| Iqbal Khan, who is all set to marry his longtime sweetheart Sneha, this month, doesn't want to reveal his marriage date. Says Iqbal, "Actually, my parents are superstitious about it. They don't want me to announce the date so early." The wedding cards have been printed, but the actor is waiting for a nod from his parents before he starts distributing them. Iqbal adds, "I am getting calls from the media and close friends about my wedding date, but I am not in a position to talk about it. It's an awkward situation for me, but at the same time I am sure that my parents have some valid reason for wanting to hide it at the moment."
Rumour has it that that Iqbal is all set to tie the knot on January 15. But the actor is making it a point to see that the wedding remains a hush-hush affair. To this, Iqbal says, "I would not like to not comment on it."
On professional front, Iqbal decided to quit Balaji because he wanted to spend time with Sneha. A close friend of Iqbal says, "He was stressed out and finally decided to quit. There have been days when he didn't get time to sleep at all."
Though Iqbal refuses to comment about Balaji Telefilms, it is evident that the actor was unhappy with the mounting work pressure. Though he is no more part of Balaji, Iqbal has some good memories too. Iqbal recalls his last day in Balaji, "It was just another day, but as we were wrapping up, I was feeling low about that fact that I won't be coming to the sets from the next day. It had become a routine for me. But I have no regrets."
Did he meet Ekta Kapoor before leaving Balaji? "No," he says. Was Ekta offended with his decision to walk out of Balaji? "I don't think so," he says. In fact Ekta had thrown a party on the same day, and had invited Iqbal for the same. Will Iqbal ever work with Ekta again? "I would love to work with her again. But I desperately needed this break and am not going to do any show for the time being," he says.
But insiders have it that Iqbal has already spoken to Sony's Sandiip Sikcand. "Rubbish!" he retorts. "I am getting offers from various channels and I have categorically refused everybody," he says.
At the moment Iqbal Khan is jobless but he has no qualms about it. "I am enjoying this peace of mind. But I am sure that post-marriage, things will be different and I will be back," he says. |
