Title: Imperfect yet so perfect [This is the best that I could come up with, but please do keep your suggestions coming]
Characterization (They are very similar to the show but I have changed situations a bit. Also, if you are visual reader like me, then imagine all the same characters as they are in the show but with different personalities.)
Khan Family - Based in Bhopal and has a very successful family business, Dilshaad Constructions. They are a typical happy family that loves life and will stand together during difficult times. Khans have a respectable position in the society and control most of the construction companies in Bhopal. Overall, they are a perfect family.
Rashid Ahmed Khan (Abbu) ' He is the man of the house (as of now). He runs the family business with dedication along with his son,Asad. He loves his children dearly and they hold a highest position. Although Asad has very constructive cultural perspective about how people should live their life, he believes in following his heart and not the rules and regulations of the society. Aside from being a good father, he is a great husband and a romantic one. He loves his wife dearly.
Dilshaad Ahmed Khan (Ammi) ' Mother of 5 children. They mean everything to her in this world. Even though all her children are close to her, she is closest with Asad because of his unexpressive nature. She understands him better than anybody else. She can tell what Asad is going through based on his expressions and actions.
Ayaan Ahmed Khan ' The flirt. He is complete opposite of Asad but would also do anything for his bhaijaan. Even though his Abbu is making countless efforts to turn him into a successful business man, he still wants to enjoy life as a college student. Chilling out with friends, playing guitars and making awful shayaris are his favorite pastimes. He is more like a friend to his sisters.
Sisters: Najma (tamatar) Ahmed Khan, Nikhat Ahmed Khan, Nuzat Ahmed Khan --- The princess of Khan Mansion. These 3 daughters are the most prized possession of Khan's.
Tanveer ' Asad's best friend. She knows Asad since childhood and is also very close to him. [ Before you guys go like 😡 Hear me out. She is totally opposite of the Tanveer we see in the show. She is going to be a support system for Asad to get Zoya into his life. She is going to be playing a cupid and also a positive one. If it helps imagine the old tanveer because I can see her being positive compare to the current Tanveer.]
Farooqui/ Siddiqui family - Modernized Muslim family that resides in New York, USA. They have moved to New York from Bhopal about 10 years ago and have developed a successful family business, which is now run by Guffar Siddiqui and his son-in-law Anwar. Farooqui/Siddiqui's believe in walking along with changing time, so they have given every possible freedom they can to their daughters.
Guffar Siddiqui (Abbu/Dad) ' Man of the house. He is very modern and open minded father. He has given his daughters permission to follow their hearts whether it is about education or any other important decisions in their life. His daughters mean everything to him in this world.
Eram Siddiqui (Ammi/Mom) ' Only person in the house that tries to impose some restricts on their children but is never successful because Abbu is always on Zoya, Humera and Zeenat's side. No matter how much she is mad at her daughters, she is also very proud of them as they have developed into modern and independent women that can face the world all by themselves.
Zoya Farooqui -Siddiqui ' She is the bubbly, outgoing, independent and pure at heart girl who holds her own opinions about everything. She is extremely gorgeous and sexy but doesn't know it herself. Zoya is very different and does not believe in rules but more in following her heart like her dad. She is closest with her dad and her best friend, Noreen. She is also known as "Daddy's little girl," because Guffar sides with her in every argument. She is very talented and has finished her masters in pharmacology from Yale. Even though, Guffar can set up a pharmaceutical company for her in a split of second, she believes in being independent and doing everything on her own. She worked for Pfizer for last two years but now is ready for next phase in her life.
Humera Siddiqui ' A beautiful, talented, chirpy and kid at heart girl who wants to walk in Zoya's foot steps. She looks up to Zoya as an inspiration. Most of her traits are similar to Zoya, except she is more close to her mom.
Zeenat Farooqui (Aapi) ' The oldest of the 3 sisters. She is married to Anwar and very much in love with her life right now. Her recent hobby is to team up with Ammi to find an eligible bachelor for Zoya.
Anwar Farooqui (Jiju) ' Zeenat's husband. He takes care of the family business under the watchful eyes of Guffar Siddhiqui. He is very funny and outgoing person and likes to spend time with his wife and his saalis.
Noreen ' Zoya's best friend in US.[More on her later]
There might be more characters introduced if needed but for now this is it.
Some of you might think that there are no negative characters based on the descriptions I gave. Well, that is because I truly believe that a person is never bad. It is the situation that makes them look bad or evil. Also, this FF is going to be mostly positive situations. [ I think the current track has given lots of negativity to deal with.]
Also, I know this Siddiqui/ Farooqui last name thing doesn't make sense because I have portrayed this family as happily living together. Half of the members are Siddiquis and half are Farooquis but that is because I don't want to change their names from what is in the show. I'm so used to saying Zoya Farooqui that I cannot change it to Siddhiqui or change Guffar's last name to Farooqui. So just bear with me for the names.
I'm not going to do a prologue but give you guys a brief overview of the current situation and where the story begins.
So here we go'..
It has been 10 years since Siddiquis have left Bhopal but now that the business has been well settled Guffar want to go back to his country, his people and most importantly his best friend Rashid Ahmed Khan. Rashid has helped them out during their hard times and hold a very unique place in Guffar's heart. " It is time to go back to our people, Eram," Guffar said holding a old photograph of him and Rashid. Eram, not at all surprised by this, responds " Main aapko bohot acche se janti hu. Aapko apne jigni dost Rashid miyaa ki yaad aa rahi hai na." She knows how special bond these two friends share. Now that everything is settled here with Anwar looking after the family business they can move back. "Accha hai. Issi bahane mein Zoya ko fir se Asad se introduce to karva sakti hu. Zoya ko isse accha ladka aur parivaar kahi nahi milega," Eram thought. She always wanted to get Zoya married to Asad because she knows that family is perfect for her. Unfortunately, Eram's thoughts were running based on the Asad she knew 10 years ago. Asad back then and Asad now are total different person.
Coming out of her dreamland, Eram questioned, "Aapne Zoya se baat ki vapas jaane ke bare mein?"
" Mein baat ki hai, par.." before he could finish Zoya barged in the room. " Abbu, mein ready hu. Chalo Bhopal vapas chalte hai," Zoya said without even catching her breath. Following her decleration, Humera also walked in stomping her feet and said, "Abbu, this is not fair. Apne sirf Zoya aapi se pucha ki woh jaana chanti hai ya nahi?" Guffar was caught by surprise and didn't think that Humera would react like this. Humera always wanted to be with Zoya and rest of her family. He thought she would never say no. Looking at the confused and worried expression on her Abbu's face, Zoya broke the silence, " Abbu, aap aski baat ko serious mat loo. Ek number ki dramebaaz hai. Mazak kar rahi hai." For a second everybody stood there for silence and then broke into laughter.
Zoya put her hand around her little sister's shoulder and said, "Chalo Humera begum aapki packing suru karte hai." Both the sisters left the room talking about what they should take and what not. Everything was all set and now they are ready to move back to Bhopal.
This was bit of an intro but the story begins when Zoya goes to Bhopal and meets Asad. There will be flashbacks because Guffar and Rashid are old best friends.
I do not know if anybody has posted this type of FF but it is very much inspired by my real life.
I have a lot planned for this FF already and tons of ideas bouncing around. So let me know if I should continue or not.
