LOVE IN THE AIR
PART -7
The bright pearly rays of the sun danced into the room, stirring 2 souls out of the world they were lost into, trying to wake them up to a fine morning. The air smelled earthy and the dry and drooping plants were now boasting of their new found youth. Exhausted, none of the 2 were ready to give up the scarce sleep they managed to get after the huge drama pulling on through the night. Maan slept peacefully, while Geet stirred out of her morning habit of waking up to an early sun, yet was not ready to open her hazels. As minutes ticked along the morning welcomed the day and unknown to the duo, was Daadimaa coming towards Maans room confused with his absence. After several knocks on the door and getting no response, she pushed open the door to get a shock. The room was in an unimaginable mess, the bathroom door hanging on just a hook, the pillows and sheets scattered all over the room ; on the whole nothing looked like it was Maan Singh Khuranas room. Walking in further, she saw Maan slouching on the couch with his arms and legs dangling from all sides, whereas the bed had something covered under the duvet curled up Into a ball. Taken aback, she kept gaping at the room which looked no less than a place rigged by tornado. Unknown to her was the fact that, the tornado was none other than her grandson and his love. Taking slow steps, she proceeded to wards the couch only to see a peacefully sleeping Maan, with a smile adorning his lips. Elated, Daadi started a mental bhangra managing to trap him into another round of leg pulling. Unable to stay, she decided to wake him up from his dream sleep. " Maan.!! " she called out loudly, obtaining no response. She called out several times, only able to stir him. Giving up, she whacked his arm calling out as loud as possible, only to get a wonderful response from her love struck grandson.
" Geet.! What is it now.?? Will you please let me sleep peacefully at all.?? " he moaned into the cushion. Daadi giggled at his plight, controlling her laughter.
" Maan bte.! It's me.. Not Geet.! Now wake up. " she said, whacking his arm again. Receiving another whack, Maan lost it and opened his droopy eyes only to meet his daadis naughty smirk. He shot up, at once ; embarrassed.
" Daadi.!! U.?? Woh..when...when..did u come.?? " he asked looking away.
" Just now, while you were dreaming about her " she said winking.
" Daadi..please.! Not you now..she already didn't leave me in peace last night, now please you don't start. " he said irritated.
" Really.? You were dreaming the entire night or what ? "
" Dreaming.?? We need to sleep for dreaming, but she didn't let me sleep at all, forget dreaming. "
" Maan.! Please control yourself. You are forgetting I am your Daadi and not Geet.! " she said, taking everything wrong and got embarrassed at his talks and looked away.
" Daadi.! What are you.." He said confused, when realization hit him as to what she was assuming. His eyes, widened with astonishment.
" Daadi.! Stop it.! What are u thinking.?? This is the limit, how can u think all that.?? I just meant, she didnt let me sleep at all, with her silly antics.! God, you all are just impossible. " he said, irritated.
" Oho Maan bte.! U have started soon as you woke up. Accha, leave all that..tell me what happened.?? " Daadi said, caressing his face lovingly.
" What happened.?? Ur asking me what happened.?? Ask me, what's left.? First, she comes screaming into the room saying someone was there in her room, next she doesn't let me sleep with all her jumping around, then she wakes me up to just ask, how the hell was I sleeping so peacefully. Then she Kicks me on my butt, throws pillows and all sorts of stuff at me, makes me chase her all over the room and then is the limit, she fakes her injury and throws me into that tub, full of everything and locks me up, and then we both end up... " Maan ranted, making Daadi burst out of laughter, thankfully interrupting him from blurting out their tiny ahem ahem moment.
" Maan bte...enough.! God I never thought you can rant this much. Ohh, sorry what was the last part, you both end up.? I couldn't hold my laughter back. " she said only to make him realize the blunder he was about to commit. He mentally smacked himself for about to blurt out everything infront of her.
" Woh..em..em..nothing.! We both ended up asleep, tired of monkeying around " he lied, before Daadi could become suspicious.
" God Maan.! No wonder the room is in such mess, I can't believe you both acted like that. But, looks like my grandson had fun, as he couldn't stop smiling in his sleep too. " she winked naughtily.
" Daadi..enough. Now please, don't start ur usual business. And its not me, it's she who started it, I ended up falling pray to it. " he said, gritting his teeth to which Daadi just chuckled.
" By the way, what are u doing here.? Did you come to pull my leg early morning Daadi.? " he asked narrowing his eyes.
" You think.?? For your information, I only came to wake you up as its past you gym time and you are running late " she said faking anger.
