Tanhai mein hum aqsar chahte the
Kii hum unn yaadon ko apne se mitta de
Lekin ab afsos hai uss chah ka..
Kyunki hum jiye unn yaadon mein
Jab uss tanhai mein hamare saas thamti
To yaadein banti thi vo yun
Aur khwaishein phir jinne kii tamannah diye

Geet was lying in her bed in her room caressing the papers and going through them again n again. The torn, crumpled papers she had found in the room-her room-which Maan had adorned with beautiful memories, she had straightened them up n fixed them with tape. Now they were in a file, her treasure. To feel his undying love, his excruciating pain, she read them daily. Her heart cried in agony-his word cutting through her because she was the reason for his condition n yet it also hopped in elation because the same words were filled with so much of love just for her. Was it even possible to feel them together or was she mad? Whatever it was, she wanted it… may be his pain more than his love.
She wished she could take it all back n give him everything that she had but she had so little n he ought to had so much more. Incapable and worthless, what a dead person could present?
In the past few days this room has become her den. When Maan left for office she came here. And it felt like she was back to that awesome phase of her life, back to her old self. She cleaned the room-something which she never did when she actually had the room in New York-but now she had realized its value, she talked to the stuffed toys, played her guitar, touched every single thing n laid in her bed with so much peace in her that she doubted whether someone had transported her to heaven. It was all because of Maan, he was her angel.
Her path to paradise.
When they had come back from his office three days ago, she had gone back to her room. Only there was no room. Maan had converted it back to his study. When she asked him where her room was? He had looped his arms around her waist n said huskily. My room is your room.
All her belongings- clothes n medicines etc were shifted to his room n Geet was incredulous. But Maan- Shh…He kissed the corner of her mouth. The deal is equal. I am sharing my room with you and in return, my dear wife; you have something of great interest to me. I want you to share that with me. He kissed her neck fervently and she had a feeling that his words were not just intimate innuendo but something deeper. She gasped audibly when his very talented tongue lapped at her skin. Heat rouse in the pit of her stomach as she pressed his face more into her neck, twisting it to give him more space.
His hot mouth trailed kisses down her cleavage then he pushed her on bed, for more comfortable access, covering her petite frame with his broad, firm one. She melted under his weight n was more than happy to live in his room. Like a husband-wife they would share a room and she would live under the shadow of his protection.
He just couldn't seem to get enough of her n kissed her on mouth with such passion n wanton demand that she started floating. He groaned into her mouth, pushing his body more into her.
After making out a bit more, somehow, he tore his mouth away from her body n breathed into the crook of her neck. God Geet! You make me mad. She smiled n whispered naughtily. Same here. It was the jingle in her voice he was hearing after ages that made him look into her hazels. They were hollow n blank yet he had hope that deep inside she was there, he just had to extent his hand further and reach her.
He kissed her forehead n eyes then nose n lastly pecked her lips. With great effort, he then stood up. She sat up too looking at him tenderly; ready to offer it all, her lips swollen n clothes haphazard. Yet, no matter how much he wanted to take her, make crazy love to her all the time, he couldn't. She looked just too frail n Maan was almost afraid of breaking her. And moreover he had some other, very important work too.
Geet corrected her clothes n stopped him when he started to go out of the room. Licking her dry lip, she tentatively indicated towards the huge bulge in his pants n he rubbed his temple with a cute 'oopsie' smile on which she went totally fida; that was her Maan from college days. The Maan she had fallen for again n again. I think it's time for a cold bath. He walked into the bathroom instead n she had no complaints that he left her. He had told her already that he left her previously only because of her health. He wanted her.
Someone knocked on the door n Geet knew it was Nakul. Only he was aware that she came into this room which was prohibited by Maan for anyone to enter. Aapse koi milne aaya hai.
When Geet came downstairs there were two unknown ladies. Take the measures. One of them said to the other. The other girl came in front n started to take Geet size.
Yeh aap log kya kar rai hai? Geet asked confused n a bit scared.
We are just taking your measurements Ma'am, won't bother you much. The same lady-who had spoken earlier-this time said to her. She told Geet her name n informed that she was a designer n then introduced her assistant who was taking Geet's size. The last thing she told was that were sent by Maan. After that both left leaving Geet all the more confused.
These are the clothes that you had selected. The designer said bringing the clothes that Maan had selected earlier from her private store. Just now they were of Geet's size as he had ordered the designer to provide clothes of Geet's measurements n do necessary alterations. The designer who happened to be one the best designers of the country was just too pleased to work for MSK n practically was on her toes until she finished her work as fast as possible. After being paid a humongous sum of money by Maan, she took her leave.
The attires Maan had chosen were not Geet's usual suits. They consisted of knee length skirts, some short skirts but mainly jeans n leggings, with beautiful collection of matching tops n kurtis and there were some dresses too. They were not too scanty in fact were quite decent n conservative because Maan had selected them very carefully so that Geet wouldn't feel extra conscious. Yet he knew, for his wife who wore closed necks n full sleeves mainly, these clothes were going to be a challenge.
