Hello EGBians!

I'm back with the our second DOTW. 🤗 It's been three weeks since the show started and I think it's going pretty well till now. The story is interesting. 😳

Well the previous week focussed on weddings of Poonam with Gautam and Prathnah being rejected by a family.

I was just wondering, was rejecting a proporsal on the basis of a dark complexion justifed or even valid. I mean how important are looks while considering a propersal. Are good looks the only criteria while choosing a sprouse for oneself.

On the other hand, Poonam is being wedded off in an uneducated and uncouth family. They have full plans of demanding a lot of dowry. A family who is already giving their most precious asset, their daughter to a family are being asked to give money and dowry as well. Do you think dowry should be banned and actions should be taken against in or is it something reasonable because its a trend being followed from ages and the tradition should be maintained.

I for one was pretty surprised, when Akash's mother, too offered dowry as compensation for her daughter's looks. 😕

Do express your unbiased views upon these topics, with respect to the show as well as real life.

With the changing face of Indian standards , I feel the educated youth looks for a Virtuous life partner. Someone that can be a good friend and not only understand the strength n weaknesses of her/his spouse efficiently but have an ability to overcome obstacles ,willingness to stand for what they believe in, and their determination to succeed and reach their highest potential while enduring great pain .

We all know that looks can be deceiving, and that it is wrong and unfair to judge a person just by the way they look, dress, carry themselves...etc..etc... but then there are many who believe first impression is the last impression...

THE DOWRY PROHIBITION ACT, 1961. (Act No. 28 of 1961) was introduced in India on 20th May, 1961. An Act to prohibit the giving or taking of dowry. But sad that most of Indian parents who want their girls to get married are still willing to give a handsome amount to the grooms family thinking that this way they can secure their daughter's future. But can this really ensure a happy n safe future for their precious girl?

(This is just my POV. I don't mean to offend anyone)!

I have never understood the concept of dowry. These days, dowries are becoming something fanciful, more along the lines of presents. It may sound very serialish, but I actually know people who're like oh someone in my family gave x amount of gold, so I need to give x+y amount of gold for my kid's wedding. And the best part is they don't find it wrong!

I am proud to say I come from a cast of Indians which abhors the concept of dowries. Even if the girl is married off in her bridal wear with one necklace and 5 pieces of new clothes, no one in her in-laws place is going to say a word, neither will they demand for stuff.

I genuinely hope the mentality of the average Indian person rises past this system of dowry or gift giving and reaches a point where skin color or huge gifts don't matter. At the end of the day, its the love and compatibility between the couple that should be accounted for.