" WHAT.?? It's already 8.30.?! Damn, I am so late.!! It's all because of this Trouble Queen , who is still sleeping peacefully even after we had such a big conversation. "
" Maan.! You really sound like her now.! Blabbering ."
" Daadi, please.! Enough. " he said, getting up and walking towards her bed to wake her up. After several attempts, he lost the last bit of contort and screamed.
" GEET.! I said WAKE UP.! " to which she instantly jerked out of her sleep without opening her eyes.
" Oye, Khurana.! Why are u still howling.?? Wasn't it enough that you were howling the entire night, that you shout In the morning too. Don't you get tired.?? You irritated me so much, and you...you..threw me " she murmured.
" GEET.! I SAID WAKE UP DAMN IT.! " he screamed angered by her audacity and before she could say anything about the tub fiasco, making her throw the duvet away and sit up straight with her hair all in a mess. The moment she opened her eyes, she saw Daadi giggling secretly. She whacked her head grinning, thinking she is still dreaming, when a touch on her shoulder brought her totally out, only to be embarrassed.
" Geet.! Will you wake up now.?? If you really want to sleep more, go to your room and sleep as much as you want. " he said irritated with the not-so-relaxed -morning. Geet just kept gaping at him and Daadi standing in the room, giving her incredulous looks. Flushed out, she threw the duvet aside and ran out of them room without looking back.
" Geet bte... " Daadi called, but too late as she was gone
" Maan, I hope she is okay. " she said worried.
" It's okay Daadi, I am sure she will be okay. You can talk to her at the table. Now please, let me get ready.! " he said, picking up his towel and moving towards the bathroom not before muttering to himself yet audible...
" This girl will drive me insane. Just like her."
" You already are Insane for her Maan.! Her love has driven you insane. Always be like this Maan...always ." She prayed and quietly left the room.
After a while, Daadi sat at the dining table for breakfast waiting for Maan and Geet to arrive. Moments later, Maan came down dressed in his usual formals, looking ever so dashing ; she just smiled seeing her grandson's charm. Maan too his chair, confused with the smile plastered on Daadis face, worrying him more.
" What happened Daadi .?? Why are you smiling at me like that.? "
" Thats because my grandson is looking more charming than usual. "
" Daadi.! Aap na, well anyway thanks a lot."
" By the way bte, I wonder why Geet isn't here. " she questioned him.
" How should I know Daadi.!! Ask Nakul, as he would be knowing "
" Ohh..I asked you cause I was sure you must be keeping track of her every moment. " she said, beginning with her daily routine.
" Ahh.! Started have you.?? Well, thanks for the suggestion Daadi, but I have more things to do too ; like you know running KC " he said, grinning at her.
" Ufff...what am I to do with you bte. " she complained.
" Good morning Daadimaa " Geet came near the dining table, pulling out a chair and smiling meekly.
" Morning Geet bte. How r u.?? Had a nice sleep!? " she said, only to be glared by Maan.
" I am fine Daadi.! How r u.?? Daadi... Woh..um..me.. Ac.. " she fumbled with woes, unable to word the events the previous night.
" Geet bte.! It's okay. Don't worry, I know what you guys were upto last night. The room said it all, although I was surprised that Maan was also a part of it. That was something new.! "
" Part.!?? Dadimaa he was the one who stated it all.. He said he will sleep... " she said looking at him, only to get a kick on her foot followed by a glare from Maan , making her realize what she was about to say. She bit her tongue, thanking herself for not blabbering it all.
" Please, now you two don't start again. Lets finish the breakfast. " Daadi instructed, while Maaneet obliged. The silence was broken by the servant, informing them about a visitor for Geet.!
" Who is it.?? " Geet inquired.
" Ma'am, he said his name is Yash. "
" YASH.! HE IS HERE.! OH MY GOD" she jumped from her seat, starting Maan and Daadi. Before anyone could question her, she ran for the table towards the hall, followed by Daadi and Maan confused with her sudden outburst. The scene in the hall, shocked Maan while confused Daadi.
Geet was tightly hugging the arrived guest, with all her might while the later reciprocated with the same passion ; shattering Maan. He stood numb, staring at the duo Hugging each other closely.
" How are you sweetheart.?? " Yash said, not leaving her.
" I am fine Yash.! How are u.?! And finally you are here.! " she said, hiding herself in his embrace.
" I missed you so much Doll. "
" I missed you too.. More than you know.! " she said, while Yash swept her off her feet twirling her, breaking Maan all the more. Unable to see his love, hugging another person so closely Maan quietly left the hall while Daadi stood helpless at his plight ; amidst this the 2 elated souls were in their own world of reunion unaware to the turmoil that passed through the room.
