I just read this news and found how lowly this vote politics is..... While the government went so fast in bringing the legislation for reservations in educational institutions..... while they are avoiding the responsibilities and delaying the matters for the Right of education bill..... this shows how low this vote politics has stooped

States go slow on education Bill

NEW DELHI: Despite the constitutional mandate and talk about educating every child in the country, Centre seems to have washed its hands of the Right to Education Bill.

Minister of state for HRD MAA Fatmi admitted in a written reply in Parliament earlier this week that a small committee set up by the PM had suggested that "instead of framing a Central legislation, the states should be encouraged to formulate their own legislation".

The committee consisting of HRD minister Arjun Singh, deputy chairperson of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Finance Minister P Chidambaram and chairperson of PM's Economic Advisory Council C Rangarajan, while putting the ball in the states' court suggested that "there is need for states to adopt correct allocational priorities, and therefore, after law and order, elementary education should be the first charge on states' resources".

PS: Support the Anti-reservation campaign
