Rashi walked up to Raj and kept a hand on his shoulder. "Chalein? Ya aur holi khelne ka iraada hai???"

Raj smiled back at her and nodded his head. Rashi noticed that Raj had quieted down a bit now. Thinking that maybe he was tired she did not bother asking him. It had been almost 5 hours that they had arrived at the Ahluwalia Aashiana in the morning and started playing holi. Maybe the heat and fatigue was catching up to him. She brushed her hand through Raj's hair and led him towards the entrance, where Dadi and Romit were waiting for them.

"Ye khota kidhar chala gaya firse???" Dadi frowned looking around for her favourite grandson. Romit looked in alarm at Rashi. He had noticed Arjun and Arohi disappear near the pool and he maybe stupid but he was not a child. Disturbing his bro right now could mean outright suicide and he knew what dadi's next course of action will be… she will send Romit to hunt him down. Agar Arjun mila to Romit usske haatho maara jaayega, agar nahi mila toh dadi ke haathon! Ek taraf sher aur dusri taraf khaayi… how much more tension could he survive???

Rashi caught the silent signal that Romit sent her and she jumped into action.

"Daaddii… Arjun ko Billu ka phone aaya tha… toh voh… usske saath holi khelne chala gaya hai. Chodiye na usse… hum ghar chalte hain, voh aajaayega."

Rashis words coming out in rush made dadi look suspiciously at her again. Scanning her words in her mind, she realised that love was finally in the air for the two grandchildren whom she adored the most. Turning her face away in mock anger she went to DJ and Kartarji to bid them goodbye. Rashi left out a breath of relief with her one hand on her chest and smiled looking at Romit. Her eyes held for a moment with her brothers and then travelled beyond him to lock with Rajveers gaze.

The hand on her heart stayed and she suspected that it had stopped beating. The intensity with which he was looking at her right now made her catch her breath in her chest. Her smile waned and she felt a blush creep up her skin slowly as her entire being started getting aware of the unspoken feelings conveyed between their eyes. She did not realise for how long she stared at him till a colourful blurry blob cut off her vision. She broke out of her trance to look at whatever had blocked her view.

Arjun walked slowly but surely towards Rashi and stood in front of her. His face was impassive and he looked directly in her eyes.

"Lets go?"

"Dad! Aap kaha they? Mom no 2 ne toh kaha ki aap Billu chachu ke saath holi khelne gaye hai???"

"Gaya tha beta. Ab wapas aagaya… Chalo." Guiding Raj towards the parking, Arjun turned towards Rashi. Sneaking a glance in Rajveers direction, Rashi turned and followed Raj. Arjun watched her go and after she disappeared from view he turned around and looked at Rajveer.

The ACP was watching the object of his affection leave him and then his eyes moved to look at Arjun. For a moment he was surprised to see Arjuns otherwise expressive eyes devoid of any emotions. Had he seen him and Rashi stare? Or anything else? A small inkling of fear crept in his mind… not for himself but for Rashi. He knew that she was not ready to announce it yet. And he also knew that Arjuns support mattered a lot to her. But at the same time he understood Arjun because he used to feel the same way for Arohi.

Taking a split second decision of talking to Arjun and establishing a neutral ground, Rajveer took a step forward. But at that exact moment Arjun turned around on his feet and headed towards the parking lot. Rajveers feet stopped on their own and he stared at Arjuns back.

Early in the morning the door bell rang and the only person awake in Singhania mansion opened the door.

"Arohi puttarrr… tu itni svere svere???"

Dadi smiled seeing her bahu grin and touch her feet. Keeping a hand on her head to bless her, dadi pulled her in for a hug. "Puttar jyada jhuka na kar… ab kaunsa mahina chal raha hai?"

Arohis grin faded to an awkward smile and she used the one tactic that she had mastered over the past few days. She dropped her eyes and head in a fake blush and moved inside the house. "Main thik hu dadi. Bas bohat din hogaye they aap sab ke saath breakfast kiye huey issliye…"

"Ye bada changa kitta tuney puttar. Raj bhi khush hojana hai." Dadi shut the door and followed Arohi in the kitchen.

After instructing the servants about breakfast, Arohi settled with Dadi on the dining table waiting for everyone to wake up.

Arjun could not help but smile at the various expressions that his family had given when they saw her on the dining table in the morning. Rashi Raj and Romit were the most excited and the rest looked like they had got a bad taste in their mouth. After the initial conversations, everyone ate their breakfast in silence. Arjun was counting seconds till how long could his wife keep her mouth shut. And he smiled as he counted the 184^th second then he heard Arohis voice.

