As I did not see a post on this yet, I wanted to bring it to focus.

When Chhanchhan's dadi is talking about respecting and honoring Manav's family, Chhanchhan says, they should expect the same treatment and respect from Borasagar' s family too. It was a small dialogue, but that has been the essence of this show from the beginning, human dignity and equality is above traditions and customs. In India marriage is coming together of two families, yet the expectations is always that the girl's family will defer to the boy's side and also fulfill all their whims and fancies.

I have even heard things such as girl's family should not expect a glass of water from her in-laws!!

Yes, loved it.
Great to see that CC will stand for right things, even if she has to stand against Manavs family.

I meant to make a post on that too ... I loved that dialogue!!! In India (and elsewhere too) this is a part and parcel of the whole 'boys are superior to girls' thinking ... the boy's family basically rides roughshod over the girl's family and treats them all like second class citizens ... especially at a wedding ... each and every arrangement is scrutinized and criticized, as though being from the boy's side entitles them automatically to royal treatment, regardless of their own status ... and the boy's family reserves the right to say anything to the girl's parents and family, while the girl's parents have to bear it, after all, the boy's parents are doing them the great favour of taking their daughter into their home ... 😕😡

We say in India that a marriage is a coming together of two families, not two individuals ... yet one family is treated as inferior to the other ... not only at the wedding but even afterwards ... if Chhanchhan stands up against this thinking, I will be very happy!!!! No girl should tolerate it if her family is insulted by her in-laws, nor should she be expected to!

Well said. I hope and expect Chhan Chhan to set things right in this Borasagar family. Any insult big or small should not be tolerated.
Go CC Go!!!

Diya, I actually witnessed this just six months back in India at my own cousin's wedding. It was plain disgusting!

Coming to the show, I am also looking forward to seeing Chhanchhan demanding respect that she and her family deserves. The only thing I worry about is execution of these tracks, I don't want a "Rajani" approach, hope the creatives come up with some mature dialogues and scenes.
