Raja Bharmal would never propose a trade off, think of the betrayal of the Rajput aan, baan and shaan! It would be Jalal who offers to let him have his kingdom intact - they showed it in one of the early promos - and then Bharmal asks Iske badle me kya chahiye? And Jalal replies Jodha.

Don't fret, he always intended to marry her, as she is so blue-blooded, but then he has so many wives, so she would, he must have thought, be one among the many queens in his harem. Of course it did not quite turn out that way!😉

Thank you dear Aunty 😊

A thought - Why can't Jalal just confiscate Amer, make Rajputs bend their knees and get their janan khanas for his pleasure? That will automatically let him have Jodha and the others (added bonus😛). I mean, what choice would anyone in Rajputana have than to submit completely once captured.. Oh yes, there's Jauhar too... Did he fear Jodha would commit Jauhar so he proposed a bargain ?

P.S. Where did Akbar live in present day Delhi? 😊

Now, Arti my dear, that is where Jalal's inbuilt arrogance comes into play. She would become naayab because he himself, the great Shahenshah Jalaluddin Muhammed, would have taken the trouble and run the tremendous risk of abducting her! I believe he thinks she would become puffed up as a consequence!😉

What he wants is for her come to him voluntarily, as part of a bargain to save her Amer from destruction. Then she would have been properly humbled for her having dared to put a sword to his throat - which continues to rankle in his mind, where it struggles with reluctant admiration for so gutsy a woman. It is the latter that will shape their future relationship, plus her realising that he has a soft side as well.

In fact, as I wrote elsewhere, I wish he had tried abducting her! Careening all over the Rajasthan countryside in the dark, trying to control a woman who would all the time have been trying to scratch his eyes out, if not decapitate him with his own khanjar. Nice going!😉

Moreover, she would never have become a concubine, as she was blue-blooded after all. He would have married her, but she would have been one among many, that is all.

But the point is that Jalal has no idea of the tartar he is going to have to cope with, and he will soon learn. I am curious to see how they handle their first confrontation post their marriage. Later, she would not be able to soften him if she does not acquire an emotional hold over him, and we have to see how she does that.

Why, my dear, I am pleased and flattered to know that you read my posts, but why silent? Please do argue as much as you want, and if you are right and I cannot defend my position, I would be the first person to say so!

i think jauhar or suicide would be one of the reason for not abducting her 😳

Nayaab means something incomparable, thus very rare and precious. Thus, if one gets a very special gift, one would say Nayaab tohfa mila tha.

Ehmiyat
means significance,and thus value.

He means that if he had condescended to kidnap her himself, running such enormous risks, she would have got puffed up as a result! As I wrote elsewhere, I wish he had tried it! He would have had a tartar by the tail, for Jodha would never have wept or pleaded with him; she would have tried to cut his head off with his own khanjar, or at the very least to scratch his eyes out!😉

No, my dear, how could he have confiscated Amer? Raja Bharmal and his sons and generals would have fought to the death and the women would have committed jauhar. He would have got nothin You are a naughty girl, with your 'bonus'😉, but it would have been a non-starter.

Even now, Raja Bharmal would never agree to such a force majeure proposal, so I think that it is Jodha who works it somehow. Let us see. The straightforward political alliance proposed by Raja Bharmal to the Emperor in the film is far more realistic. After all,two of Raja Bharmal's sons, Bhagwan Das and Mansingh, served in very high positions in Akbar's court. They were of course his brothers in law.

Akbar lived for a long time in Fatehpur Sikri, which was his capital, not in Delhi, till the city ran out of water and he had to move out.

Hehehehe! My username is apt, right?! 😉😃

Thank you so much for explaining!!

I think all the ladies of the Rajputana, except the ones in Raja Bharmal's household, must be relieved in their hearts, that their husbands are getting off the hook so easily. They all must have heaved a sigh of relief and thanked Jodha in sincerity, for bearing the brunt. Poor Jodha, at least for now 😆

Yes, he did not live in Delhi, but whenever he visited here, any idea where did he stay?

Till the time of Shahjehan, the Mughal capital was Agra. So when Akbar left Fatehpur Sikri, he went back to Agra.

It was Shahjahan who built the Red Fort and the Jama Masjid and shifted his capital from Agra to Delhi. So Akbar would not have neede to visit Delhi at all, which might have been a relatively less important city then.
