVENGE". However Rodger knew his words held no promise and he hated this fact where there was no surety.

"Get out of this room Shyam and get me the girl!"

He wanted Khushi, NO he needed her now!

Had he not suffered so much loss, who would want to buy a married woman now, that too Arnav Singh Raizadas wife. But this was no more about money, he would sell her and make her a s**t if no less. His golden egg might have turned into stone but she was still very useful in destroying Rishab Raizada and getting his love back. ANAHITA!

There was an awkward silence on the dinner table. Payal refused to even look at Khushi, Lavanya was throwing sorry glances at Arnav, Akash had all his attention on the stubborn Payal, NK poor thing time to time started conversation which died soon and Arnavs brain was working in high speed to pay attention to anything.

"I really didn't wish for such a dead party after my wedding".

5 pair of eyes suddenly started gawking at Khushi as if she had 2 horns on her head. Arnav who was sitting right beside her had taken a 90 degree turn just to make sure if she was the one who had said this.

"What is wrong with you people" still no response from the audience.

Mustering up all her courage Khushi Kumari- no cut that- Khushi Arnav Singh Raizada

"Look guys… Im sorry ok! I over reacted! But that's me… I always panic and everything happened so suddenly, the marriage and all. Peej im so so so sorry *Khushi reached across the table to hold Payals hand* it was my sudden reaction that I took out on you. I know I was unfair please forgive me. And Arnav *She turned to her husband, payals hand still clasped in her hand* you did not have to jump of the bed in that manner as if you had seen a ghost all I said was- *she stopped all of a sudden as payal had squeezed her hand*"

Khushi asked Payal from the gesture of her eyes that what happened and she replied hardly suppressing her laughter.

"Khushi we need not know what happened in the room or on the bed between you husband and wife".

While the table erupted in laughter Khushi had turned beet root but she knew very well what Payal had done. Her selfless friend had stopped her from apologizing and had her forgiven her in a winks time.

She was still in her happy thoughts regarding Payal when she felt the caress again on her cheek. Arnav couldn't stop himself from reaching out to her red cheeks and on instinct he brushed the back of his palm on her cheek latter finding it redder.

The dinner had prolonged from all the ooo's and aaa's while Arnav and Khushi were aware they had a long night ahead and a lot to talk about.