"Dadi… actually hum sab soch rahe hai… ki ek family picnic hojaaye."

The toast stopped on its way to Rudras mouth, leaving his mouth open. Kumud gripped the fork tightly in her teeth and kept it there. And the orange juice made its way into Mikhails wind pipe instead of his foodpipe and he coughed. The trance broke and Kumud patted her son on his back to relieve him. Ignoring the bunch of grumpies, Dadi turned her attention to her favourite daughter-in-law.

"Ye achanak picnic ka khayal kyu aaya puttar?"

"Voh dadi… actually Raj ko apne birthday ke liye picnic pe jaana tha. Ussne humey bohat pehle bola tha lekin… Issliye maine aur Arjun ne socha ki ab chalte hain picnic pe. Aur ab toh…" She sneaked a peek in Mikhails direction, who was wiping his mouth with the napkin. "… ghar mein shaadi bhi hone waali hain. Toh nayi dulhan ka swaagat bhi hojaayega family mein."

Arohi could make out Mikhail stiffen at her words from the corner of her eye. Everybody looked at each other, trying to comprehend the exact meaning of Arohis words. Arohi looked at everyone and smiled.

"Mein jaanti hoon aap sab kya soch rahe hain. Yahi na… ki kya mein, Gauri ki baat karrahi hoon? Toh haan… mein Gauri ki hi baat karrahi hoon. I know we had our problems etc etc… lekin hai to voh meri bachpan ki dost. And now if she wants to make a fresh start in life then I don't want to take that chance away from her. Plus I think she had taken the right decision by marrying Mikhail. After all I know how it is being a Singhania daughter-in-law…"

Rudra rolled his eyes at Arohis sweet nautanki voice and Mikhail scrunched his. The 'now-what-is-this-girl-upto' look was flashing clearly on the father-sons faces.

"I mean look at the brighter side… usse isse bhi bakwaas sasuraal mil sakta tha. Mikhail dikhne mein toh bura nahi hai bas thoda dimaag kam hai, lekin usse kya farak padta hai… itna paisa bhi toh hai! Aur daddyji toh world ke best sasur hai… voh kabhi apne bachhon ki personal life mein interest hi nahi lete. Aur mummyji ke jaisi saas milna kitna mushkil hai… voh daayan se bas thodi kam hai lekin daayan toh nahi hai na?"

Kumud opened her mouth to yell at her mannerless daughter-in-law but dadi widened her eyes and she had to swallow her words.

"Waise Mikhail tum bhi invited ho. Hum sirf Gauri ko leke jaayenge toh tumhe achha nahi lagega na? Issi bahane tum thoda akele time spend kar paaoge ek doosre ke saath. You know… get to know each other… talk to each other. This courtship period is very important. It is necessary that you both understand your spouse very well. You can talk and discuss plans for the future. You can also…"

Arohi suddenly stopped as she felt Arjun grab her hand under the table and squeeze it hard. She fell silent immediately and smiled widely at Mikhail.

"I mean to say… tum bhi chalo."

Trying to gauge Mikhails reaction, Arjun and Arohi involuntarily held on to each others hands under the table. After a minute of explosive silence, Mikhail spoke.

"Mujhe kaam hai. You guys can take Gauri if she wants to come." Wiping his face with the napkin again, he got up.

Arohi instantly smiled and hid it the next minute. "Achha? Are you sure you wont be able to come? I mean it will be so much fun. Aur Gauri bhi hogi…"

Arjun squeezed Arohis hand so hard that she almost squealed. He gritted his teeth in frustration. When will his wife make out the difference in acting and over acting?! The moment she got a chance to speak, she just shoots off like a bullet train!!!

"Koi baat nahi. Mein Gauri ko pooch lungi." Smiling widely at him, Arohi rubbed her hand with the other under the table, when Arjun let loose the painful grip. She watched Mikhail walk away and turned to glare at Arjun. But the anger in his eyes surprised her and she sweetly smiled at him asking for forgiveness.

"Picnic? Kaha pe?"

Rajveer balanced the phone between his ear and shoulder since his hands were busy turning the pages of a file.

"I don't know. Arjun Arohi ne plan kiya hai. Hum sab jaarahe hai. Lovedeep and Sanchit are also coming. Kya… tum bhi…?"

Rajveer smiled in the phone. Keeping the file down, he held the phone in his hand and dropped in his seat. "Mein bhi… kya?"

