There was buzz at one time that Juhi Parmar was in love with Anuj
Saxena. She talks to Roshni Olivera about it
What about your much-talked about feelings for Anuj Saxena,
especially before he got married?
Anuj and I have been very good friends from the beginning. Before
they could link me with Hussain, they linked me with Anuj, as he was
my earlier co-star in Kumkum. The truth is that we have always been
good friends. I am extremely fond of Anuj. He is a very nice human
being and a likable person. Since he is my friend, I am fond of him.
It's as simple as that; but people feel if two actors are good
friends, they have to be seeing each other.
Your co-star Hussain Kuwajerwala and you have constantly been linked.
It's only now known that he has a long-standing girlfriend, who is
not from the entertainment industry...
Honestly, the first time we were linked, it was quite a shock. We
really couldn't understand how these rumours originated. Then we got
used to them. In fact, we would laugh about it. Hussain is my dearest
friend. We just accepted it as a part of of our profession. When two
actors' onscreen chemistry is good, people tend to link them off-
screen as well. I guess it's also because we have many cases where on-
screen couples are couples off-screen as well. As far as Hussain and
I are concerned, since we knew there was no truth to the rumours, we
didn't bother about them. And there has never been any discomfort.
Is his girlfriend okay with your friendship?
I am sure she's fine.
Aren't you tired of playing the sariclad bahu in Kumkum?
It's not like in Kumkum I have played only the sari-clad bahu.
Kumkum is a young bahu and there has been a lot of romance happening
in the show. Besides, there have been a few times when I did get a
chance to wear western clothes. It was when Sumeet (her husband's
character played by Hussain) and Kumkum would go out. But, yes, I
agree change is the spice of life. Given a chance, I would love to
play another character. But I love Kumkum far too much to get bored
of ever. The character has become a part of me. You can't get bored
of yourself. But, of course, every actor would like to play different
kinds of characters. So, I'd like to do other roles along with this
one.
What do you think of serials getting long-wounded and never-ending?
That is a trend these days. Earlier, serials were weekly, now
it's only daily shows. People are addicted to it. Where Kumkum is
concerned, we can't say it is dragging. The writers are really trying
hard to give it a refreshing twist. These days on TV it has become a
lot more difficult for writers. Competition's high and they have to
live up to the expectations of the audiences. I'm not against a show
going on for long because that is the trend. I don't believe in
complaining. I believe in flowing with the tide. You might as well do
what you are doing well, rather than cribbing.
