After lunch, Manvi was waiting with the rest of her group members outside a patient room.
"Good afternoon Dr.Virat." Manvi smiled as soon as Virat arrived. Virat looked at her suspiciously for a second and walked inside with everyone following him.
"Who has the case summary?" Virat asks his interns.
"I do." Manvi replies. Virat nods, signaling her to start.
"Alekhya, 40-year old female has a non-malignant tumor in her brain. The tumor though not cancerous, is growing and pressing on her optic nerve leading to head aches and blurred vision. This is just going to keep affecting the rest of her faculties if not taken care of. So, she has elected to have the tumor removed and we are prepping her for a surgery tomorrow morning."
"Good. Check up vitals and vision." Virat tells Manvi.
Manvi was discussing something important with Amit, her colleague. She was asking him all kinds of stupid questions, just for the heck of it - questions that Virat knew for sure that Manvi knew the answers of and Amit was explaining all those things like a hero as they were all basic things. Manvi was looking at him super impressed and Virat was getting super pissed.
"Manvi, what did I ask you to do?" he snaps.
"Yes Doctor Virat, I am just finding out how to do it. You said not to ask you any questions unless we have exhausted all our options, so I am asking Amit instead."
"No that's ok. You can ask me. Come here, I will show you." Virat tells her angrily.
"Oh? Okay." Manvi smiled a little and walked over to the patients bed and while walking past him, she accidentally brushed against his body. Virat steps back almost in a reflex and this doesn't go unnoticed by Manvi. She was just going to flirt a little with Amit to make Virat act possessive but here she thought she just walked into a gold mine. She could do so much more - she realized how Virat goes all weak when he is close to her. She decided to test him and bumped past him again - again, immediately his body becomes tense, he moves away and looked at her confused.
So, everytime she passed by him or when he is talking with her, she repeatedly did the same thing - her arm, back, hands, hips and everytime Virat took notice and became still. They were small innocent touches but it was driving Virat nuts. He looked at her puzzled, but she just ignored him and was checking up and noting down information on the patient's chart.
The teasing continued for the next 10 minutes. He understood that she was doing it purposely and he was cursing her in his head. He couldn't even say anything or yell at her. What would he scold her for? All this bold camouflaged flirting from Manvi was something he had never even imagined in his wildest dreams. Small beads of sweat were forming on Virat's head and he was finding it very difficult to focus. He goes to the cart by the window and looks out trying to calm himself down. He just didn't understand how to react.
"So, how are we going to avoid damaging the optic nerve when we cut her open Dr.Virat?" Manvi goes to him and asks, showing him the X-rays they just got.
Virat looks at the X-rays and then at her in frustration. "I know what you are doing Manvi! You are so going to repent this!" he whispered angrily.
"I am just doing my work Sir. I had a question, but you seem to be a little blurred, should I ask Amit instead? DR.VIRAT?" she asks him batting her eye-lashes.
Virat scowls at her. "Manvi??!!" snatching the X-rays from her hand angrily.
"Let me mount that up for you DR.VIRAT!" Manvi says ignoring his glare. She takes the print back from him, gently passing her fingers over his. She turns around putting up the x-rays on the lamp mount that was right in front of him. Her back was facing him and she stood like an inch away from his chest. Right before turning, her back gently brushes over his chest - yet again. That was it, Virat just was driven over the edge, he couldn't control himself anymore. He wanted to drag her out and lose himself in her right then.
He holds her elbow tightly and turns her around. "STOP DOING THAT!"
He quickly realized where they were and looks up. Everybody were staring at them.
"Doing what SIR?" Manvi asks him maintaining the innocent face.
"Is everything alright Virat?" Dr. Mehra walks in. Dr. Mehra was Virat's incharge doctor. He smiled looking at Virat and Manvi.
"Yes Sir. Manvi was just asking me an excellent question." Virat replied coughing and looking away as he walked to him. Dr. Mehra soon took over and explained to everyone the complexities and uniqueness of the surgery, asking them to study every other similar case done in the world before the surgery tomorrow."
Virat was walking out with Dr.Mehra and he stopped and glared at Manvi. "In my office in five minutes." He ordered her scoffing fumes.
Manvi shuddered at his glare. She did all that to just make him acknowledge her and not ignore their relation. There was no need for such cold behavior was what she felt. She was angry with him for his yelling at her. But, now, she wasn't so sure.
'Oh God! WHAT DID I DO? I just jumped from the pan into the fire!!! I don't know what he is going to do now!!!!! Did Dr.Mehra have to come right now? Shit! Manvi, you are so dead."
"Sneha, pleaaase come with me..."
"Nai nai..why will I come? You deal with your crazy husband. I have to do the work Dr.Mehra gave me."
Manvi walked slowly to Virat's office dreading the worst. He will probably fire her and ask her to never be seen anywhere near her at the hospital. I will have to go work with those bitchy people." She stepped in silently muttering prayer after prayer.
He heard him talking to someone and she peeped in - it was Dr.Mehra. "Yes Sir and thanks for talking to the dean there. I just cannot appreciate enough. Actually, if Manvi gets selected, all our dilemmas will be solved, Manvi can come with me and complete her medicine in the same hospital as I am going to do my fellowship. I mean, things couldn't be any more perfect. Thank you so much Sir. And thanks for assigning Manvi to me as an intern, upon my request - I thought this is the best opportunity to train her."
"I am sure if she trains with you, she will be able to compete with the best Virat. I trust you. But, you only have three months to get her ready for the evaluation. Be careful, I have taken a big leap of faith on your word."