Rashis dimple appeared as she smiled at Rajveers teasing. Everyday she was discovering a new trait to his personality. Rajveer was surprising her every single time by doing something completely out-of-character. And so this time she decided to surprise him back.

"Kya… tum bhi… Ok ho… ki Love aur Sanchit hamare saath aarahe hain?"

Rajveers smile dropped. He took a few seconds to realise that shes teasing him back.

"Im ok with them going… but im not Ok with YOU going!"

"Kya??? Lekin kyu?"

"Kyuki… if you go, you will enjoy. And how can will I feel when I know that you're enjoying without me?!"

Rashi was loving this phase of her relationship. She had lost all hopes of finding someone with whom she could play these little silly games and enjoy them so much. She was not the romantic mushy types, but then neither was Rajveer. Yet she loved being like this with him. Whenever they spoke, the major part of their conversation was games like these which had them both feeling warm and dreamy by the end of it. These late night conversations were slowly becoming the highlight of her entire day.

"Rashi…?"

"Hmm…" Breaking out of her thoughts Rashi realised that she had wandered off in her dreamland again.

"I want to tell you something."

"Haan bolo." Rajveers sudden serious tone made her frown.

"Tumne… kya tumne… Arjun ko hamare baare mein bataya hai???"

"No. Not yet. I don't think now is a good time. I want to wait for some more time. I hope you understand."

"I do. Maine issliye nahi poocha kyuki mein chahta hu ki tum Arjun ko batao. Im asking you because… because I feel… that shayad usse shak hogaya hai… hamare baare mein."

Rashis mouth fell open and her hand gripped the phone tight. Suddenly she saw the impassive expressions he had given her yesterday before he pushed her towards the exit. Had Arjun figured it out already? She could sense her mind starting to freak out a bit thinking that if he knew, then his reaction yesterday was not a positive one.

"Rashi… im saying shayad. Im not sure. Are you there?"

"Haan…" Rashi bit her lower lip in nervousness. What if Arjun confronted her about it? She cannot lie to him. she will have to tell him the truth.

"Rashi… please don't worry. If he has found out then we will talk to him… together. Mein hoon tumhare saath. Please don't worry. Im sure he will understand. If not now then eventually. But you don't worry… ok?"

Rashi took a deep breath to calm herself down. "Hmm… Nai. Im ok. Its just that I wanted to tell Arjun myself. I didn't want him to find out like this on his own."

"I know. I can understand. But if its already happened then we will handle it. Ok?"

"Hmm…"

"What time are you leaving tomorrow?"

"8am."

"Ok. Msg me the location as soon as you find out. ok?"

"Hmm… Ok."

"Rashi please stop worrying! Meine tumhe issliye bataya taaki this doesn't come to you as a surprise. Not to make you worry unnecessarily."

"Ya. I know. Im sorry. Its just that…"

"Kya tum mujhpe bharosa karti ho?"

Rashi smiled at the softly spoken question. "Haan."

"Toh bharosa rakho… ki mein sab thik kar dunga. I Promise."

Rajveers words in his strong husky voice gave Rashi goosebumps. She knew that she could depend on him blindfolded. How did she get this lucky!

"I love you…"

These three words told Rajveer everything that he wanted to know about Rashi. He had never known that he could ever realise the state of someones mind by listening to her voice and some words which had no relevance to what she was feeling. This was exactly what he was missing in his life.

"I love you too…"

Arjun kissed Arohis hair as she dug her face more in his chest. He pulled the pink rug on their bodies and pushed his wife more towards him, to make her comfortable. When he heard her even breathing, he continued staring at the ceiling and retraced back to his thoughts. For the first time today, both the families knew that he was spending the night in Ahluwalia Aashiana.

He recalled his conversation with Arohi and the observation that he had made yesterday. Tomorrow was a big day for all of them. Gauri had agreed to come for the picinc, although reluctantly. And they didn't get time to speak to her about their plan. Arohi was a bit disturbed with this. They needed Gauri to cooperate fully with them tomorrow and hence it was important that she is told about everything. Arohi had tried talking Gauri into coming to her place to spend the night, where she would be updated about everything. However, the past proved to be a barrier and she was no longer comfortable doing so.

However, Arjun was not bothered. His only worry had been the documents to be in place and Karan had brilliantly organised everything in time. He and Karan had set up a team to ensure that Gauri follows the plan completely … with or without her will. In fact, he felt it was better that Gauri didn't know… that makes it one less person who knows the secret plan. And so that was not troubling him right now. Since yesterday, there was only one person who had plagued all his thoughts.