It again pained him immensely how much she had changed but his Geet, his toy girls, liked to wear such clothes n he didn't want to leave any stone unturned in getting her back. May be the changed clothes would result in a change of attitude too. Why she was so repulsed of such clothes which she used to like earlier so much Maan didn't know. But he knew that she didn't have to worry or be scared anymore because he was there with her now. And wanted her to do everything that she loved, he wouldn't allow her to compromise with her happiness anymore.
Last three days he couldn't give her much time. Whole day went in office, the remaining with Jia n at night he worked on his laptop while making her sleep beside him. There was just so much work n this new thing that he had taken in hand was in planning stage and needless to say everything was ought to be perfect in it. Tiredness of entire day melted like hot wax when he pulled her sleeping form into him n cuddled with her. It was like she absorbed all fatigue n restlessness n filled him with an air of eternal calm n contentment. She didn't wake up because of her pill still her breath only was enough to blow that life in him.
He came back home super excited just dying to see her reaction on his surprise. He knew she would protest n tell thousand of things but he was also her Maan, he wasn't going to give up that easily. Walking with servants behind him, he ordered them to put all the bags containing the clothes down. Servants walked out n he called for her impatiently. Geet… She was nowhere to be seen then he heard sound from the bathroom. He rushed inside n found her sitting against the wall in a corner, clutching her hairs.
Pain ripped through her and her head was on fire. She had vomited again n it started to get worse. Now it felt her skull was going to burst. She couldn't take the pain anymore. The muscles all over her body stretched, tightening around her bones making any movement impossible. She was crying without sound n at that moment she wanted to die more than ever before. Shivers went up n down her body because she felt extremely cold. Someone shook her n she jerked the person away like a wounded animal, red, sour eyes blazing.
His frantic voice slashed through the brutal buzz in her head n finally she registered it was Maan. He very cautiously touched her again so as to not scare her. When she didn't flinch he took her in his arms. Burying her face in his chest she clutched his arms, pressing her nails into his skin. Geet blabbered…. I….vomited again. Bahut… dard ho…. raha hai. And countless other things that he couldn't understand. When she looked up at him with her bloodshot eyes he noticed she was gritting her teeth to fight the ache. He rubbed his hands on her back, whispered soothing words into her ear… all fruitless.
While carrying her to the bed Maan shouted for the servants. Rohan n Annie also came there where as Dadimaa was out for a tour. One servant called doctor n she came to check on Geet. It was only when she gave Geet some injection that she stopped taking long breathes n calmed down. Her shudders subsided but eyes remained wide open, she was just laying immobile taking steady slow breathes. Her tears dried on her face. The sight scared him even more. What if he lost her?
Rohan sent Annie to Jia while the doctor further checked on Geet. Depression patient, right? Geet nodded her heavy head, slowly, her vision unfocused. Did you take your meds?
Nai wo… Geet looked at Maan n his brows were furrowed. She looked down. Mai…mai bhul gai thi. Maan knew she was lying. She didn't forget to eat her meds not when it would lead to something like this.
Geet why didn't… Maan started in a stern, skeptical voice but the doc interrupted him in a polite yet firm tone. Mr. Khurana stress is not good for her, specially now. She turned to Geet n spoke with a gentle smile. Geet you should be careful with your meds, till today it was just you but from now on it's another life also.
Both Maan n Geet looked at her in utter bewilderment as she stood up. Yes, Mr. Khurana you are going to be a father. His heart missed a beat n hers completely stopped. She glanced up horrified towards Maan's face to witness the biggest grin ever there. He opened his mouth several times then stopped falling short of words then looked at Geet with so much of flowing love that she grinned back widely. Doctor too smiled seeing Maan's silly speechlessness. Your wife is two weeks pregnant.
His grin faded as the words seized to sound in the room but echoed vehemently in his brain. Maan's face slowly twisted in an ugly, pained expression. Congratulations Geet. Rohan spoke yet Geet's eyes were fixed on Maan. He fisted his hands n closed his eyes. The world suddenly crumbled n shattered upon him n he felt he would collapse.
Again…. His inner voice screamed helplessly. I would suggest that you check with your psychologist n also a gynecologist, in case. The doctor said to Geet. He wasn't listening to anything. Rohan walked out with the doc to see her off. While Maan just remained still in his place, his bones tightening inside his own skin making any movement impossible.
Maan couldn't believe the similarity of it all.
He almost laughed at the gruesome game of fate. It seemed he was back there… when doctor had come to check Shreya. Only this time it wasn't Shreya, it was Geet. Whom he thought was his, whom he wanted-needed-to be his. Everything cleared in his mind in an instant… the clouds that he had set to make his own illusion.
Nothing had changed. Here he was betrayed all over again. A failure. This time though he didn't know how he would survive, tears came into his eyes as his dream once again broke.
Maan…. He nearly staggered back. Her voice killed him. He didn't want to hear, didn't want to see her face. Hatred n disgust bubbled inside him as a result of her disloyalty. You betrayed me. He whispered loud enough for her to hear. Her eyes widened with hazy realization but without giving her a mere chance to explain he rushed out.
