hi priya,

that's lovely, all that rain. where am i, so far away from the monsoons... all those rainy day memories. growing up in assam, rain was a way of everything... monsoon rains, and then again winter rains. dance in it wearing practically nothing, then sit in the tub with a thimbleful of brandy which father insisted had to be had because otherwise ha ha in good bengali vein, "thanda lege jaabe." green all around...bamboo, tea gardens, lawns lush with thick bladed grass, and trees so many trees. bombay rains, calcutta rains, delhi baarish, duliajan rains... but why don't the singapore rains feel that romantic any more? must be me. it rains oft times here, but the monsoons are a different thing... the smell of earth, the moist in the air, the clouds coming in, and the yearning within, and all the talk of baarish, some pakoda, some khichuri, some cha and tele bhaja, and a feeling that love indeed is possible.

ghanaghata... oh i miss that.

don't know why, gulzar came to mind, i have a thing for him, though many of his words are not understood by me, yet they are. found this when i googled gulzar poetry baarish. hope you enjoy.
