CHAPTER-41.
As soon as the car stopped both of them were almost thrown out of the front window,due to the sudden stop,and thanks to the seat belt,they were still safe on their seats..Prithvi sat breathing hard,and turned to face Meera,whose head was turned sideways,and staring out the window,even then..
"Why did you ask me to stop like this?!!"Prithvi asked Meera in amazement..
Slowly Meera turned her head to face him,and the overjoyed expression on her face completely baffled him..
"Meera,what ha-"Prithvi's sentence was not completed when Meera pointed out of her side window,and Prithvi squinted,to see what she was pointing at.
All Prithvi could see were just trees..
"What are you pointing at Meera?!I can't see a thing.."He murmured as he kept looking..
Still Meera did not reply and kept pointing out excitedly through her side window.Prithvi unbuckled his seat belt and leaned a bit to her side for a better view,and suddenly Meera pulled him halfway across her lap,so that he had a better view through her window..
Prithvi could not see,if whatever she was pointing at,was dancing right infront of his nose at that very moment..His heart raced like a crazy thing,as he inhaled her sweet smell,and if he just turned his head,he could kiss her lips..Prithvi's one hand was on her lap and the other on the dashboard for support,as he lay at that awkward position trying unsuccessfully to concentrate on whatever she was pointing at..He clenched his hand into tight fists,to resist himself from touching her in anyway whatsoever..She leaned a bit forward,to point out to him better,when her lose hair tickled him,and Prithvi's control was just about to snap..
Just then Meera cupped his hard cheek,and made him face her,and look into her eyes..And Prithvi knew he was dead meat today..He was drowning in her eyes,and then his eyes moved down to her pouty lips..And he was just getting closer to seal them with his own,when her hand came in between..
Inhaling a staggering breath Prithvi managed to look up when he finally noticed,she was showing him her forefinger..
"Follow my finger!"She said excitedly,and Prithvi's eyes did just that..
Prithvi's eyes followed her finger,down to her hand,then her slim arms,then her neck,then her throat,then was moving downwards,when Meera made him turn his head,by cupping his jaw again..
"Look where I'm pointing!"She said in an excited voice,and finally Prithvi managed to concentrate in the direction she was pointing at..And squinting his eyes finally discovered the cause of her excitement..His eyes widened in astonishment,and straightening back on his seat,he turned to face her..
"DHABA?!!"Prithvi asked in a flabbergasted voice.
"You made me hard break the car on a highway like that,just because you saw a roadside Dhaba?!!"Prithvi asked in an exasperated voice..
As Prithvi looked on,the amazing girl,instead of looking guilty or sorry,just pouted her lips at him,making his heart start racing like crazy again..Prithvi inhaled another staggering breath,to compose himself.
"I'm hungry.."She said pouting her lips once again and making a woebegone expression.
Her expression finally made Prithvi chuckle out,and he shook his head in amazement at the incorrigible child woman's antic.
"Okay let's get down to eat.."Prithvi said as he drove his car to the parking lot by the Dhaba,and parked it there."Come on Miss Hungry,let's get some food into you!"He said smiling teasingly at her once again,and opened his door when he realized Meera was not making any move to get down from the car..
"Now what's wrong?Didn't you just say you are hungry?!"Asked Prithvi in an amazed voice.
"Yes..But how can I get down in this condition..?What will people say?"She said in an embarrassed voice,also coloring up at the same time.
When she mentioned it,that was when Prithvi really noticed her disheveled condition..His eyes moved down her face and body,as he noticed the dirt smears on her face,the bruises and cuts on her both hands,and arms,her green kamiz torn at different places,and her dupatta was also missing..Her bare injured feet also made its impact on Prithvi..Finally when Prithvi looked up,he saw her looking away in embarrassment,trying hard to act normal,as her fair skin glowed pink with her embarrassment..This was one strong willed and brave girl,Prithvi decided..And he did not want to do anything ever to break her spirit or embarrass her further,ever,he decided.
"You wait in the car,I'm seeing to it.."Prithvi murmured and got out of the car...
Meera was sitting in the car for five minutes when a small boy of around 11 years came running towards the car with a thali and a mineral water bottle in his hand,and knocked on Meera's door with a smile.As Meera opened the car door,the kid handed the thali to Meera and with an impish smile said,
"Bhaia sent this thali for you Bhabi..Do you need anything else..?"
"Bhabi?!"Meera asked in a shocked voice.
"Yes that tall Bhaiya over there,told my dad that his wife was injured,and needed to be served food in the car..So my dad sent me.."Finished the kid with a winning smile.
"No..I don't need anything else.."Said Meera,smiling lovingly,at the kid,and watched the kid's departure thoughtfully,as the kid ran away,the thali forgotten in her hand...
After fifteen minutes Prithvi walked towards the car to check on Meera,if she had finished her food,and if they could continue their journey.On reaching her side of the car,Prithvi was amazed to see Meera sitting quietly,and staring faraway with the food still untouched in her hand..
"You still didn't eat Meera?!"Prithvi asked her in amazement,"What's wrong you don't like cholay batorey?!"
A startled Meera stared back at him,through the open car door,and stared down at her untouched plate of food,and colored in embarrassment..
"No..I like it..I'm eating .."She murmured in embarrassment..
She raised her hand to eat the food,when she noticed the cuts and grazes,and bandages on her hand,and her scraped palm,and hesitated..
Prithvi noticed them,too..And the next thing he did,shocked the daylight out of Meera..
"Here,give me the thali and let me feed you..You can't eat by yourself with that hand of yours.."Said Prithvi in a soft voice,and took the thali from a stunned Meera...
