Despite having a flourishing acting career in Hindi film industry, Akshay Kumar has not lost touch with his Punjabi roots.
In his next release, Namaste London , Akshay plays a Punjabi boy who falls in love with a modern girl in London. While most of the movie was shot in London, few portions were canned in Akshay's home state Punjab.
While shooting in Punjab, Akshay did what any true-bloodied Punjabi would do. He did not order his food from any hotel, but rather from a local dhaba.
"It would be cruel to eat from anywhere else in Punjab," says Akshay.
Speaking about 'Namaste London', Akki says the film is based on a real life incident that happened to his friend. Akshay told filmmaker Vipul Shah about this incident and the director decided to develop it into a movie.
The basic premise of the movie is that no matter where you go you must never forget your roots.
The movie stars Katrina Kaif as Akshay's girlfriend from London. Upen Patel also plays an important role in the film.
