Sanaya Irani on her unconventional act in Chhanchhan

You break the bahu-beti mould with your role of a dog trainer in Chhanchhan. What do you want on-screenbahus to stop doing?

First, they should stop crying all the time! They need to stand up a little more for themselves. They should also be a little more chilled out with their husbands and less formal.

What will Chhanchhan do if she is asked to quit her job of a dog trainer after marriage?

I don't think she will quit her job. Initially she might take a break, but she will not quit the job.

How difficult is it to shoot with the dogs?

It's very hard to shoot with the dogs. They are not actors. They (dogs) should be rolling around in the ground instead. The crew just have to trick them into shooting the scenes.

Khushi (her character in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon) was a pro in mithai-making and Chhanchhan is a dog trainer. Which is more fun, training dogs or making jalebis?
Dogs are more fun! I am very fond of animals and it's definitely better than standing next to a stove with all that heat.

With which character do you identify more — Chhanchhan or Khushi?
Chhanchhan is just a normal girl, so I don't have to try too hard to be her whereas Khushi's character was over-the-top, loud and crazy. Anyone can identify with Chhanchhan.
There was lot of buzz about you being a part of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on Colors, but...
Yes, I was offered Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa but I did not want to do it, as I would not be able to cope up shooting for more than 12 hours. I love the show (Jhalak...) and I love to dance but I think I will wait for the right time. Chhanchhan has just started and is only two months old and I want to focus on it.

ditto I love the fact that despite there being many negatives and failing TRPs just cz Sanaya has picked it up due this specific reason, media sees it in a positive light too. That difference from the rest and carving ahead a different route to itself factor is appreciated mostly.

And also love the fact that just cz she is doing it, whenever articles of a combination of shows on this front comes, they use Sanaya's one as the example of case in point..

Just cz of her star value!!

makes me feel proud as a San fan when I see this :)

I just hope that starting from CC wearing her jeans and T-shirts at her sasural after marriage to her going out of the house on her scooty to her training dogs as a profession and being financially independent are kept consistent.

otherwise it would not live up to this difference it is expected to showcase.

And agree, Sunara ... hope they do bring in all the things Sanaya spoke about ... a girl who works after marriage, wears jeans,stands up to her saas - but politely and without scheming ... and does not dissolve into tears all the time. That is the kind of show I expect Chhanchhan to be, hope that is what we will get after the wedding.

and very happy to see that the media is still positive about Chhanchhan, despite the shaky start. Guess everyone is waiting for all this ... Sanaya does know the story of what will happen after marriage .. so keeping fingers crossed.

Really happy Sanaya is continuing to get good press for the character Chhanchhan. No matter how the show fares in future, it is nice Sanaya is recognized for her had work and dedication to her work.
