Ekta's Jalal is such a fascinating study in contradiction. The episode tonight was a particularly revealing one. His tender affection for Abdul and his ruthless slaughtering of the rajput men stood in stark contrast with one another. Did you people notice how his eyes softened with amused affection for Abdul, and the next moment he was violently killing the Rajput men? I do not exactly like Ekta's heroes all the time, but this time, I must admit, she has created a perfect example of complicated human psyche in him. How very Shakespearean of her. 😆 And Jalal's obsession with Jodha's words was the highlight of the episode perhaps.

P.S In order to trivialize the topic a little, did you notice Jodha reaching for Suryabhan's hand? Someone is half in love, it seems. 😉

ya she is beginning to fall for suryabhan but unfortunately for her she will only be jalal's...i really want to see a jealous halal and him realising its not lust but love and she is the one equal to him in all counts.

i agree with every word you wrote.and i must say you wrote it SO WELL.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.i was expecting a post about this and you made such a beautiful 1.😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
i remember during the launch of the serial ekta had remarked " that i want you 2 understand akber and then like him"
i did have a hinge that this time she has indeed worked hard.and from the first epi my doubts were confirmed.if she does not dig up her own grave( which she often does) i wud say this time she has hit the bulls eye.😊😊😊😊😊😊
akbar as u so righty pointed out is multi layered in the truest of its dennotation.he has as varied shades in him as the beams coming out of the prism.
his relationship with abdul not only lightens up the softer aspects of his psyche but is also a magnificent example of a comradeship which dilutes every barrier even that of the physical.
akbar happens to have the strength of an elephant whereas abdul is "weak" to the point of being almost an "invalid"( i use quote to highlight the use of mere literal meaning of these words. i am myself a great fan of his mental percipience) this stark contract and yet the bond they share, reinforce ekta's words that it is a story of amalgamation;a binding of the cultures, the sensibilities, the love of a human with his fellow being.in a modern world of differnce, diversification and immence personal prejudice again to quote ekta"it is a story we need to hear"
i guess i have eaten up your head and that of any and every unfortunate being who happen to glance through my blabberings!!!!!!!!!
but this event i mean this scene touched me to the point where my emotional floodgates got opened making the sentiments run haywire.
thank you soo much 4 opening up this post 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Jalal is a complex guy...one moment you see a caring side of his personality...the other moment he is incredibly ruthless...one moment I feel there is more than lust to his attraction towards jodha...the other moment I end up feeling otherwise...I agree when you say that jalal is different...he is not a typical soap hero...and, I hope he remains distinguished...

You wrote it so much better actually. I was so overwhelmed with the episode that I couldn't really write what I wanted to write at all. Thank for making such wonderful observations. Yes, Ekta is master when it comes to ruining perfectly good stories, but I truly hope she will not do the same thing again. At least not for a year or two. 😃

Nice post :-)

That is the very contrast that stood out to me in the opening scene too...the Jalal who stops the horse and reaches back to check how Abdul is holding up...and he does this tenderly...then cut to the transformation when he's surrounded by his enemy mocking at him and asking him to surrender to their mercy...thus unleashes the ruthless side of his personality and he sort of REVELS in killing each of those soldiers as he roars in anger at one point...and the pile-up of bodies by the end would leave anyone disturbed.

But then again we cut to the end of the epi where we see a Jalaal tenderly washing Abdul's wounds near a pond...and that makes you wonder about this guy's personality which has been honed over time under Bairam Khan's tutelage primarily.

The darkness inside battles with the few stray rays of light...remains to be seen what else they show of his personality in the coming weeks.

Jodha's words deffo hit hard...he was almost lashing out at the soldiers fueled in major part by the fury that Jodha's barbs unleashed in him.

As for Jodha...she is drawn to Suryabhan's "chivalrous" nature...lol but he seems more TALK to me than anything else...rather than making grand declarations, why didn't he pursue Jalal himself? If the EMPEROR can dare to enter his kingdom like this, why can't a KING/PRINCE chase him? Jalal showed guts while Suryabhan was busy talking and not really DOING anything.

The jalal we saw today is very different none of a heartless emperor will do it for his mere servant, he can get many but no he's not only a servant for him, he's sum1 very close to his heart, that means he did have a heart, jalal is really a complicated person, but slowly i hv started understanding him, he got hurt bcoz of his mother, he cares for abdul, it shows that deep inside he had that soft corner but sumhow it is overshadowed by bairam khan n mahamanga's influence on him

as per jodha n surya scene it was beautiful but not expected

My dear Suvi,

I agree, but why is it said that he is ruthless when he kills over 20 Rajput soldiers singlehandedly? What else does a warrior do in this situation, pray to them? Of course he will try and kill all of them, as that is the only way for him to get away. In a real war, he would have been given the Param Vir Chakra.

As for his attraction towards Jodha, Akbar was always known for his love of the beautiful, so it may be partly that, and of course, at this or any age, there is also desire (I much prefer this term to 'lust, which is a very unpleasant term with only negative connotations). Love, and respect, will come much later, and she too will have to begin caring for him if she is to have any influence on him at all. Merely raging at him will have no effect at all on him.

As for his not being a typical soap hero, there is only so much damage even Ekta can do to Akbar!😉 And I am grateful that he is complex; we have enough goody two shoes like Suryabhan Singh already, as flat as a pancake and as dull!

Hi, could you post the link of this Ekta interview? I'm curious to hear what she's said directly.
