Chapter 9 - THE FATE

At the Wedding Venue

Panchva phera...Rk stops...panditji says, "ab kanya war ke aage chalegi" n he starts his chants..

By now rk is almost in tears...madhu moves ahead crosses rk and glancing at him she moves ahead n stops coz she sees rk frozen at one place...then rk says a guilt filled "sorry"...but madhu doesn't glance back...instead she moves ahead saying...

Madhu : panchva phera...waada karti hoon hamesha tumse hi pyaar karoongi...tumhaari har khushi meri aur har dukh mera...main hamesha tum par vishwaas karoongi aur tumhaari khwaayishein puri karoongi... (rk follows)

Rk is still in shock...he's only staring at madhu from behind n walking behind...

Panditji : "chatthaa phera" n he continues his chants..

Madhu : main hameshaa tumhaare saath rahoongi..tumhaare har faisle mein... (rk follows)

Panditji : "saatva phera" n he continues his chants..

Madhu : ishwar ko saakshi maankar ab main tumhaari patni hoon...hamehsaa hameshaa ke liye... (rk follows)

Panditji : phere samaapt huye...ab yeh mangalsutra pehna dijiye (looking at rk)

Rk takes it from panditji n turns towards madhu still trying to register what had happened...n he ties the mangalsutra around madhu's neck staring at her with pain filled eyes...

Rishbala eyelock...madhu stares with concern...but, rk breaks the eyelock feeling awkward n looks back at panditji...panditji hands over the sindoor to him...he takes it n fills it in on madhu head...

Panditji : vivah sampann hua...aaj se aap dono pati-patni hain..

Madhu : shukriyaa (at panditji)

N panditlji leaves from there...

Rk holds madhu's shoulders with both hand and speaks in an angry tone..

Rk : shaadi kyu ki?

Madhu : kyunki tumse pyaar karti hoon

Rk : madhu tum acchi tarah se jaanti ho main tumhe kya pooch raha hoon...SHAADI KYU KI?

Madhu : jab tum jaante the toh roka kyu nahi?

Rk : ki thi maine koshish...phir sochaa..

Madhu : sochaa ki tumhaara pyaar kamzor hai...ki mujhe haq hai tumhe takleef pohochaane ka...ki tum yeh dard deserve karte ho...hai naa rk?

Rk : kya yeh sach nahi hai? Phir kyu?

Madhu : suna tha maine wo sab kuch jo tum uss din keh rahe the...

(Rk is a little taken aback..but, madhu continues)

(Flashback) (ps: refer end of ch6)

Rk enters the room...madhu has slept...dinner is untouched...rk walks out of the room in frustration...

After a couple of hours madhu wakes up n sees rk missing from the room...she gets up to chk the washroom but, he's not there...she chks the entertainment room..he's not there...she chks the bar...he's not there...she goes to rk's painting room...there he is...

Rk was sitting on his dad's chair n drinking... staring at his dad's photo in his wallet and he spoke..

Rk : papa, kyu kiya maine yeh? Kya itna kamzor tha mera pyaar ki usse keh bhi nahi paaya?

(And he takes another sip from the bottle)

Aur vo...kyu nahi samajhti ki main nahi chahta ki jis badle ki aag mein main jalaa vo uss par beete...kya karu main? Kaise usse rok lu?...ya shaayad...shaayad mera rokna thik nahi? Usse haq hai mujhe taklif pohochaane ka...yeh hi deserve karta hoon...hai naa papa...

He gets up n moves towards the sculpture of madhu that was made by him n stares at it saying "jeena hoga ab tumhaare bina jab tum chodkar chali jaaogi.."

Madhu is in tears n she runs back to the room...

(end of flashback)

Its almost morning now..

[Here onwards all of rk's dialogues are in expressions of 'guilt+pain+anger' and all of madhu's are with 'pain+concern']

Madhu : sunaa tha maine wo sab kuch...nahi dekh sakti main tumhe aise...bohot takleef hoti hai mujhe...

Rk: chali jaao...ab main aur nahi kar sakta yeh...

Madhu: humaari shaadi huyi hai...biwi hoon main tumhaari...tumne hi kaha tha sirf tumhaari hoon

Rk: CHALI JAO...

Madhu : kyaa ab bhi bharosa nahi kar sakte?

Rk : kyu karti ho mujhse itna pyaar? Haan..? bataao?

Madhu : tum kyu chahte ho ki main chali jaaoon?

Rk : sab kuch chodkar jaana chahti ho yeh jooth tha naa...?

Madhu left from there in disgust...

Rk goes in his vanity van that is present at the marriage venue and picks up a bottle of whisky n starts drinking...

Meanwhile sultan enters the wedding venue...
