The Vigil Idiot: Policegiri
Another weekend, another South Indian superhit being adapted into a Hindi remake. Director K. S. Ravikumar's Policegiri opens with a note of gratitude for Sanjay Dutt, who plays hero cop DCP Rudra, for completing the film during "trying times". This, I thought, was an apt way to describe all those days he must have spent cursing himself for signing on to this project, a remake of 2003 Tamil movie Saamy. Policegiri also stars Prakash Raj as DCP Rudra's arch-nemesis Nagori, a comical villain with a South Indian accent (a part that puts Raj right up there with bubbly-yet-feisty North Indian girl Anushka Sharma and coming-of-age young adult Ranbir Kapoor in the Diverse Role Potrayer Awards). Add in a love interest three decades our hero's junior, Prachi Desai as Sehar, and yeah…you've got a real winner on your hands here.
