Balika Vadhu has lost its charm. Here are the various occasions that I felt the show suffered a sharp drop.

1. The show started on an amazing high because of the brilliant cast, the outstanding story and the AUTHENTIC LOCALES. I still remember the pain that Anandi's father feels when he is hauled over by Dadisa for not bringing good quality gifts - everything seemed so REAL and so authentic. We lost that when Jagya went off to Mumbai and Anandi got shot and then - recovered. Too too filmi all of a sudden. They could have avoided the whole Anandi - shot - recovered story.

2. Story was brilliant around the marital rape and stress between firebrand Gehna and her older husband - loved the way he softens in spite of his termagant, controlling mother. Story took a hit with Gehna's exit.

3. LOVED the episodes around Sugna's wedding, widowhood and her pregnancy and her loneliness. Brilliant episodes. Lost the whole plot around the change in all the main characters. Now the story hardly ever goes there.

4. With apologies to all the Pratyusha fans - I felt the story took a sharp dive with Avika's exit. I missed the innocence of her and Jagya stories - their friendship - the small desires of a young child and her big responsibilities, I loved her friendship with Phooli - with the young Anandi's exit - I felt the show lost its innocence. I also felt that losing Anandi't mother was a big loss- she was an amazing character.

5. The story picked up with Jagya's affair and marriage to Gauri. Again - took a big hit with Gauri's exit. I was again interested in watching Anandi's challenges, her struggle to establish her own identity and her dignity in her divorce.

6. Shiv's entry was a big big mistake. Again reverted Anandi from a person seeking her own identity into a person who needs to be protected. Big mistake. The show lost its plot.

7. Entry of Shiv's parents and family - another big mistake as this has diluted the screen time of the original Singh family - their story and their journey. No mention of Phooli either - most importantly- the whole show has become CITY BASED and less village oriented. We see less of the village habits and customs now.

8. Finally, the entry of Toral. Sorry but she looks older than her husband, looks and acts with zero personality. Final nail on the journey of Anandi. If you watch the first few episodes of BV and the episodes now - other than Dadisa - there is not much holding the show together. Is the show about Anandi or Jagya or their relationship? I guess it is now about Jagyas journey and Anandi is taking a step back to let his story develop.

As you folks can guess, I used to watch every episode until Shiv's entry. It became less frequent until now I watch about twice a month since the new Anandi has joined.

i also believe this 6 day telecast is eating up the charm of bv...same thng dragged till saturday...thats y sat trps r always the lowest... also i think makers shud hve shown Gauri forgiving jagya...if nt Anjum why nt sumone else... Ganga's track cud hve been used in othr way also...

I think Balika Vadhu should have ended when Pratyusha left. Whatever the reason for her departure was ( I don't want to go into that although I'm convicted that she was fired) the whole series and viewers around the world didn't have to suffer becouse of that and be disappointed. No one can convice me that there was no way to record a couple of episodes until Anandi confession that she loves Shiv. I don't think Pratyusha refused that. And we could have seen that Anandi (Balika Vadhu) finally found her happiness with Shiv and everyone would be happy. The story, all the while, follow her life and what happens within it. Forget the social messages now. Everything is already said.
And Jagdish story was supposed to end with open options. So if they wanted marathon series and advertisements for some, so called, actresses, they could do that in some extent, the new season or something.
