Forum 32-Dowry-Women centric stories in Arjun

Arjun – Har Yug Mein Aayega Ek, as part of the Star Plus initiative on theme Ek Thi Khalnayika will bring you episodes that are women centric. Crimes committed in name of passion, money, legacy and revenge are the plots that one always sees in Arjun. The stories also carry with them inherent message be it social or human interest.

Tonight's episode is about Dowry. Dowry is a social stigma. People marry for many reasons and yes one of the reasons is money. How dowry has led to death of women across the nation is a fact that statistics prove. According to Police, there are 2500 cases of bride burning each year. Such stark figures of course do not reveal other types of torture and death.

The ETF Team is called in when death of a woman happens and suspects are her in-laws. What seems to be a case of dowry is established, when information about a large sum of money having been withdrawn from the woman's account comes to light. The in-laws, take money from the daughter-in-law to get their daughter married and ultimately the daughter in-law ends up dead.

Who is responsible for the death of the woman? Is it the need for money that led to her losing her life? Were the in-laws cruel enough to kill their daughter in law for money? ACP Sameer Rathore (Behzaad Khan), ACP Arjun Suryakant Rawte (Shaleen Malhotra), Aayesha Kapoor (Shital Shah), Shree (Siddharth Sen), Chhotu (Ketan Karande), Liza D'cruz (Ritu Chauhan), will hunt the culprit behind the death. Sakshi Anand (Mrunal Thakur) is part the team collating all the information that will perhaps bring more statistics to mull over for both Police and Public.

As you watch the episodes, there is a thought that they leave you with about society, its pressures and the social structure that not just makes one a victim of the system, rituals or standings but also how a woman is treated in general.
