Listen to Old Classic Hindi Songs

We members of SRGMP section are all music lovers.Some of us love old classics, some love the golden gems, some love classical in any form , some love the contemporary raps, remixes and the current hip hops and some love the foot tapping so called sufiana songs.

What started as a musical journey with probably just a harmonium in company its its initial days , today witnesses various forms of synthesised music and innumnerable types of acompanying instruments. Music in Indian Films had travelled a long journey through different eras.

Not many of my contemporarries including me are familiar with the all the songs in the early days of 1930's & 1940's. With the passage of time and advancement , they have paled into oblivion for most , except for some hardcore music lovers.

As I was trying to get some information on the songs of the bygone days, I came upon a brilliant site where old lassic lovers have treasured the memory of some such songs from that era by reviving some of the songs. I thought I will share these songs with you all to take you through a journey of Indian music at its foundation years ....

I am impressed Venky that you are enjoying these. Frankly speaking except for a few may be I had not heard the rest. Heard them all for the first time yesterday... great yaar !!!👏

adi honestly ...forget the songs .. i havent even heard the film names ..but great effort.. 👏 can u recommend me which one to start with.. for me pehela impression is imp. if it goes well i can carry all of them.. 😛

Thanks Adi, frankly, I have never heard any of these songs. I asked my mother, and she listened to a few and she said that she has even seen the movies. she was a young girl at that time. She was talking of Sindoor, Do Bhai, Achut Khaniye, which I have never heard.
I asked my video store if they have
any of these old gems of movies, and they told me that if the movie is over 50 yrs old, it is hard to copy it.
I have some Dvds of GOLDEN MEMORIES,and they have films from about 1956 onwards, and these songs are just lovely to listen. I wish that I can see these old movies

I'll admit I haven't even gone through half the list... but each time I listen to these old numbers I can easily picture the black and white scenes with swaying trees, streams and elaborate gardens. And the "sharmili" way in which the women would coyly sway about and the men would follow with the "bhola" faces. 😆 Thanks Adi! 😃

Thank you Adi. I have heard Khurshid's name from elders but not heard any of the songs. I sent the link to my Bhai and listened to Sun Sun Mora Maan Kuch Bole.... I think he has been listening to them most of the evening!! 😆 😆
