Rahman speaks on his birthday

Having crossed over to the 'other' side of forty, Rahman still shows no signs of slowing down. Rahman's life and career patterns have not followed the typical 'age affected' emotional graph. He has been working ever since he was 14 and his colleagues have always been people in their 40s. His not being amongst his peers may have led to a certain amount of 'age inelasticity' in his lifestyle and thought process. Outwardly, he still seems to be the same Rahman who had entered the realm of Hindi films with the masterpiece Roja.

Focussed and media shy, Rahman is still a man of few words. His charitable fund for the promotion of classical music in India was set up on his birthday. Also, he showcased his first ever English rendition Pray for me Brother to create awareness and try and fight poverty in the world. He believes in the power of music and also, believes in focusing his energies on his task of making music which is his one and only true calling.

Rahman is coming into his singing avataar – the journey that starting with Vande Mataram has seen milestones like Yeh jo des hai mera and now with Guru, he actually made a very heartening attempt at a sufi romantic ballad Tere Bina and the results is breathtaking.

May Rahman and Rahmaniyat grow.