"I know Sir. Don't worry, she will be ready. She is really good - has a natural talent, she just needs some focus and application."
"You are a good man Virat." Dr.Mehra pats his shoulder and was walking out of the room.
Manvi plastered her to the wall behind the door so that Dr.Mehra couldn't see her. She stood there like that even after Dr.Mehra left. What the hell were they talking about. Virat asked for me to intern with him? He is training me and I have be ready in three months? What for?????

"Come inside Manvi" Virat stood at the door and closed it behind them once Manvi walked inside.
Manvi just stood there cornered and hunched like a small kid as Virat was blowing the roof off.
"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR f**kING MIND???????"
"I am sorry. I was just angry..."
"Angry for what? Angry for me wanting to teach you some discipline and focus. Manvi, you are not a kid anymore. You are going to become a mother soon. Learn to be a little responsible yaaar."
"Are you scolding me as a husband or as my boss?"
"How is that going to make a difference?"
"You know, I will do anything you ask me to do, I just didn't want you to be so cold. That's all. I am sorry!! I was just so caught up in getting back at you that I forgot about how it might look to others. " she explained.
"I don't care about others Manvi. Dr.Mehra told me about this student exchange program - you can come with me and complete your final year with me, in the university hospital that I am going to. I just jumped on the opportunity. I guess it got into my head - I REALLY WANT YOU TO GET THIS!! And I will teach you everything you need to pass the tests, but I need you to work hard. No more masti and fooling around!!"
"Yes. Alright." Manvi mumbled with a sad face.
"Do you know how I was feeling there?" He asked.
Manvi just stood there looking down.
He walked to her, putting his hands on the wall either side of the her.
Manvi looked up at him without lifting her head. "Virat, I am sorry. I will never do it again. I don't know what came over me."
"Sorry?" His forehead was on hers and he closed his eyes and his lips parted as his breathing was getting shallow and sharp. He looked at her shocked expressions but that didn't deter him. His places his mouth on her neck and kissed her gently, sucking in her soft skin and then gave her a small bite on the spot he just kissed.
"Ah!" Manvi looked at him bewildered. "What are you doing Virat?"
"Pay back is a bitch.." He held her to the wall holding her waist so that she couldn't move.
"DR.VIRAT!!! Pleaaase" Manvi tried for one last time, hoping that he will realize where they were and who he was. But Virat could not even hear her.
"Don't move!" He warned her looking into her eyes with do-not-mess-with-me-right-now look.
"You asked for it!" He kissed her again on the same spot. Manvi turned her head away to the side and closed her eyes, flinching in his torture. His hands moved inside her shirt, skimming through her soft skin while his mouth traveled along, placing soft yet firm kisses around her neck. She threw her head back helplessly as he buried his head in her neck, groaning, as his hands were feeling her up softly.
"Virat. Pleeease. Koi dekhlega toh kya sochenge???" her voice trembled under him. He didn't care. It was a sensual assault and the feeling was so powerful that her whole body shivered in his touch, her legs were like a jelly and she was losing herself. She moaned breathlessly.
"Now you realize how I was feeling?" He stops and looks at her heaving crazily.
"I am sorry." She turned red in embarrassment.
"Don't be." He lifted her chin up and kisses her hard groaning inside her mouth. Manvi didn't have it in her to fight back. He delved his mouth deeper into hers as his hands moved out of her shirt over her shoulders, neck and eventually cupping her face, his fingers running through her hair, grabbing her into him more and more, sinking himself onto her mind-numbing fragrance.
They both sprang apart panting hearing a knock on the door.
Manvi's voice was trembling. "Virat?"
"Stay. I need to talk to you about something else." Virat moves away and goes to open the door. Manvi quickly fixes her hair and adjusts her tee and looks at Virat who was smiling with a goofy grin. She turned away and sat at his desk avoiding his stare. He opens the door and it was Maya.
"Virat, are you on the brain tumor surgery case tomorrow." Maya asks coming in.
Manvi steals a glance at her and looks away embarrassed. She couldn't get over what just happened. He just made out with her in the hospital. She screwed her eyes shut and cursed that unfortunate moment her brain thought of this brilliant idea to mess with him.
"Yes. Why do you ask?" Virat asks Maya.
"I am scrubbing in. I need the case files and by the way Dr.Mehra called for you."
"Oh? Manvi, just give her the file of, what was that patients name?"
Manvi was still in a daze, did not hear a thing.
"MANVI!"
"Huh?"
"You okay?" Virat asked her with a sly smile.
"Yes!!!" she replied flustered.
"What's your patient's name?"
Manvi tried really hard to focus. Virat was looking at her stifling his amusement, glad to see her drowning in the same state he was in, a few minutes ago.
"Ally..Alekhya" Manvi murmured.
"Yeah Alekya's. Give that file to Dr.Maya. I will talk to you about the rest of the stuff later. OK?"
"Sure." Manvi smiled weakly.
Virat smiles sweetly at Manvi and leaves.

"Manvi? Right?"
"Yes Dr.Maya. Nice to meet you."
"What are you doing here?" Maya asks, looking at hickey on Manvi's neck. Manvi's catches her eyes and quickly covers it up wearing her apron.
"I am interning for Dr.Virat."
"Really? Is that even allowed?? I mean, he is your husband and all."
"I wouldn't know. You would have to speak with him about that. Here is the file. Excuse me, I have some research to do for tomorrow's surgery." Manvi gives her the file and walks out.
'Interesting! As far as I know, Virat does not like to mix professional and personal lives. What is happening here?' Maya wondered.
